Sleep

That night Raven willingly let Beastboy into her room. He was uneasy until Raven performed a sleeping spell on him. He laid quietly as she looked over his face. He didn't have the soft, humorous, Beast Boy face she used to know. Even in his sleep, his face had been hardened with discomfort and severity. She gently laid next to him, wrapping her arms around his body with his head on her chest. She zoned out on the large cape headboard overtop their heads as her mind stayed on Beast Boy. She felt like she was losing him in more ways than one. It had been a while since she had been able to be around him, so she missed his presence but being there now, he no longer felt like himself. He didn't even smell familiar, his cool, earthy, musk was gone and replaced by the sterile medical wing soap. His soul was darker in aura and Raven was starting to worry if this pain was becoming permanent. She lied awake there, with her mind on his thoughts for the rest of the night.

Starfire watching Robin as he slept off his pain medication. Cyborg reattached breathing tubes to Robin's face since Robin struggled to breath after Raven and Beast Boy left. Robin's broken ribs would keep him in bed for a long time so, between Robin and Beast Boy, meeting in the hospital was becoming the new normal for everyone. Cyborg was sitting on the other side of Robin with Bumblebee asleep in the chair next to him. Cyborg was reading over Robin's medical charts and corroborating his findings with the X-rays. Starfire just sat silently, watching the tubes breath for Robin, still getting used to seeing him without a mask.

"I'd never seen his face before..." Cyborg mumbled without raising his eyes from the charts, "Have you?"

"Yes...Once." Starfire paused to look up and caught Cyborg's surprised eyes. "The other night I fell asleep in his room searching for Slade. Robin fell asleep as well. In the morning he was, without the mask." Starfire spoke softly.

"Star, that's huge! He willingly showed you his face!" Cyborg exclaimed. "He had to get blown up for me to see his pasty mug!" Cyborg smirked as he went back to reading the charts. Starfire smiled softly, thinking about what Cyborg had just said. "He really in deep Star..." Cyborg muttered with a smile, looking down at the charts.

"What does that mean?" Starfire questioned with a puzzled face.

"He loves you, Star. Bird Boy's not good at saying it, but it's definitely there." Cyborg said as he got up from the chair, setting the charts on the bedside table. He scooped up Bumblebee into his metal arms and turned to leave. "Night Star, get some sleep!" he mumbled as he left for his room.

Star floated over to the edge of Robin's hospital bed and gently snuggled in next to him, being careful. She made sure she didn't disturb Robin but she quickly fell asleep from the fatigue of the day.
