Who were here first?

The giants.

I read about them once in a book — the giants that once roamed this planet. And so, I wondered how such enormous entities could disappear without a trace. Well, now I know they didn't. What else could explain the majestic landscapes scattered all around the planet? All the mountains, valleys, hills, and islands around us. These are the giants that have succumbed to slumber after eons of existence. These are the fallen bodies of those who were once rulers of this earth.

These giants were far from human. You see, no one ever said giants were made of flesh, bone, and blood. No, the giants were made of earth, stone, and water — the elements that gave life to this planet. We humans have walked around this planet and saw ourselves as gods. A grave mistake, because compared to them, we are nothing but pests that have ravaged their home. They are an ancient and colossal power, an unstoppable force that could easily overthrow us from our false throne.

I am writing this to you now because no one else ever believed me. The tremors are getting stronger and the groans are getting louder than ever. Our ephemeral reign is nearing its bitter end. Humanity can do nothing, but watch, as we realize that giants need rest too, and now they're waking up.
