it's Nationals week! and we in New Orelans LA for the competition and it's a really big week.

|Pyramid|
"come on girls let's go! move it along get in here." Abby says as we walk into the studio we are using for this week

"here we are in New Orleans Louisiana"

we all clap

"filled with history you guys are here to dance and you are here to win, i'm gonna get started on the pyramid."

"first we have Paige, i told you to pull your knees in and your tuck to set it higher you didn't do that onstage."

"Nia, you work hard you are strong in your partner work but what happens to your feet on the side aerial what happens to those knees on your turns in second."

"and next Brooke, you go out onstage headpiece falls off your mother swore she had it in i believe her."

"and next Kendall, you have some great atrebuites."

"but they were the highest score of duets." Jill says

"right." Abby agrees

"a duet has two people why should she be at the bottom of the pyramid." Jill asks

"Kendall maybe your mother should keep her mouth shut." Abby says

"and next we have Payton, welcome to the team."

we clap for Payton and i give her a smile

"for this week Leslie."

"moving on Chloe, you know that you were a better dancer two years ago."

"and next Asia, Asia i thoguht you did a great dance in the duet as the doll in the group routine i thought you were a hot mess."

"and next Mackenzie, you won the overall highscore in the mini division then you fell on your head and ruined the whole line in the group dance."

"and next Maddie, overall high score on the duet it rad excellent, i feel like you could've done it as a solo."

"and on top of the pyramid Kayla, overall highscore solo of the junior division, i do feel like you could work on your acro for the group routine but overall a very well done."

i smile and nod

"girls, we are here in New Orleans to win at nationals the wicked witch of the west is here to beat you, you are all in the group routine at Nationals we will be performing a tribute to the hurricane victims and years ago hurricane Katrina devastated this city."

"now my soloists to be fair everyone will be learning a solo for nationals, Brooke you and Payton will be learning the came choreography."

"Chloe and Kendall you will be learning the same choreography, Asia you should be the automatic shoe in but last week you made some mistakes Mackenzie your solo won the overall both of you will be learning the same choreography."

"Nia, Paige you will be learning the same choreography."

me and Maddie look at eachother

does this mean me and Maddie are up against eachother?

"Maddie i'm throwing you in there two."

i look back to Abby confused

"Kayla, you are my only confirmed soloist for nationals because look at you, you are undefeated  your solo is contemporary and it's entitled Babooshka."

i smile and i nod

everyone claps

"i also have one duet with Kayla and Chloe, it's based on the Broadway show wicked."

me and Chloe squeal and we hug eachother

we haven't had a duet in ages!

"this is nationals so if you're gonna be here and you're gonna be on this team you are going to be the absolute best that you can be spread apart."

|Group Rehearsals|
"you're telling this story of this horrible devastation this hurricane Katrina coming in and levelling everything." Abby says

we start learning the group routine and it's absolutely gorgeous the choreography is so pretty

after we do the group a couple of times it's the soloists

Asia and Mackenzie is up first

"how does it feel to be the only soloist for nationals." Nia asks

"absolutely terrifying." i say

"wait why?" Jill asks

i look over to the moms

"because at first i thought i was against Maddie because it made sense we are very similar dancers but then Miss Abby just said you don't need to compete because i'm too good for everyone and i should win nationals basically and i didn't like that and it's just a lot of pressure." i say

"atleast she believes in you." Kendall says

"i guess but if i don't win it's letting her down and she'll be upset and that she expected me to win and it's like i'm constantly needing to win." i shrug

|Duet Rehearsals|
"okay so this duet is based off the show Wicked now Kayla you've done a solo based on it where you portrayed Glinda you will be portraying her again and Chloe you will be protraying Elephaba who is the wicked witch and you do evil well." Abby says

i smile

we learn the duet and it's like a lyrical duet on the last moments of the show where Elephaba gets killed so it's a sweet duet

it ends with Chloe on the floor and me leaning over her

"okay that's pretty well done girls you're done for today." Abby says

"thank you." we both say

|Two Days To Competition|
|Solo Rehearsals|
"Kayla you do realise i didn't make you compete against Chloe or Maddie is because you've beat them multiple times i already know you're a winner and i expect you to beat whoever gets these solos at nationals." Abby says

"yes." i nod

we start learning my solo it's to the sing Babooshka by Kate Bush and it has alot of emotion

"when the song gets angry i should see that change Kayla think!" Abby calls out

i change my emotion and make all my kicks sharp and on the beat

at the end as the music slows i roll over and reach up and flop my hand down

"alright let's do it from the top" Abby says

we do the dance again and i put my all into it

i finish the routine

"okay take a drink go breathe and give me Maddie, Paige and Nia." Abby says

"thank you." i say and leave the room

"you must be working hard." mom says

i laugh

"um Abby wants Maddie, Nia and Paige" i say

Maddie Nia and Paige go into the studio and mom Holly and Kelly follows in

i take my water bottle and i take a drink

"what do you think of it?" Chloe asks

"it's nice it has alot of acting." i say

|One Day To Nationals|
we are in the studio stretching and Abby and Kristie walks in

"girls i have an announcement to make it is with great sadness Asia has to cut her trip short and not participate in our national finials saying goodbye to a superstar." Abby says

i look around surprised and then we hug Asia

"you were so good this season." i say to her

"thank you." Asia says

then Asia and Kristie leave

Abby then sends us girls out and calls the moms in  

Christi and Leslie come back out

"Chloe come on let's go." Christi says

i look up confused and Leslie status getting Payton's stuff

"what happened?" i ask

"Abby's sending us home for this week." Christi says

"so you're not gonna be at nationals?" Paige asks

"no." Christi says

"but my duet?" Chloe says

"i don't know Chlo she isn't letting you perform.. she's evil." Christi says

i help Chloe get her stuff

i hug Chloe

"i wanna do our duet" i say

"me too." Chloe says

i let go and all the girls hug Chloe

Chloe and Christi then leave and so does Leslie and Payton

we get called back into the studio

"today has been quite interesting sometimes when adults go out to adults places it gets messy you came here a national competition im very very upset that these women chose to do this at out nationals alright let's see what we have" Abby says

|Group Rehearsals|
we are reblocking the group routine and we are doing it with the costumes and they are so pretty

after the group rehearsals Abby calls the moms in

"you have a solo tomorrow last year you didn't win that national title i think you or Kayla should have." Abby says to Maddie

i smile slightly to her i'm happy she got the solo

"Kendall, Chloe's absence means you get the solo you have an opportunity don't throw it away."

"Brooke i'm not having you do the solo that you and Payton worked on you held your national title all year im not gonna mess with that okay?"

"Mackenzie you have a solo tomorrow."

"and the duet.. since Chloe isn't here.. Maddie i'm going to have you and Kayla stay longer tonight so you can fill in for Chloe."

Maddie nods and i give her a small smile

"tomorrow we are walking into a competition done three members of the Abby Lee Dance Company and nothing is gonna stop us from reaching our goals"

"okay so Maddie you'll be the wicked witch i need to see evil and sadness it's acting" Abby says

Maddie learns Chloe's part of the duet and i'm really sad Chloe isn't here to do it but i'm happy i have a duet with Mads

"Kayla i know you're upset you've been begging for a duet with Chloe for ages but her mother ruined it on Chloe and you." Abby
says

i nod

we finish up rehearsals and Abby dismisses us

|Nationals|
we arrive at the competition and we head to our dressing room

"i want you to know that you are here at Nationals this is it this is what it has been all about those kids on those team want to beat you." Abby says

i start my makeup for my solo and Kelly helps

me with my bun

and she sews in my headpiece

"thank you." i say

"you're welcome." Kelly says

Kaylas solo costume with the headpiece at the side of the bun:

i put my team jacket on and we head backstage for Kenzies solo

"good luck just be you don't think about what Asia would do think about what Kenzie would do." i say and i give her a hug

Kenzie enters the stage and her music starts and i absolutely love the start of her routine it's so catchy i love her solo this week it's different from what normally does and it really suits her

Kenzie finishes her solo and i clap from backstage she nailed it!

i give her a hug and i spin her around

"you nailed it!" I say

"next to the stage is act 37 is junior musical theatre solo please welcome Kendall performing VooDoo Doll" the announcer says
Kendall enters the stage and i love the music

she performs her solo and i think she did really good she finishes her solo and exits the stage

Maddie gives Kendall a hug

"good luck." i tell Maddie

"and next to the stage is act number 32 this is Maddie performing Amazing Grace." the announcer says

Maddie enters and she starts her solo

and she's so good like she's so good she's nailing everything she finishes her solo and exits the stage
i give her a small hug

"you okay?" Maddie asks

"nervous." i say

"why you have been winning everything." Maddie says

"and if i don't win this? Abby will be so mad like so mad." i say getting worked up

"don't cry breathe in and out you will be okay." Maddie says

"next to the stage is act number 34 this is Kayla performing Babooshka" the announcer says

i take a breath and i enter the stage

my music starts and i start my solo i put my all into it i make sure my turns are clean and strong and that my emotion changes
and that i make everything sharp i finish my solo by rolling over and reaching up and then flopping my hand down beside me i get up and i exit the stage

Maddie attacks me in a hug

"that was everything." Maddie says

we head back to the dressing room and my mom hugs us three

Abby then comes in cheering and me and Maddie run to hug her

"you were so good!" Abby cheers

me and Maddie them get ready for our duet

Kaylas costume and hair:

Maddies costume and her hair is in a bun:

"okay Maddie and Kayla your duet is up remember your characters." Abby says

we head backstage and i give Maddie a heart form across the stage since we enter from different sides

"please welcome to the stage Maddie and Kayla performing Because I Knew You." the announcer says

we enter the stage and our music starts

i make sure i act it out really well and that we do everything in sync i think we are doing really well and that our turns are good
we finish the routine with Maddie falling on the floor and my leaning over her then i roll up and j walk off then Maddie walks off

i come round to Maddies side and give her a hug

"i liked it i think we did really well." Maddie says

"so do i." i say

"would you of preferred it with Chloe?" Maddie asks

"i just want a duet with Chloe so i am sad but i always love dancing with you" i say

we head back to the dressing room to get ready for the group routine

group costume and headpiece:

we head backstage and the Candy Apples are up first they enter the stage and do their group it's nice but i think we have a better routine

they finish their dance and exit the stage

"and next to the stage is act number 91 this is a junior contemporary small group make some noise for Home Again." the announcer says

we enter the stage and our music starts we start the routine and its very pretty i make sure everything is fluent and smooth i finish of the routine by myself and i exit the stage

"okay starting in the mini solos"

"in third place Ally with act number 4 Finding Home."

"your first runner up is miss Mackenzie with act number 28 Dance Doctor."

i clap for Kenzie and she gets her award

"moving into our junior Duo\trios"

the top nine is announced

"your highest scoring duo/trio is Because I Knew You."

me and Maddie smile and we get our award

i give Maddie and hug and we take a bow and we sit down

"moving into our elite junior soloist"

i take Maddie hand

"third place is Kendall with act number 37 VooDoo Doll."

we clap for Kendall and she gets her award i take Maddies hand again and i squeeze it tight

"your first runner up is Kayla with act number 34 Babooshka."

i smile and i get up to get my award

second year of getting 2nd at nationals..

"and your highest scoring junior soloist is Maddie with act number 32 Amazing Grace."

Maddie comes up and gets her huge trophy and i give her a smile

we take a bow and we sit back down

"moving onto our junior small group."

"in third place act number 67 When She Came Back."

i squeeze Maddies hand

"in second place is act number 93 VooDoo from Candy Apples Dance centre."

i shake Maddie hand slightly

"and your highest scoring elite junior small group  is act number 91 Home Again"

we get up cheering

we get our award

"what studio are you from?"

"ABBY LEE DANCE COMPANY!" we all yell

we come into the dressing room cheering and mom hugs me Maddie and Kenzie

we then go over and hug Abby

"congratulations this was very very very very much earned, Maddie congratulations i think this was an honour that has been deserved all year you've improved you are a team player." Abby says

"Kendall nipping at Maddie and Kaylas heels  doesn't it feel good to give a good performance."
Kendall smiles

"you know Mrs Miller is not well i'm glad we ended our season overall national champions i mean that's what you worked for and since Mrs Miller isn't too well i don't know what the future holds and I don't know if i'll be able to do this again we have to wait and see." Abby says

we then pack up our stuff and head home

it was weird without Chloe being here.

but she'll be back better than ever

and we won nationals!!
