Big Life Decision

Robin woke up from a chilly breeze to see that both Starfire and he had slept through the night on the cement rooftop. He instantly knew this was a bad idea from how stiff his back was but regretted nothing when he saw how peacefully Starfire slept in his arms. The sun was starting to rise which painted the sky a soft orange. Starfire jostled and woke up to see the Sunrise go from orange to yellow. Both had slept surprisingly well, considering the hard surface they slept on. Robin smile at Starfire, taking in the sight of her puffy eyes and tousled hair. He found this part of her adorable and relished getting to see her wake up this morning.

"When do you have to train today?" Robin asked since he was not on the schedule with the team. They had suggested he not watch training incase he got restless and rushed his recovery.

"10" Starfire whispered with a groggy voice.

"Okay, I'll make you some breakfast?" He suggested and her stomach growled as if answering the question. They both laughed at the coincidence. Starfire helped Robin to his feet, feeling the repercussions of the previous day scolding his sore body. They stepped down the stairs slowly as Starfire kept one hand on his back incase he fell. They both made their way to the kitchen.

Bee woke up to an empty bed, which was surprising to say the least. Looking around, she didn't see him up and about. She looked in his workshop but it was empty. She threw on her black silk robe and slippers and paced out to the kitchen with her bonnet still covering her hair.

She was surprised to see Robin up and cooking Starfire food but no Cyborg. She went back to their room and paged him directly. She was mildly upset that she didn't know where he was because Cyborg was the kind to over communicate.

Cyborg woke up on Raven's floor to his communicator going off. He looked around and saw Raven alseep against her bookshelf, hugging a couple of books.

"Shit!" He whispered as he pushed a few books out of the way and opened his communicator.

"Hey Bee! I'm so sorry! I fell asleep working on a project with Raven last night." He whispered as he turned the communicator to show her bedroom floor covered in books with Raven drooling into a shelf on her book case.

"It's all good, Sparky! I just got scared that something happened. What's the project?" She quizzed, with her temper calming instantly.

"Uhm—it's a surprise? But I'm really excited to tell you about it once I know more!" Cyborg whispered as he got up from the floor. Bee accepted that response and hung up to get ready. Cyborg gently laid Raven in her bed to get a couple extra hours of sleep before leaving her room. Feeling guilty, he walked back to their room to see Bee getting ready for the day. She was fixing her second pigtail as he stepped in. "I'm sorry! I meant to come in last night..." Cyborg started but Bee was already mentally onto her to do list for the day.

"It's fine!" She snapped shortly. "Just make it up to me later, Sparky!" She flew up to his face and gave him a quick peck on the cheek before leaving the room. Cyborg was mad at himself. He knew she was pissed and that everything was in-fact, not fine.

After breakfast, Starfire went to go get ready and go to training while Robin went back to his room. He tried to play Beastboy's video games but was quickly getting bored. The rest of the team was off training outside so he decided to do something he knew he'd be scolded for and went to the weight room.

Throughout training, Bee noticed Cyborg seemed off. He was distant, as if his mind was on another planet. When his turn to complete the course came, he saved the cardboard child but was railed by a flying drone. Cyborg laid on his back to catch his breath as Beastboy ran over to help him up.

"Hey dude, are you good?" Beastboy held out his hand and helped Cyborg up.

"Yeah, just tired..." Cyborg lied as he got a look from Raven who knew exactly what was weighing heavy in his brain. Cyborg stalked off since he was the last one who needed the course and the team stood, confused by what had happened in the first place.

Robin turned on the treadmill and started the belt at a slow pace. He kept both of his hands glued to the arm rails and gingerly took each step. He increased the speed as he got more comfortable so he was moving at a brisk walk. He chuckled to himself out of pure joy as he continued to walk with minor aches and pains. He kept walking until he slowly let go of the rails and maintained his balance. He continued his walk for over an hour.

Cyborg went to his work shop and locked the door behind him. He laid down on the charging table, plugged himself in and let the thoughts race around his head about saving the cardboard child.

Raven and Bee went looking for Cyborg. Raven had filled Bee in on the spell they were researching last night and why it was so important to Cyborg that he could be human for a day. Feeling incredibly guilty, they went to the door of his workshop and Bee knocked gently.

"Sparky? Will you unlock the door?" Bee whispered softly as she heard him get down from his charging table. Raven stood next to Bee as Cyborg opened the door. "She told me about the spell..." Bee whispered gently. He stood in-front of the two women, silently.

"It's a hard conversation to have, Cyborg, but if you want to do this, then it needs to happen." Explained Raven. She pulled out the book and laid it on their bed. "I've done some research and there aren't any noted side effects, other than the reversal process is painful. Usually with magic like this, there's a catch, but it seems like the only catch here is the phantom pain from losing body parts again. You'll feel how you felt when you first woke up as Cyborg for about a day." Raven explained professionally.

"If we do this, will we be able to do what Cyborg's thinking?" Bee asked cautiously.

"Of course, I found a war veteran who stumbled across the spell for the same reason and it worked for them." Raven spoke candidly, "The only question now is when?"

"Well Bee, it's pretty calm in the City now and we are here living together for a long time." Cyborg started nervously, "Do we want to start a family?" Cyborg asked a question he thought he'd never have the privilege to ask.
