The cold waves meet Mason's skin. It's been too long since her last visit to the beach. She felt at peace, ironic given the fact that she hated the feeling of sand against her skin. She'd find the mess almost distressing after every visit back when she was a little girl. That was the last time she found herself at the beach. Until today.

She breathes in the salty air and she shuts her eyes closed as she listens to the sound of the waves crashing. She feels as if she'd been transported to another world; where it's serene.

The doctor had given her great news earlier that morning. "You'll only need to undergo treatment for a few more months." It left her hopeful. Mason felt a weight lift off her shoulders. It had been too long since the last time she felt free of any pain or worry.

The news was just what she needed; it was one step closer to completing her journey of healing. All she really needs now is the closure she's been so desperately seeking; her heart lies in a faraway land. Perhaps it is a sign that calls for an intervention. Maybe then, she'd be free.

She turns around slowly. Mara sits underneath a white parasol in the near distance. She wears her hair down in loose waves that perfectly frames her face, emphasising her doe like eyes and soft lips. The golden glow of the sun only adds to her mesmerising beauty. A smile finds its way across her thin lips as Mason draws near. "How are you feeling, angel?"

Mason smiles softly. "I feel like the world can't do me no harm." She chuckled softly. "I used to hate it here. But it's just so magical this time."

Mara holds out a hand. "I was surprised when you offered to take me to the beach." She laughed. The eldest guides the latter to the empty space beside her. "I thought you were possessed for a good minute or two."

Her remark left Mason in a fit of laughter. It sounded like music to her ears. "Hey, I'm not possessed." Mason sits comfortably and rests her head against her best friend's shoulder. "Even if I was possessed you wouldn't know."

Mara chuckles faintly. "I'm happy today." Her smile only grows. "I think I can be happier." The good news had also lifted her spirits.

They stare at the horizon. It's absolutely breathtaking; Mara could say the same about the girl that sits by her side. "Me too."

Mason links her arm around Mara's. "I never thought that this could all be over soon." She looks down at the light coloured patches that appear across her body. Her condition had affected her much greater than she previously thought. Though with time and treatments, she had slowly shown signs of improvement.

She could barely move most days. Mason could barely lift a glass of water to drink or pick up a fork to eat. Mara came to her aid almost immediately, and for that, she is eternally grateful to have someone like her in her life; although turbulent at times, Mara would have it no other way. That's just how much she cared for Mason. That alone would never change.

Mara rests her left hand on Mason's knee. "Babi, can I be honest with you?" Her voice was a lot weaker than usual. She seemed nervous.

"Mm?" Mason shifts her gaze. "What about?"

The latter swallowed the lump that formed in the back of her throat. "Life has been hectic lately." She chuckled. "And it kinda got me thinking about how unexpected things can be at times. It can be thrilling or scary and..." Her voice fades for a brief moment. "It made me realise that sometimes we have to intervene."

Mason looked at Mara with wide eyes. "I was just thinking that." She chuckled. "When I was out by the shore. I thought about it too..."

She pondered to herself for a brief moment. She wasn't sure about the type of intervention that Mara had thought about. Mason grew curious.

Mara smiles softly. "I guess we really are connected. But hear me out, okay? Even if..."
She turns her body around just enough to reach into her tote bag. "I'm so nervous."

Mason smiles encouragingly and gives her a peck on the cheek. "For the nerves." Mara turns a faint shade of pink as she takes an envelope into her hands. "Is that a letter?" Mason asked.

The latter shook her head. "Not exactly." She chuckled. "Do you wanna take a guess?"

Mason's brows creased. "I'm not sure." She shrugged. "You didn't get kicked out did you?"

"No! Oh my God. No, I didn't get kicked out." Mara laughed. "That would be extreme."

Her best friend sighed with relief, "Phew. You had me nervous too. Seriously, what is it?" Her curiosity had gotten the best of her. She tried to look at the envelope at an angle, hoping to see its contents under the light. She couldn't see.

Mara hands her the envelope without question. "Take it." Mason tilts her head before taking the envelope between her fingers. "Tell me what's inside." Mara ushered. "Tell me what you think afterwards." She chuckled nervously.

Mason tears open the envelope with haste. She was unsure about what its contents could be. Her heart crashed against the corridors that kept it from harms way. "Babi, what is this?" She takes out two plane tickets and holds them between her fingers in utter shock.

"Babi, they're plane tickets." Mara giggled.

"I-I know t-that." Mason stuttered. "Are these for us?" Her breath shaky. Her eyes were fixated on the girl beside her. "Mara."

The latter cupped her face gently. "I talked to Aunt Clarissa and Uncle Matteo about this. If you're worried about what they have to say, don't worry too much about it. I sorted it out."

Mason's honey like eyes are wet with tears. "Babi, where are we going?" She couldn't process it fully; no matter how hard she tried.

"Where your heart truly lies, Babi."
