Garfield Logan

*Knock*knock*

Raven and Starfire sat up to see Cyborg standing in the doorway.

"How are you feeling?"  Cyborg asked hesitantly. There was something warm about his brotherly personality that Raven always appreciated.

"I'm ready." She spoke with conviction before getting up and walking to the medical wing.

Raven took a deep breath and stepped into the recovery room alone. She looked down at Beast Boy's unnaturally relaxed face as the beeps droned on in the back ground. She levitated next to his bed and sat, legs crossed, next to his chest.

"Azarath Metrion Zinthos" She chanted as her hands started to glow a pale blue. She closed her eyes as her mind worked her way through his body. She healed a bulk of the wounds in his chest but there was something evading her powers that should couldn't quite grasp. There was something off about his body. Some foreign substance that was corroding his health in some mysterious way but she couldn't grasp it with her mind. She switched gears and decided to connect with his mind. Maybe she could figure out what he was thinking?

She opened her eyes but her vision was a little swimmy. She could make out that she was in a dark hallway. She heard a rustling behind a closed door. She grabbed the tarnished brass doorknob but it was locked. She heard a familiar voice groan in pain. "Beast Boy" she mumbled to herself as she pulled on the doorknob. "Beast Boy! Let me in. It's Raven!" She shouted through the dingy chipped door.

"No!" He shouted immediately panicking. "You can't come in here!" He shouted with his voice sounding hollow.

"Let me help you!" she growled with irritation. She knew she could only keep this up for so long before her powers wore her down so she needed to be fast. She heard the sound of a dog whine in pain which made her slam her shoulder into the door. She heard a crack of the wood under her pressure but the door didn't budge. "Let me in Beast Boy!" she shouted, a little more frantically.

"I can't..." He sounded a little more withdrawn this time. "I'm not the Beast Boy you know..." He whispered. She slammed her weight into the door again and she busted through the broken door to come face to face with Beast Boy's Beast. He snarled in Raven's face but she stood unfazed. She heard Beast Boy's voice from inside the Beast's chest get frantic. "Get out Rae!" H shouted right before the beast lunged forward but Raven grabbed his head by the thick, furry, ears and slammed her forehead into the beast's. She instantly saw inside of the beast was a small, blonde boy with pale blue eyes. "Raven! How did you...?" The voice was a young sounding Beast Boy but the sight bewildered Raven.

"Who are you?" Raven asked, not believing her eyes.

"Garfield Logan, or Beast Boy before the experiment"  Young Garfield spoke. She sat down on the cold cement floor next to Garfield and removed her hood. The boy smiled at the purple haired woman before him. "You're beautiful." He said in awe as his small face stared open mouthed at Raven, making her blush. "Beast Boy's gunna kill me for saying that..." the little boy giggled.

"Garfield, can you tell me what's hurting you?" Raven said gently, recognizing that this was an aspect of Beast Boy's mind. Young Garfield, like the different versions of Raven in her head, represented the parts of Beast Boy that he carries around in his personality from before his transformation.

"Well, it's a funny thing Rae, nothing is hurting me... because I'm hurting me." The little boy's blue eyes began to sparkle with tears. He leaped forward into Raven's lap and gripped her tight for a protective hug. Confused, she stroked the blonde waves on his head until he stopped crying to whisper, "I can't help it... It's in my DNA now...No one can stop it..."

Alarmed Raven was jolted out of Beast Boy's mind and flew into the wall of the medical wing with a thud. Cyborg, hearing the commotion, ran inside to see Raven holding her head as she lay against the opposite wall from Beast Boy. There was a dent in the drywall above Raven's head from her impact as blinked a couple of times to push the shock away.

"What just happened?" She whispered to herself as she glanced back up at Beast Boy, who lay unconscious and unfazed. She reached back and felt a small trickle of blood on the back of her head from hitting the wall. Cyborg helped Raven up, completely confused by whatever had just happened.
