"come on let's go!" Abby says as we walk into studio A

"on the presidential campaign this means peace, but here at the Abby Lee Dance Company it means second, not only are we getting beat by Cathy's brilliant team of imports we're getting beat by teachers i've never even heard of before"

"alright i wanna get to the pyramid, first i have Mackenzie you didn't dance."

"next Paige, that flag was a symbol of everybody in that audience don't do a disservice to this country"

"and next Kendall, we worked on your facial expressions they've improved we worked on your stamina that's getting there now focus where your eyes go that's where the judges eyes go, you can't watch Kayla like a member of the audience."

i look over to Kendall and she's rolling her eyes

"and next i have Brooke, Brooke during the rehearsal you did an outstanding job then we get onstage and you go right by Asia and the flag and wait four counts you have to think onstage."

"Chloe you did a solo you did a nice job you were third only to Maddie and Kayla, corrections hyperextending the elbows not leg thing the back of the knee you can fix all of those things but you have to want too."

"and next Nia, you did an outstanding job i thought you looked good in the group i noticed you in the group i also noticed that you were smart and you figured out you couldn't lift Asia until she got there."

"and next Asia you won the overall high score in the petite division i think that you're a little firecracker and i think you step onstage and you cause an explosion."

"and next Maddie, you came second but only to your sister which is good you're chomping at her heels you're fighting for number one."

"and on top of the pyramid is Kayla, you won the overall highscore in the junior division, your friends voted for you and your performance was amazing you are the type of personality that this country was build on, you all know the song America the beautiful Kayla you are America the beautiful."

"you're welcome" Abby says

no one seems happy.

"before we get started this week's assignments i wanna as Mackenzie where your cast is you should have an aircast on that foot." Abby says

"my foot doesn't hurt anymore." Kenzie says

"and where's your doctors excuse." mom says

"did you go to the doctor again?" Abby asks

"no..oh wait yeah." Kenzie says

"no you did not Kenzie you didn't go back to the doctor." mom says

"can you let me speak? he said that it's okay that i can dance." Kenzie says

"did this happen" i whisper to Maddie

she shakes her head

"and how did he look at your foot again?" Abby asks

"he didn't." Kenzie says

"so over the phone?" Abby asks

Kenzie nods

"what he said that she has to rest it until it's feels 100% she knows her own body." mom says

"she knows her own body she can't even create a sentence to answer me with" Abby says

"i'm sorry the doctor said 2 weeks and i don't feel comfortable going against his wishes it has not been 2 weeks." Abby says

"let's talk about this week, we are headed to energy dance competition in youngstown Ohio"

"the group number is entitled Hear No Evil everyone is in it expect Mackenzie, Kayla and Maddie yous will not be dancing in the group routine you both will be assisting me with the choreography."

i look to Maddie and back to Abby

all three Zieglers out?

"Maddie and Kayla you will be doing a solo, Maddie the name of your solo is They'll Never Change and Kayla your solo is entitled Grown."

"Asia you will be performing a duet with Nia"

we clap for them

"the name of your routine is move you too and Asia im expecting my little firecracker to light Nia up we're going to get Nia moving faster jumping higher, Nia when Asia is up here your leg better be up there you can't be any less than Asia is onstage"

"i have one more solo it's going to Chloe it's contemporary the name of the routine is About Mother, moms you are dismissed ladies spread apart"

|Solo Rehearsals|

i walk into studio A

"i have a little surprise for you this week.. a little help with the choreography" Abby says

i turn around to see David walking through the door

i gasp

"David!" i say and i run to hug him

"hi kiddo!" he says

"he's helping me this week because you've been winning every single solo, eight solos and she has won every single one." Abby says and she high fives me

i smile

"that's impressive well done you." David says

"okay Kayla you have a Jazz solo this week it's called Grown because since the last season and even the start of this season you've grown as a dancer, i took you out of that group because those other girls don't help you grow well expect for Maddie."
Abby says

i nod David starts learning me my solo and i'm inlove it's to the song Grown by Little Mix and i absolutely love when David does my solos because he adds a lot of fluent moves and a lot of fun turn sequences

"sharp!" Abby yells out

i do my last turns into my leap and ending pose

"okay good it's really fast and i know it's going to be hard but make sure it's tight so when you leap it's cleaner." David says

"yes." i say

"okay Kayla you're good go get a drink and work on that solo." Abby says

"thank you!" i smile and walk out

|Group Rehearsals|
"Maddie and Kayla are demonstrating this week because they aren't a second place performer, they are a winner they are a champion, a artist they want to do this 24/7" Abby says

they start learning the group dance and me and Maddie watch from the side

Maddie has a notepad and i help do the dance with the girls

i get up check the notepad

"mention that Asia might need less choreography." i whisper

"Abby won't take her out of the group." Maddie whispers

"no but it shows we are observant to what she's saying." i whisper

Maddie nods and writes it down

after the group rehearsal we hand Abby the notepad

"i didn't know if we were meant to write corrections down but we did it anyways we can take it out of its wrong." i say

"no no that's good, you're paying attention to what they are doing and keeping them in line that's what your job is." Abby says

me and Maddie nod

"okay i just didn't want you to get mad if we were doing the whole thing wrong this entire time" i laugh nervously

Abby laughs

"no you're good." Abby says

we nod and walk out

|Two Days To Competition|
Abby calls everyone into Studio A

"i have a big announcement to make i just got a phone call and i have been officially invited to be a guest host on the view." Abby says

we all gasp and start clapping

that's amazing!!

"a host?! oh my god!" mom says

"so i will be hosting the entire hour of the view, of course i'm going to have the Abby Lee Dance company competition team one of our winning group routines perform on the view" Abby says

i gasp we clap

"exiting?"

"yes" we all say

"so next week we will be travelling to New York City." Abby says

"yes!" i squeal and i jump up and down

"unfortunately the lady from the view said i need to submit the routine they're going to be performing tonight so we need to do something that is exciting and that lets people think" Abby says

"alright let's go from the top Maddie can you run it" Abby says

Maddie is demonstrating and i'm sitting beside Abby

"alright Kendall and Brooke obviously we're doing a different time and they thought they were right and the other people were way ahead because they thought they were right"

"Maddie who do you think was right?"

"fighters when we do the turn." Maddie says

"alright let's go again, Kayla demonstrate with Maddie." Abby says

i get up and help Maddie demonstrate

|View Group Rehearsals§
Abby chose The Last Text number we did at nationals and i'm very excited because i loved that dance i'm sure Maddies thrilled as i'm stuck on her lap for another two weeks!

"you're gonna have to do Mackenzie all i need you to do is a round off backhand spring to that corner then fall on the ground" Abby says to Asia

we all get on the box that will be the car seat i get on Maddies knee

"you've gotten heavier" Maddie sighs

"liar!" i say

she puts her left arm around my waist

we go over the routine and i prefer Kenzie doing the routine Asia isn't strong in acro.

we do the last bit of the routine and i let go of Maddies hand and fall

"listen this is for the view millions and millions of people are watching that there will be no mistakes." Abby says

|Competition Day|
me, Maddie and Kenzie and mom arrive at the studio

"hey hey how you doing?" Abby asks

"good." me and Maddie say

"you have to go this weekend if i leave you at home then you dance all weekend what if you get hurt again and you aren't good for new york city then Asias going to be doing the view." Abby says to Kenzie before we walk into the dancers den

"i wanna dance!" Kenzie starts to cry

"i know you wanna dance." mom says

"i don't wanna be taken out of the dance." Kenzie cries

i walk over to Kenzie and bend infront of her

"hey if you rest this week it shows that your willing to rest to be good for the view, and next week you're allowed to dance so next week show Miss Abby why you should be in the group i promise she'll let you do it, it's two moves she'll let you." i say

Kenzie nods and i hug her

|Solo Rehearsals|
i walk into the room with Abby and David and we go over my routine

i finish the routine

"that was perfect, if you go do it like that you are winning the entire competition." Abby says

i smile

"also i'd like to let you know that David is travelling with us and watching you perform."

i gasp "really?" i ask

"yup" David says

i smile

"okay remember Kayla this is a easy week for you, it's one dance this should be perfect you've been winning winning winning i expect nothing less this week okay?" Abby says

i nod

"alright you're good"

"thank you." i say

|Competition Day|

we arrive at the competition and we head to the dressing room

"i cannot believe we are in youngstown Ohio and there's not apple sauce." Abby says

we all cheer

"woah woah Mackenzie what you doing this is hard cement i need you to get a shoe on, this is the end of two weeks like the doctor originally said" Abby says

we start getting ready for the solos and i'm really nervous i just feel extra nervous this week

Kaylas solo costume and hair clip is at the back of bun:

Maddie and Chloe go over their solo and they are really good

i go over my solo

"make it sharper and tighter Kayla." David says

"where are Asia and Nia?" Abby asks and then they walk in

we all head backstage for the solos and i'm really nervous

"our next entry is entry 27 Chloe performing to about mother." the announcer says

Chloe enters and starts her solo and it's really good

"i'm really nervous" i say

"don't worry you'll be okay" Maddie says

i nod and Chloe exits the stage

"ladies and gentlemen our next entry is number 30 they'll never change"

Maddie enters and i start going over my solo

i feel a lot of pressure because David's here and Abby is expecting me to win and i don't want to let her down at all so i need to be perfect.

Maddie finishes her solo and i get ready to enter 

"alright please welcome our next entry number 31 please welcome Kayla performing Grown."

i enter for my solo and my music starts

i make sure to nail all my turns and make it tight and sharp

i do a leap and my next turn sequence and i land it but i freeze.. i don't know what to do next

i look at the judges then to my mom who's motioning for me to keep going then to David and Abby 

i can hear my heartbeat

it's so loud

everything is in slow motion

i don't know the next move.. is it a leap? a kick? a turn? a pose? i don't know i don't know i don't know!

i then feel tears on my cheeks and i run off and the whole world comes crashing back to me

"Kayla breathe Kayla you need to breathe." Maddie says

"no! no! i need to go back! i can't believe i just done that i need to go again i need do it again!" i say and i cry

Abbys going to kill me

I was doing so good..i lost it all

"Kayla breathe now you need to breathe." Maddie says again and i think Chloe rushes to get water

everyone's going to think i'm a failure

"i can't! i need to go again! Abby's going to be so mad i've never done this i haven't messed up before she's going to be so mad!" i say choking on my words

i'm a failure

Chloe comes back and they guide me from outside the backstage to the hallway

we then see mom and David coming up the hall

i cry harder

"no i need to go again i have to go again! i'm going to be in so much trouble i've never done this before!" i cry

"honey she is not going to be mad at you" mom says

"she is i know she is i need to go again please can i go again?" i say

"Kayla listen to me you need to breathe in and out." David says

my eyes widen when i hear his voice

"i'm sorry i'm sorry i don't know what happened i'm sorry!" i cry harder

"hey hey it's okay, things happen but you need to breathe in.. Chloe hand me the water please." David says

Chloe hands him the water

he rubs my back and directs me to breathe i calm down a bit and he hands me the water

"careful." he says as i take a drink

i sniff and i start to cry they bring me back to the dressing room and i sit on Chloes lap

"everyone on this team has forgotten their number." Maddie says

but i'm the perfect one, that wasn't perfect it was far from perfect.

"Abby's going to be mad at me still it doesn't matter what you all did she expected me to win and i let her down" i cry

"Kayla who cares what Abby thinks.. she'll get over it she loves you every kid has forgotten a dance." David says and i cry

she won't love me after this.

the moms then come into the dressing room and Holly looks mad

Christi comes over and gives me a quick hug

i'm so scared of what Abby is going to think

Abby comes in and i tense immediately

"Kayla honey what happened out there? you started and you just froze." Abby says and sits down

i stare at her for a moment

i don't know..i truly don't know

"i don't know im sorry im really sorry." i say as i start to cry

Abby motions for me to come over

i get off Chloes lap and Abby hugs me

"everyone blanks, it's not your fault" Abby whispers to me

i nod and i continue to cry

"why don't you and Maddie go to the bathroom and get cleaned up and calmed down sicne you aren't in the group and then come down to the audience? okay?" Abby says

i sniff and nod and Maddie takes me to the bathroom

me and Maddie sit in the bathrooms for a while while i calm down

"i'm gonna get it next week." i say

"and that's next weeks problem."Maddie says

we leave the bathroom and Maddie runs to go backstage with the girls and mom stays behind to help me get in my tracksuit and jacket we then sit in the audience.

the group enters and we clap for them

i still feel bad over my solo but i'm alot more calmer than earlier

the group is doing really well and Chloe is getting her opportunity to be in the centre of the routine!
the finish the group and exit the stage

"alright our energy junior solo division." the announcer says

"in third place is titanium"

"there's one point separating first and second."

"in second place Chloe performing to About Mother"

i clap for Chloe and she gets her award

"and our top overall energy junior solo is Maddie, They'll never change."

i clap for Maddie and get gets her award

they bow and sit back down

"well done" i whisper

"thank you." Maddie whispers

"we have our top overall duet/trio" the announcer says

"in third place on my runway"

"in second place follow the leader."

"and our top overall energy petite duet/trio move you too"

we clap for Nia and Asia

"our power petite small group our top award goes to entry number 33 run away baby's"

"our energy power junior small group top overall winner goes to hear no evil."

we clap for the group and Maddie high-fives me

we head back to the dressing room and Abby congratulates the girls

"in the clothes you have on now i'd like you to run the last text because we are doing it next week i wanna see if i wanna make any changes" Abby says

i take off my pink ugg boots

and we run over the last text

after we go over the routine i get my boots back on and get our stuff together

this was the worst week of my life.
