37: Anything for you

The next day

Max's point of view.

I knock on the door.

'Maeve? You awake?', I ask.

The door opens.

Her blonde hair into a messy bun, hair flying everywhere.

Her eyes still half closed.

She's so beautiful that I almost don't notice her wearing my shirt.

'Morning, do you have coffee?', she asks.

I laugh and show her the mug I have in my hands.

'Max Verstappen, you are the champion of the world', she giggles while taking the mug.

She walks towards the bed and takes a seat.

'I won't bite, come sit next to me', she points to the spot next to her.

I walk over to her and sit down.

'You're wearing my shirt', I say.

'Yeah, that dress is like a thousand dollars, I'm not sleeping in it. Besides, I couldn't breathe in it', she laughs.

I laugh too. 'You can borrow some more clothes, so you don't have to go home, you know? Free practice is in like two hours, you can shower here'.

She nods. 'Thank you, I really appreciate that. You wouldn't have any sweatpants for a woman size medium would you?', she asks laughing.

'I will see what I can do', I smile.

'Oh Max', she walks towards my nightstand and bents down.

The shirt is not nearly long enough to cover whatever she wants to... cover.

Suddenly the room is very... hot.

'Here, I found this under the pillow, I'm, sorry I couldn't sleep with it so I put it away', she gives me a photo frame.

It's a photo of me, my mom, my dad and Victoria. I always keep it under my pillow, so that I can remind myself not to give up, to race for them.

'It's fine, I always put it away too'.

'There are towels in the shower and there is also some shampoo for women, Vic left it here'.

'Thanks', Maeve says.

I walk out of the room.

God, I can't think straight when she's laying in my bed.

What the hell happened?

I pull out my phone and call my housekeeper.

'Natasha? Hello, can you buy me some sweatpants for women, size medium?'.

Sienna's point of view.

My cap is on, my sunglasses are big enough to cover my whole face.

I'm undercover.

I walk towards the bank.

'I want to withdraw', I tell the woman behind the desk.

'Name?'

'Jolene Smith', I whisper.

'How much?', she types something on her computer.

'Five thousand', I cough.

She looks up at me and then behind me.

'Reason?'

This happens every time, they think I'm being followed or threatened or something.

'Insurance', I smile.

She starts typing aggressively.

'There you go'

The machine in front of me starts beeping.

I grab an envelope out of my purse and put the money in it.

'Have a nice day', I tell the woman.

I walk out of the bank, the money being safely tugged away in my purse.

'Miss?', my assistant has noticed me and is walking next to me.

'No Jane, I will do it myself this time'.

'Miss, I highly disapprove, It is not safe enough'.

I wave her off.

'Miss please', she tugs at my jacket.

I sigh loudly and continue walking.

'Sienna, I am telling you, don't.' Jane whispers.

I stop walking.

'Just give her my regards, make sure she feels safe, ask if she needs more... okay?', I sigh.

'Sienna, we always do. It wasn't your fault, stop feeling responsible'.

I give her the envelope and I walk to my car.

'Miss, I mean it', she whisper-screams.

'It will always be my fault, it is my fault that it happened, it is my fault that she had to work that day. Don't tell me I am not responsible for the accident, I will be till the day that I die. I can't sleep at night knowing that, so do not ever tell me it wasn't my fault', I whisper.

I walk off.

'There you are', Luci is sitting on the stands, she's sipping on her lemon water.

'How's he doing?', I ask while sitting down.

'Our best friend is doing pretty good, she is comfortable', Luci says. 'The he you're referring to is doing okay'.

'Sorry, Lando is just so insecure lately, he had a breakdown because of his finish position the other day', I grab my bag of chips.

'That sucks, he is a great driver', she grabs a handful of chips.

'Did I give you permission to touch my chips?', I ask her.

She looks at me with a gross expression.

'I touched your boobs, I think I'm allowed to touch your chips'.

'Not what I meant', I laugh.

'Charles is so fast, it's like they upgraded the whole car'.

I nod, she's right, he is extremely fast.

'Maybe Monaco motivates him', I say.

'Or maybe something else', Luci mutters.

'What?'

'Nothing, I'll tell you tonight, Maeve has to be there', she smiles.

'Mysterious', I smile.

She laughs.

We watch the rest of free practice.

Maeve's point of view.

'Let me help you', Max sticks out his hand and I grab it.

I climb out of the car.

'Thank you, such a gentlemen', I smile.

'Only for you', he smiles.

I see Horner looking at us, his expression is shocked.

'You done staring yet, Christian?', I ask.

'Never in a million years would I expected this to happen', he walks towards us.

'You are friends', he smiles.

'On a good day, yes. But on race days, we are still each other enemy', Max looks at me and winks.

'I couldn't agree more Max'.

'You both did an amazing job today, I have one question though', Horner grabs something out of his bag.

'Maeve we got this in the mail, what does it mean?', he hands me a paper.

The paper has red letters all over it, repeating the word CONFIDENTIAL.

'I think I might know who we got this from...'

'An NDA?', I walk towards the alpine garage, Max behind me.

'Miss Vettel, keep your voice down please', Esteban smiles.

'You're an asshole! Fuck you, you cunt!', I yell.

'Maeve, what is the problem?', Pierre walks towards me.

'He gave me an NDA', I tell Pierre.

'Because you will ruin my reputation, now sign because if not, I will lie to the press', Esteban walks towards me.

'I wouldn't do that if I were you', Max jumps in front of me.

'Why would you care about her wellbeing? You hate her', Ocon laughs.

'I like her more than I like you'

'She's just a pathetic little bitch, you don't even know how to drive, guess you aren't really your father's dau-'

Max's fist meets Esteban's face.

'Max! What the fuck dude', Pierre crouches next to Ocon.

'Don't you ever disrespect her like that again, Maeve sign the NDA, but make sure to write that he won't tell anyone that it was me who punched him', Max shakes his fist up and down.

'I won't sign it', Esteban yells.

'But you will', I sign the NDA and give it to Max.

'Otherwise, I may go for your balls next', Max smiles.

Max gives Esteban the NDA and a pen and he signs.

'Pleasure doing business with you', I smile to Pierre, and Max and I both walk away.

'Does your fist hurt?', I ask him.

'Nah, just a little bit'

'Max, thank you for this morning. You told me Esteban was a dick and yet I still ran into his arms', I sigh.

'Don't be ridiculous, we hated each other back then, I was just disappointed with myself', he looks at the ground.

'I really appreciate you buying me an outfit this morning, please let me pay you back', I open my wallet.

'Maeve, it's my treat, really'.

'Max, are you sure?', I ask.

'I wouldn't have said it if I wasn't', he smiles.

'Thank you'

'Anything for you', he winks.
