Is He Really Okay?

It was a cold and crisp fall night as he flew through the air. He relished the way the chill felt as it penetrated through the feathers in his wings. He swooped down and landed on a street lamp, with the gritty rust of the metal, crunching under the claws of his green, bird feet. He looked out on the lonely street, watching the lights of his favorite pizza place turn off. It was a little past 10 and the store had closed a while ago. He perched for a while until boredom caused his wings to take flight. He flapped into the air and flew over Jump City until her reached the beach on the island where titan's tower stood. He transformed back into the character we know as Beast Boy and sat  alone on the cold sand.

He looked out at the water for a long time. He saw the sun starting to lighten the night sky with a light pink which caused him to transform into a bird and fly up to his open window. He transformed back and landed on the floor next to an old pizza box. Walking towards his bed, he let out a fatigued yawn as he crawled under his covers, pretending to sleep.

Meanwhile, Raven had just woken up. She glanced over at her alarm clock, glowing silently, in her dark room. It was only 5:20. She didn't need to wake up for another 40 minutes but for some reason she felt uneasy. She laid back down, attempting to fall back asleep. Her mind started to drift. She began to relax and her thoughts stopped making sense as dreams started to barge their way into her mind. Suddenly her alarm went off, which made her groan with annoyance. She got out of bed and pulled on her dark indigo cloak. Her eyelids felt puffy so she pulled the hood up to cover her face. She slowly floated down the hall and into the kitchen to start her tea. She placed the tea kettle on the stove as a familiar presence hustled behind her. Robin she thought to herself as she heard the refrigerator open. "Good Morning Raven!" She heard her leader mumble before she heard the crisp crunch of his teeth biting into his apple as he walked away. Robin was too preoccupied in his own thoughts to notice that Raven didn't respond. She filled a small, porcelain, tea cup with peppermint tea and left for her room.

Once inside, she let her thoughts ponder the agenda for the day. They didn't have anything scheduled for the team so she walked over to her bookshelf. She couldn't shake an uneasy feeling that was creeping up inside her so she grabbed a few leather bound books for later and placed them on her floor next to her tea cup. She opened the window to let the cool morning air inside to refresh her mind. She looked out at the glistening sea below as she crossed her legs into the air and began to meditate. "Azarath Metrion Zinthos" she mumbled as she closed her eyes, letting her emotions float away with the breeze.

In another room, Beast Boy was laying, wide awake, staring up at the wooden beams holding his bunkbed mattress above his head. He couldn't shake this sad pit in his stomach that was weighing him down lately. He was sure no one had noticed what was going on with him because he was trying his hardest to keep it to himself. It had been almost a year since he had discovered Terra was alive and in the school. She had told him that the girl she was is just a memory. The rest of the titans had been there for him, tried to help him through it, but he was never the same. The lightness in his personality was gone. He managed to fake it after a while and the rest of the titans had accepted this adjustment, but it didn't stop Beast Boy from feeling empty at the end of the day. He was fine when he was around his friends but things got heavy when he was alone. When he was alone, he didn't have anyone to distract himself from his feelings. His thoughts would take over and berate his sanity. The loneliness struck him the worst in his sleep with dreams about Terra in the school. He'd dream about her with Slade and her telling him to leave her alone at school. He'd gotten to a point where he'd avoid sleep all together and nod off for a quick nap to avoid his dreams. Shaking his thoughts from his head, he sat up and rubbed the sleepiness from his face. He came out of his room to grab some breakfast.

He turned the corner and heard the giggle of his friend, Starfire, as Cyborg hummed along to a song at the stove. Cyborg was making waffles as a hungry Starfire hovered in anticipation. "Greetings, friend! You are here for the making of the waffles?" Starfire quizzed Beast Boy as he yawned. He sat down at a chair with an empty plate and gave Starfire a tired grin. He zoned out watching the spatula in Cyborg's hand flip some eggs. Cyborg watched his exhausted, green, friend zone out at the table. He knew this wasn't normal Beast Boy fatigue. He looked at the dark circles forming under his eyes and made a mental note of it. He continued to hum as Robin and Ravin entered the room for breakfast. Cyborg served up plates for everyone, making sure that he placed the tofu bacon on Beast Boy's plate. It was a small gesture to cook tofu bacon but it was something Cyborg made sure he did since Terra resurfaced a year ago. To Cyborg, Beast Boy seemed to be fine since the whole Terra thing. He was sad for about a month after but he appeared to have moved on. The only thing is that Cyborg would occasionally catch Beast Boy zoning out, looking like he was deep in thought. Cyborg sat down next to Beast Boy who was eating silently.

"Hey man, you look tired. Are you good?" Cyborg whispered to Beast boy who looked up with surprise and a mouth full of waffles. He nodded silently. No one else at the table looked over but Cyborg knew that Robin picked up his question with his investigative hearing. Cyborg glanced over at Robin who's face was towards Starfire as she told him a story. As if he could feel Cyborg's glance, Robin gently  tapped Cyborg's foot under the table twice to let him know he heard Cyborg. Just then, the alarm rang through the tower and Robin jumped up to go check the screen.

"Titans, Cinderblock is robbing a bank downtown!" Robin started as he watched everyone spring up from their seats. He glanced at Beast Boy who was waiting to hear their instructions and noticed how dark the circles under his emerald eyes had gotten. "Beast Boy, you stay back and get some sleep, Titans Go!" Robin called out as everyone's eyes shifted to an annoyed Beast Boy before they left from the tower. Beast Boy grumbled as he went back to his room to stare at the ceiling.
