last week was pretty fun but i don't know how Miss Abby will feel about second

we walk into pyramid and i'm beside Chloe

"what's with your shoes?" Miss Abby says to Jill

i turn my head over to Jill and she's wearing big thick gray boots

"i didn't you you'd mind, i'm on my toes" Jill says

"this floor is 68,000 dollars" Miss Abby says

"alright first i want to talk about last week i must say i'm a little disappointed we were just out danced it's that energy level, you
can't have a bunch of slugs onstage this weekend we will be attending Dance Explosion in New Jersey we're going to be getting some heavy hitters there let me tell you, now i'm gonna start with the pyramid and first.."

"i have Kendall, Kendall i thought you did a nice job you're here because your mother is way to needy." 

"Abby that's ridiculous." Jill says

"why isn't she doing a solo, why isn't she doing a duet why isn't she doing a special part" Miss Abby says

"and that's needy? that's inquisitive why isn't she doing a solo?" Jill says

"you're punishing her for something i did."

"BINGO! there you go!" Miss Abby says

"moving on Nia, once again i need to see energy i need to see excitement."

"next we have Brooke, you're back but is Brooke really back?"

"moving on Paige, great job in the tuck i just need to see you do that in all of your dancing."

Paige nods slowly

"Maddie, you danced well but i expect more from you."

"Chloe, same thing great performance onstage you just need to learn to pick up quicker."

"Kayla, you shined in the group number i definitely think if you did that as a solo you would've won the entire thing but unfortunately only having one girl having the energy isn't going to win it." 

"thank you." i say

"and on top of the pyramid Mackenzie." Miss Abby says

we all clap for Kenzie and i give her a thumbs up

"she won in New Jersey she won in Long Island New York do you have another win for New jersey? i don't know." 

"we are not going to be doing a group routine this week, each and every dance will be doing a solo."

i beam

"it's every man for himself this is your chance to shine and for one time only you all get to help out with the costumes." Miss Abby says to the moms

they do not looked pleased

"this is your chance to go for the tony Christi, you're gonna show me what you have and i can vetoe it or i can accept it" 
"i don't want to see anything from any other studios i wanna see you come up with someone original." 

the moms are then dismissed and we start to stretch

i have classes more majority of the day since we don't need a group rehearsal so i'm in tap at the moment

"miss Kaylaaa how are you today" David asks as i get my shoes on

"i'm good." i say

"any fun dances this week?" he asks

"we all have solos this week." i say

"oh jeez so who are you against?" he asks

"um, Maddie, Chloe, Paige, Nia and Kendall" i say

"ah awesome well let's get started" David says

we go over the tap solo Anything Goes and i really love it

i do my finish pose and David claps

"ahh you're adorable, your facials are off the charts." David says

i beam and we go over some steps then i'm dismissed

now it's my solo rehearsal

"Kayla you have a lyrical solo this week called Frozen, there's no real story it's just a pretty lyrical solo but your ending pose is like ur a statue that's the point of the dance" Miss Abby says to me

i nod and we learn the dance it's to the song Frozen by Pianoholic

"wait can you do that turn sequence Chloe did in her Dream On A Star then leap out of it?" Miss Abby asks

"i can try" i say

i do the sequence and my leap and i roll on the floor

Miss Abby claps

"i want that at the end of the routine then you'll role on the floor and your ending pose.." Miss Abby says

"get on your knees and bend backwards and hold your hand out above you and look at it." Miss Abby says

i do that pose and Abby nods

"gorgeous so this ending is what's going to make you win it needs to be perfect." Miss Abby says

"yes." i say

"alright you're dismissed." Miss Abby says

"thank you." i say and i leave studio a

|Two Days Till Competition|
i enter my private with David and we are just working on new steps it was a fun private

"also Kayla, Abby invited me to come to the competition this weekend as she wants me to see you all perform." David says

i beam i've been wanting him to see me do a lyrical solo for ages

"are you gonna be on the show?" i ask

"oh no no, leaving the spotlight for you kiddo," he says and i laugh as i walk out

everyone's at the front desk and Maddie signals for me to come over

"the competitions been cancelled." she whispers to me

"huh?" i say

"so what are our options?" Jill asks

"we have eight solos, the kids are going to do their routines somewhere." Miss Abby says

"why don't we call around and see if there's another competition we can go too." Kelly says

we then get dismissed back to classes

i'm going over my solo with Gia and i do the turn sequence with the leap
with my ending pose

Miss Abby then walks in with the moms and girls and David! he smiles to me and i smile back

"girls we are going to a competition it's in Clute Texas, i want the girls to practice i'm keeping them here until their dances are finished and perfect the show must go on." Miss Abby says

|Competition Day|
we walk in and the competition is on a gym floor

i am absolutely terrified

we enter the dressing room and we stretch

"i am so nervous" i say to Maddie

"same." she agrees

David isn't allowed in the dressing room so he's in the audience

"okay Brooke get your hair up quickly, girls this isn't what i intended it's a gym floor you can handle it." Miss Abby says
my mom starts getting us ready Maddie gets ready first then Kenzie then me

Kaylas solo costume and hair:

Brookes up first so i get my jacket on and sit infront of David

"hi" he whispers to me

"hi" i whisper back

"you look lovely" he says

"not even half of it" i say

"welcome Brooke from the Abby Lee Dance company" the announcer says
i turn back around and watch Brooke perform and she was outstanding
she finishes and we all clap

we head back to the dressing room and it's Kenzies turn next we goes over her dance and we start to head back

"good luck Kenz!" i shout to her before turning to go to the audience

we sit back down and it's Kenzies turn!

"welcome Mackenzie!" the announcer says
Kenzie enters and she's absolutely adorable
all her tricks are really clean she has such a good chance of winning
she finishes and we all clap

we head back and it's coming up to the juniors turn to dance

i start to go over my routine and then Jill pulls out Kendall costume

"oh that's lovely did you make that?" Christi asks

"um no." Jill says

"no you didn't make that." Kelly says

"i didn't say i made it." Jill says

"did she wear it at her other studio?" Christi asks

"no." Jill says

"you just had that hanging in your closet?" Kelly says

"well maybe it wasn't mine maybe it was someone else's and she lent it to me." Jill says

"Helloooo" Miss Abby says as she enters the dressing room

"Jill let me see her costume" Miss Abby says

"okay this is the white costume." Jill says

"you did not whip that up last night!" Miss Abby says

"oh i never said i whipped it up last night you never said to go home and whip up, i'm not becky home mecky i don't whip up costumes." Jill says

"where did you get that costume because obviously it's nit peices of something you put together." Miss Abby says

"i just wanted you to use peices at home and make something at the last minute."

"this is what i came up with." Jill says

"well whose is that may i ask?" Miss Abby asks

"this is kendall costume." Jill says

then Gia comes over

"girls how about we go rehearse outside?" Gia says

we nod and leave

Kendall seems really flustered

"hey it's okay you'll get to wear the costume" i assure

Jill then exits and takes Kendall's hand and walks away

"is she not dancing.?" i ask Chloe

she shrugs then Mom leaves the dressing room and walks after Jill

we walk back in the dressing room and Jill is getting Kendall get her stuff

i'm so confused

then Miss Abby walks in and i'm turning

"Kayla don't keep going over that you'll get tired you'll be fine." Miss Abby warns

i stop turning and start marking it

"what's behind you what's the blue thing sticking out?" Miss Abby then asks Nia

"it's a heating pad." Nia says

"a heating pad?" Miss Abby says

"she's having a lot of Back and Hip pain." Holly says

"the hip pain is maybe because you're working really hard in ballet class you're using muscles you've never used before." Miss Abby says

"i'm just trying to keep her, i told her she could dance she can dance through the pain." Holly says

"there's a difference in being sore and being injured, injured you can't dance sore you have to work through the pain." Miss Abby says

and then we exit to perform onstage and we enter through the door

"i'm really nervous" i say

"why?" Maddie asks

"i wanna do well and win for David because he knows me as this winner" i say

"you'll be amazing and it's you Kayla you'll win" Maddie says and she hugs me

"welcome Nia!" the announcer says

Nia enters the stage and she did a good job she really isn't competition to me though
Nia finishes and exits and we all hug her

the Kendall runs through the doors with a white bra and booty shorts

"you're dancing?" i ask

she nods and then shakes her nerves

"welcome Kendall!" the announcer says
and Kendall enters and does her solo she was pretty i liked her solo
Kendal exits and takes a drink

"good luck Chlo" i say and hug her

"please welcome to the floor Chloe!" the announcer says

"woooo!" i cheer for her

she's amazing at ballet and her costume is gorgeous

i really love seeing Chloe to ballet she was amazing she exits and i hug her
i'm up next and i shake the nerves

"Please welcome Kayla" the announcer says
i enter and i see David smiling

i'm so nervous

my music starts and i pour my heart into it
i make sure to have emotion and to make everything clean and fluent
the turn sequence is coming up and i hope i nail it
i do the turns
and i leap and i then do my ending pose
and everyone cheers
i'm so proud of myself

i get up and exit and Maddie hugs me so tight

"that's the best i've ever seen you dance." Maddie says

i beam and Chloe hands me water

"good luck Mads" i say

"Welcome Maddie!" the announcer says
she starts her dance and it's very different from what she normally does but it's very nice
the she goes to do a drink ariel and she falls

"oh my god" i say

"is she okay?" Chloe asks

"i don't know." i say

she continues to dance but when she finishes she runs over to a stage manager and cries and mom jumps up with Kenzie

"i gotta go" i say and i grab my jacket and run after my Mom Kenzie and Maddie

they are in the nurse office

"i fell on my hip" Maddie cries

"you feel on your hip?" the nurse asks

"i was gonna do a dive front walkover and i went for it and it didn't work" Maddie says while crying

"hey, it's okay." Miss Abby says

"she said Miss Abbys going to be mad at me." Mom says

"no i'm not gonna be mad at you sweetie, but you started to dive." Miss Abby says

"she was gonna dive." Mom says

"it was too slippery." Maddie says

"i know you started to dive but in the middle you second guessed yourself and did an ariel front walkover but you did a front toss" Miss Abby says

i don't really understand what Maddie tried to do but whatever it was it failed

"any blood?" Miss Abby asks the nurse

"no not even a bruise." the nurse says

we finish up and Miss Abby carries maddie back into the dressing room and i get out of my dance costume but i stay in my makeup and hair

"Paige can you get you hair done please." Miss Abby says

Paige gets ready and gets backstage to perform

we sit on the audience and i sit infront of David again

"you were phenomenal kiddo." David whispers to me

"thank you." i say

Paige enters and does her dance and she was on fire she nailed all her tricks

"and now our junior solo awards." The announcer says

they give out awards and we are down to the top four

"in fourth place, Brooke." The Announcer says

Brooke goes up and gets her award

"in third place, Chloe." The announcer says

i clap for Chloe

"in second place, Kayla." the announcer says
i put on a smile and get my award
i am heartbroken and i sit back down

i was meant to win

"and our junior champion, Paige." the announcer says

we all start screaming for Paige and she got her award and banner and we hug her so tight

"oh my god Paige you won!!!" i say

we all head back to the dressing room and Abby congratulates Paige and we get ready to go and i see David on my way out

we takes me aside as we walk out

"how do you feel?" he asks

"i'm devastated i got second but i'm really really happy for Paige." i say

"why are you sad seconds still amazing." he says

"i wanted to show you the winner you say i am." i say

"what you performed onstage was phenomenal broadway worthy don't ever put yourself down over a second place award. and you didn't even show you were sad your face lit up for Paige." he says and hugs me

"thank you." i say
