"come on girls!" Abby says as we walk in

"well congratulations you won, was it your best performance? mmm no."

"didn't we win by seven points?" Kelly asks

"i'm not gonna deny the fact that you won that's great i don't think it was your best performance the routine had mistakes, Chloe why would you go onstage and not do the correct choreography? everybody else did the choreography i gave them that's beginning to become a pattern for you isn't Chloe you're lucky you're even back in this dance studio"

"on the bottom Paige, you were good I'm waiting for you to be great did you really use your face and get in every single one of those judges hearts? no you need to work on that"

"and next Kendall, you didn't stick out to me in your improv it should've been ooh wow look at me who's that, i didn't do that"

"next is Brooke, Brooke you are fourteen years old when are we going to see you stand out as the leader as the forman on the job as the role model?"

"next Nia, you were third overall high score"

"and Mackenzie overall high score of the mini division you did a great job you went out there and you won"

"next Maddie, Maddie you had a solo your emotion was amazing."

"and at the top of the pyramid once again is Kayla, Kayla not only did you win the highscore solo in your age division but you were also the highest scoring solo in the entire competition."

i smile

"now Chloe did you notice you are not on the pyramid? you're not in it you're lucky to be here as it is you can't go out onstage and do what you want" Abby says

"this week we are travelling to binardsville New Jersey so you are going to get kids who have amazing technique and killer costumes they're going to be strong competitors and everyone will be in the group dance expect Mackenzie the music is entitled your dream is my dream and it's big and it's grand and it's a beautiful piece of music and i'm going to be using a boy."

"Mackenzie you're not in the group dance that means you're getting a solo the name of your routine is love is war, Maddie your solo is entitled lifeline, Kayla you've won for the past two weeks i want to see it again your solo is entitle i'm a star" Abby says

i smile

"i have a duet with Kayla and Brooke it's entitled little sister"

my eyes widen and i smile to Brooke and she smiles back

never thought Abby would give me and Brooke a duet

"i have one more routine to give out, hopefully we have time for one more duet and the duet will be Kendall and Nia, it's contemporary and it's cool and the name of it is dig it" Abby says

"alright you all are dismissed thank you very much, ladies spread apart"

"can i have my guest boy please" Abby calls out

"hello hi good to see you" Abby says to nick

"NICK!" we all scream and hug Nick

"oh there's a hug hubba hubba" Abby says to Brooke and we laugh and Brooke pats Nick on the shoulder

"so you know you're the male lead in this" Abby says

"yup." Nick says

"do you know who the female lead is?" Abby asks

"no." Nick says

"who do you want it to be?" Abby asks

"is it Brooke?" Nick asks

"it is.. so if she doesn't bring it i'm picking somebody else" Abby says

and Brooke smiles in that knowing look

"alright." Nick says

"so you guys are walking duh duh" Abby says.

"so Kayla you're one of the ones with the emotional face so what i want you to do is pretend that this is your mother and she's dying and you're walking and he's carrying her and she's so sick"

i smile to Brooke

first she's my older sister and now my mother.

but this is so based on les mis i listen to the soundtrack after i did my solo and it's obvious

that Brooke is protraying Fantine and i'm Cosette

as they do the walk bit i do my solo bit and me and Brooke even have partner bits!

"Uh Brooke you're on the inside of Kayla inside Brooke!" Abby yells out

we finish up the group routine and i really love it

|Group Rehearsals|
we are going through the routine and Chloe isn't here because she's running late.

Abby comes in and she immediately stops and looks around

"where's Chloe? her mother isn't here either" Abby says

Abby looks up to the moms and mouths

"where's Christi?"

Abby starts going through the group dance without Chloe

"make that circle big!" Abby yells out

Chloe then walks through the door and runs in

Abby doesn't really pay to much attention to it

so we finish up and get dismissed

we are in the dancers den and Kelly walks in

"alright you ready?" Kelly asks

"i need someone to hang with let's go! we'll pretend Abby's not there!"

"i should go just to spite her!" Christi laughs

Christi gets up and starts getting her coat on

"hurry up they're going to leave without us" Kelly says

Chloe goes over to hug Christi

"love you" Christi says

"go go quickly" Chloe rushes and helps her mom

"how's it fair that THEY get to go" i huff

"they're drinking K you wouldn't want to be there" Maddie says

i laugh and i go over to Chloe

"i haven't spoken to you in ages" i say as i sit beside her

"i know." she says

"how have you been fill me in" i say

"you've been there to hear all my drama" Chloe huffs

"school drama?" i ask

"not really" Chloe says

i groan

Gia then calls us in for the group rehearsals

we go over the group then Gia starts my solo

|Solo Rehearsals|
my solo this week is kinda jazzy the song is i'm a star dance version because the original was not dance worthy it shows a lot of
my technique and my turns and my facial expressions so i really love it

"you're going to do 10 a la secondes into 2 pirouettes and then your going to flex your hands and put them at the side of your face" Gia says

i do the turns  then the ending pose

"okay good let's go from the top" Gia says

we go from the top and i finish and i get dismissed

"you're competing tomorrow and you're only learning this now so get your head in the game"
Abby says

this week me and Brooke have a duet and it's lyrical but Brooke is doing some acro

and there's alot of partner work and Brooke lifts me at times it's about two sisters and the older one so dying, i think that's a pattern for Brooke this week

"when Brooke goes down Kayla nudge her three times then lay on top of her" Abby says

i do the ending and we go from the top

"make sure to go over that when you can" Abby says and she dismisses us

me and Brooke go into Studio B and we go over the duet

"Kayla Abby wants you for your solo" Maddie comes in saying
i look over and nod

"we can do it again tomorrow before we do it" Brooke says

"fun for us" i say

and we laugh and i head to studio a

"okay let me see this." Abby says

my music starts and i do my solo

"leaps need to be higher" Abby calls out

i finish my solo

"okay the turns look good, acting look good the leaps need to be higher" Abby says

i nod

"okay you're good you can go" Abby says

"thank you" i say and i walk out

|Competition Day| 
we head into the competition to the dressing room and we set up

"okay girls listen this is New Jersey and every time we come to new jersey bad things happen" Abby says

"that's true" Holly mumbles

mom helps me get ready for my duet

Kaylas costume

Brookes costume:

i put my team jacket on over my costume

"Maddie come over here" Abby calls

Maddie goes over to Abby

Maddie comes back over

"what was she saying?" i ask

"she asked if i knew the duet and i said no and then she asked me to get Kendall to go over it with me." Maddie whispers
"why would she do that?" i whisper

"because Nias sick." Maddie whispers

"if she asks are you going to say yes to do it?" i whisper

"i don't know, if i say no Abby will be mad at me but if i say yes the moms will lose it" Maddie whispers

"just see how it goes" i whisper back

Maddie nods

Abby goes out to talk to Jill and Jill comes back and smiles at Maddie

"what did she say?" Kendall asks

"nothing, Abbys worried about Nias cough." Jill says

"why didn't she talk to Nia about it?" mom asks

"are you her doctor?" Holly asks

"no." Jill says

Kenzies solo is up first and we all go backstage with her 

Kenzie enters for her solo and she's doing really good and when she exits i hug her so tight

we head back to the dressing room

"oh my god Kenz you did so good" mom says

"hey hey hey" Abby says

and Kenzie goes to hug Abby

"come one K come on come on come on" Jill says and takes Kendall out of the dressing room

"woah woah woah where are you going?" Abby asks

"the restroom" Jill says

"Holly can you go find out where Jill is" Abby asks

"sure i can do that i'll sew you in a second" Holly says

"they're in the bathroom" Nia says

"okay i'll go look in the bathroom" Holly says and leaves the dressing room

i start warming up and doing some turns

"she's a piece of work, Nia come outside their just reviewing the dance" Holly says

i land my turns and i go over to sit with Maddie

"what's she doing?" Christi asks

"Giannas working with Kendall." Holly says

"what? Gianna is?" Abby asks

"yeah, i'm just going to grab her" Holly says

"you know what Holly that's not Gianna that's Jill" Abby clarifies

"that's Jill, she's just being pushy and trying to get ahead." Holly says

Jill, Holly, Nia and Kendall come back in

"i didn't realise that was considered a private but it upset Holly and i can't do it anymore" Jill says

"why." Abby asks

"because i don't want anyone to be upset with me" Jill says

"oh so you're going to be like Melissa" Abby says

"i want her to be the best that she can be" Jill says

"right you need to decide do you want the mothers to not be upset with you or do you want your kid to get better" Abby asks

"i can't have them angry at me." Jill says

"why are the other moms in the group" Abby starts

"because we are a team cause" Jill says

"more important than your own child" Abby finishes

"they are not, obviously they are not" Jill says

"then you shouldn't give a darn what holly cares" Abby says

"Nia how you feeling?" Abby asks as me and Brooke start to mark our duet

"good." Nia says

"really?" Abby asks

Nia nods

"alright deep breaths" Abby says

we head backstage to do the duets

Kendall and Nia are up first with their duet

"do you want me to take your jacket?" Maddie asks me

"yes please" i say and i unzip my jacket and hand it to her

Chloe takes Brookes jacket and me and Brooke start to go over our duet

Kendall and Nia finish and exit the stage

Brooke starts on the opposite side so she starts to walk to the opposite side

"we got this" i say and i quickly hug Brooke

"please welcome to the stage entry number 41 Brooke and Kayla with Little Sister" the announcer says
me and Brooke enter and our music starts we do our routine and i make sure my emotion is really on point me and Brooke are nailing our partner work with our lifts and we get to the end and i do my turns and Brooke falls to the ground and i roll onto my knees and i nudge her and then i fall ontop of her, the crowd cheers and i stand up and i walk of first acting like i'm crying and then Brooke exits from the opposite side

Maddie hugs me "that's was phenomenal" she says and hands me my jacket

"thank you" i say

Brooke comes round to our side of the stage and i jump on top of her

"we did it!" i say

"i think Abby liked it too" Brooke says

"that's good" i say and she puts me down

"i think we did a good job" Brooke says and high fives me

i head back to the dressing room with Maddie to get ready for my solo

"how good are you at doing buns?" i ask

"i'll manage" Maddie says

"okay hurry up" i say

"i'm trying" Maddie says as she pulls at my hair

"maybe we should've gotten mom to do this" i say

"no i'm doing good" Maddie says

"and mom can't even do hair! if anyone we should get Christi."

"you make a fair point." i laugh

Kaylas solo costume with the star at the back of the bun:

"put the earrings in while i start your makeup" Maddie hands me my earrings

"kay." i say

i put the earrings in and Maddie does my makeup

"good?" Maddie asks

"good." i answer

me and Maddie head backstage again

"give me your jacket" i say

Maddie unzips her jacket and hands me it

"good luck" i say

"thank you." Maddie says

"alright next in the junior solo division we have entry number 27 this is Maddie with Lifeline" the announcer says and Maddie enters the stage

Maddie starts her solo and it's very beautiful she finishes her solo and exits the stage

"that was amazing" i say and hand her back the jacket

"where's yours?" Maddie asks

"oh, i left it in the dressing room" i say

"good luck" Chloe comes over and hugs me

"thank you" i say

"next in our junior solo division we have entry number 29 this is Kayla with Im A Star" the announcer says

i strut on and i start my solo i make sure all my acting is very over the top and i'm nailing this solo i do my 10 a la secondes and into my ending pose i see the crowd cheering and i smile to myself as i strut off

"where did those turns come from" Paige says

"i'm sure any one of you could do ten" i say

we head back to the dressing room to get ready for the group routine

Kayla group costume:

"uh uh you can't stop and do that Kendall no" Abby says as we run through the group

"alright we ready to go?" Abby says

and we head backstage

"alright next in the junior small group division this is entry number 43 with your dream will be my dream" the announcer says

we enter and our music starts i think this dance is gorgeous and the partner work i have is clean

we finish the routine and exit the stage

"second place with a score of 284 entry number 12 love is war"

i clap for Kenzie and she gets her award

"moving onto our junior solo division"

i take Maddies hand

"fourth place this is entry number 16 silent"

"third place this is entry number 32 arabesque box"

"second place with a score of 291 this is entry number 27 lifeline"

i let go of Maddies hand and clap and Maddie goes up to get her award

"and in first place with a score of 295 this is entry number 29 I'm A Star"

i smile and i go up to get my award.

we take a bow and sit down

"now moving onto our elite junior duet/trio division"

"in fifth place entry number 36 dig it"

Kendall and Nia go to get their award

the next places are called out

i grip Maddie and Chloe's hand

"in first place entry number 41 Little Sister"

i smile and me and Brooke go up to get our award

i hug Brooke so tight we take a bow and sit back down

"moving onto our elite junior small group division"

"fourth place entry number 44 hollywood stars"

"third place entry number 41 my fortal"

"second place with a score of 279 entry number 49 my dream will be your dream"

i clap and Brooke gets our award

we enter the dressing room

"you guys look happy for getting second" Kelly says

mom hugs me "i'm proud of you"

"thank you" i say

Abby comes into the dressing room silent

"well well well" Abby says

"they were beautiful" Kelly says

"ladies i think some of you need a break, Kendall did your private with Gianna help with the duet? i think yous two have a big whole to dig yourselves out off" Abby says

"Maddie what happened? i gave you a beautiful piece which would normally beat any jazz routine Kayla does, i gave you a lifeline you let it slip right out of your hands you were that close."

"and Mackenzie i firmly believe like Maddie you need to get knocked down a few pegs because that's gonna make you work harder and this was a love story and the one thing i thought you would take home was that you love to dance."

"Kayla you were one of my only winners i know i can count on you to go out and win, and Brooke you won the duet but i think you had a little boost having this one in it" Abby points to me

"you know what ladies i don't wanna be mean but it's tough love sometimes, i love you kids i do i love all my students but i don't love what happened out there today."
