so what the book is officially done i never thought i would ever say that.. i lose motivation for things so the fact i sucked it up and pushed to finish this is literally such a proud moment for me LOL so i love when authors do this so i wanted to do it myself, 2 years ago in like july i got really bored and found this story Melanie Ziegler and i got the biggest inspiration from it and i wanted to do my own.. so that's how i got McKayla Ziegler, i never intended to post the book it was just a side project that's why season one is actually horrendous but you know 1 year later in december i decided to post it and i'm very thankful i did, how a little side project became my main focus for 2 years but anywho here's Kaylas overalls and bits and bops

here's some fun facts (fully inspired by the amazing writer who wrote Melanie Ziegler)

McKayla Ziegler was originally going
to be a Lukasiak.
i had the whole thing planned it was a story following Christi and Marc's middle child Camila Lukasiak it was going to be season one to four then obviously season seven
but idk i think i liked the idea of a Ziegler sister better so i made Kayla and Chloe be best friends instead

(i have started writing a book with the character Camila Lukasiak obviously not in the same universe but if you'd be interested in seeing a book like this but in a completely different light as the Lukasiaks weren't liked by Abby i'll definitely post it for you all)

I wish i had more of a story structure and that i was afraid to add to much.
basically this book doesn't really have a set story
i wish i planned it more and that i didn't just wrote whatever i felt in that moment because it got messy, there's also a lot of things i wish i added or wasn't afraid to do..like more jobs i didn't want to take away from the studio so i tried to limit it when i wish now i gave her more opportunities i just just scared that people would think it was too much and what everyone would think of the book itself instead of having fun.

(luckily with the lukasiak book that i might post  it has more of a story structure and it's more planned... well i think it is)

McKayla Ziegler had different dances to what made the cut.
basically in my notes on my phone i did it by season so it would have the solo the duet or trio and the group
with the award placement and where she was on the pyramid..i went off that from season one to halfway season two or start of season three but i tried to copy it all and paste it somewhere else but i accidentally deleted it and had to create new dances
sob.

i wish i watched season one before i wrote it.
when i started season one it was literally two years ago in lockdown i didn't think this was ever going to be posted i did it because i was losing my mind so i honestly didn't care how well it turned out so i just did it off clips and memories but when i got more into doing it and really considered posting this i started watching the episodes as i wrote the chapters so it was a lot of pausing and starting lmao

I've actually never seen past season four
so i am the BIGGEST Chloe stan she's my favourite on the show so after she left i never watched the show until this obviously so i was going into writing season five and six blind so half of what i wrote is what i felt in the moment bc most of Kaylas reactions to things was my raw reaction to the show HAHA
(i can confirm i never finished the show after i finished this book so i haven't seen past Maddie and Mackenzie say goodbye oops)

The Christmas Special.
so i really didn't like writing the specials, so i never did the christmas one but i thought i'd tell you all what i'd imagine Abby got Kayla..
i never gave it a thought since i didn't write it
and it didn't give any purpose to the book
but if any of you were wondering
i'd imagine Abby gave Kayla
some custom pointe shoes and ballet outfits
and things like that since Kayla liked ballet !

The drama between Maddie and Kayla in 'big trouble in the big apple' was meant to play out differently
basically what i almost did is have Maddie tell Kayla before and she was going to get really mad and tell Chloe or another idea was have Kayla know but not tell Chloe for Maddie so a sad situation between Kayla and Chloe would play out but i hated both ideas.

Kayla and Chloe were meant to have more duets
so in the book Kayla and Chloe only had five duets but i think they were meant to have 9 or 10
some were original some were Maddie and Chloe ones that Kayla replaced Maddie in
but i eventually got lazy and cut a lot of them

keeping on theme Kayla was meant to do Black Swan with Chloe
so im talking about season one it was meant to be a Kayla and Chloe duet not Maddie and Chloe but the duet is so so iconic for them two that i felt so bad changing it so i didn't and that's where the Black Swan solo storyline came about for season 5
keep in mind they were never meant to do a revamped version bc if they did i would've done it i just added that to make Kayla sad abt the solo that week bc Kayla always was going to have the Black Swan solo.

I hate that Kayla did Maddie's
In My Heart solo
i wrote that chapter when i wasn't going to post the book, a lot of things i now hate i wrote in that phase.. but i never changed it because i still liked it at the time and how it showed how much Abby relied on Kayla and how she viewed Kayla on being better than Maddie, but it seems so unrealistic like incredibly unrealistic. originally i had Kayla mention she picked it up when Maddie learnt it, but i took it out and used it as a dig on Abby's part but the whole thing seems unrealistic and i hate it.

Kayla and Chloe's duet 'Haunted' was added the day before i published the chapter.
so Kayla always had a duet that chapter but it wasn't with Chloe..it was actually with Kalani it was a lyrical duet entitled Dancing As One
but i changed it last minute because Kayla and Chloe hardly had duets and they are best friends so i wanted more duets before their very last one in 'Hollywood Here We Come'

Kayla wasn't meant to replace Paige in Les Divas
i just wanted drama and  i really wish i made a bigger deal out of it than i did but i really liked having Kayla in Les Divas

Season Four nationals had been planned for two years.
so when i first started writing i really wanted this chapter to be sad and so the duet was a set in stone thing for 2 years and i planned out the ending and how upset Kayla would be.

Kayla was meant to reunite with Chloe.
so stupid me i thought the people choice was like teen choice so the year Chloe won, the plan was to have Kayla run into Chloe and them just having a sweet moment but turns out people choice is a different thing and i didn't know that until the episode so that mini story was cut.

Kayla was never meant to forget a solo
i really liked the idea of Abby comparing Maddie and Kayla by saying one's perfect and one isn't so when Maddie forgot her solo and Kayla still hadn't i really wanted to play on that for ages but then sure we got to season three i wanted huge drama for Kayla and so i made her forget her solo.

Kaylas sprained ankle was last minute
BASICALLY the next chapter was the spice girls dance and obviously having Kayla and JoJo at the time there was too many so instead of just sending Kayla on a acting job i just snapped her ankle more drama ig

Maddie and Kayla were meant to compete the same solo at the same competition.
it was meant to be a 'Two Girls, One Solo' situation, it was meant to take place in season four 'The Understudies' and Kayla was gonna be
Maddies understudy but at the competition it would be revealed Maddie and Kayla would be competing Fool Me Once
but Maddies would be titled Fool Me Once
and Kaylas Fool Me Twice
but i took it out as Kendall did the solo entitled Fool Me Twice the next episode (that Kayla was not there for)

The throwback episode with Kayla and Melissa wasn't originally going to be a chapter
i didn't write this chapter when i originally wrote season five, this chapter was actually written 3 months after i finished the entire book.

i hated writing the reunion episodes
i was meant to do a lot more than just Girl Talk, The Girls Say Goodbye and Maddie, McKayla and Mackenzie say goodbye but yk they were so boring and took way to long so i only did those three.

Kayla was meant to win season five nationals
i wanted a big win for her last nationals but Abby wouldn't of been that mad if one of her favourites won so the idea got cut quickly.

David wasn't meant to be in as many episodes as he was
he was only meant to be for fillers in between classes but i liked the idea of Kayla having this bond with another teacher so i kept him for longer

Kaylas descendants job was always going to happen
it's been planned since the very beginning but she was meant to be in descendants one because obviously the dates for the second movie didn't match when i did it but there was no child character in the first film and i wanted Kayla to be relevant enough in the film so i just pushed the dates forward for the second film and gave her Dizzy.

Kayla had a fair few dances that didn't make the cut
Kayla had about four solos i either changed or took out for example, 'Beheaded' was originally a Alice theme dance and Kayla also had a lot of musical theme solos that i took out.

Kaylas 'Lifeboat' solo had a different thought process
so if you couldn't tell i LOVE theatre so alot and i mean alot of Kaylas dances had something musical theatre related like ABBA or Wicked or ALW Cinderella and Six but Kayla also had about five solos to do with the musical Heathers.
Heathers is my all time favourite show so when i decided alot of her themes it was a lot of Heathers
her first Heather solo was a JD inspired dance entitled 'Greetings and Salutations' original i know.. but that was meant to feature in season 3   nationals
and she then had Veronica, Chandler and Duke solo spread across seasons 4,5,6 but they all got cut because i HATED them but i kept Lifeboat
the original song was meant to be the actual song Lifeboat from the show which Heather Mcnamara sings i loved the costume and i didn't want to cut it so i found a new song and i kept it as her season 4 national solo!

the Kayla and Brooke duet is and was random
i have no idea why i did it, it's the most random pairing ever looking back i should've done Kayla and Chloe but i think i was still in my stage of 'this won't be posted'

Kayla was originally winning the cover for the magazine.
it was right after she forgot her solo i wanted a reason for her to be back on top to get a solo i made the cover and everything and wrote it into the chapter..weeks later i hated that she won so i changed it and gave the win back to Kendall

The Freaks Like Me music video
obviously that whole thing wasn't in the show so i forgot they did it..but for the universe for Kayla
she played Lady Treamaine and was Rapunzel for the popular clique

Kayla originally won Season 3 nationals
her actual original national solo was Once Upon A Dream (after i cut the heathers solo LOL)
but that didn't seem good enough to beat Amazing Grace so i switched it with Babooshka so she'd win, so when it came to season 4 nationals i wanted some pressure on Kayla to win but if she won the year before she wouldn't so i switched it to where Maddie won nationals and put in digs here and there about Kayla losing nationals two years in a row the entire season four so the s4 nationals would be a big win for her.

The Wicked duet was always Maddie and Kayla.
obviously i'm not stupid i knew Chloe wasn't in season 3 nationals, but that chapter is actually rewritten like some things stayed the same but pyramid and the competition/awards is all different.. so when i first wrote that chapter Abby just gave the duet to Maddie and Kayla
but when i rewrote it i wanted drama so i made it look like it was meant to be a Chloe and Kayla duet 
(i'm evil i'm sorry)

i almost tried to put Kayla into a Taylor Swift music video
this idea got cut literally 3 minutes after i tried it
i don't even know what video i tried to put her in
but i was like this won't work
so a short and sweet idea HAHA
love Taylor though !!

Kenzie wasn't meant to beat Kayla in 'McKayla vs Mackenzie'
originally Kenzie beat Maddie AND Kayla in 'Maddie vs Mackenzie' but that didn't seem legit bc Kaylas dance was meant to be a big beautiful lyrical so i took Kayla out so by that point Kenzie never beat Kayla but i really really wanted her too so when i got to writing that chapter that Kayla wasn't even meant to be there for i have Kayla a MT solo so it was easy to beat with the acro solo Kenzie had that week, i tried to make it the biggest deal as i could but honestly i don't think i pulled it off so it just seemed random.

I really considered having Kayla return in season 7 with Chloe and Christi.
i wasn't ready to let go of writing the book so i almost did it like i was that close i started planning events around the season for her,
but it would only be Kayla no Maddie no Kenzie or no Melissa so Christi would be like Kaylas mom
momma Christi moments central!
BUT season 7 was like closure of all the girls and i just felt like Kayla didn't need it like she got her closure episode like three episodes of closure and none of the other Zieglers were going to be there so i eventually didn't see a point and scratched it

but that's that McKayla Ziegler is now over.
i don't know if i'll write a sequel
i might but idk what it would be about.. (i'm not good at making things up from scratch)
