The Beginning + Confusing Feelings

It's 10pm and holy mother of fishes this popped into my brain—

It's really short.

_________

/TIMELINE: MIDDLE SCHOOL

Katsuki knew he didn't have any friends. He knew that was embarrassing to some people, but it wasn't to him.

If you asked Deku, he'd blabber on some crap about 'childhood friends'. The truth was that their moms had been friends, and therefore, Katsuki didn't have a choice about the whole thing. Maybe he enjoyed their brief friendship, but after he got his quirk.. Deku got a bit stalkerish. So Katsuki pushed him away, and treated him like how society would.

But Katsuki knew, deep down, that he didn't have a single genuine friend. Anymore, at least.

The dumb extras who hung around him were only there for a few reasons.

1, to look/be cool

2, protection

3, they hated Deku

4, test answers

Looking back as this reasons made Katsuki's stomach twist. It felt so pathetic

Nobody liked him as him. And that was the sad truth. All he could do was accept it, and move on.

It might sound sad, but that's fine. Katsuki was used to this; the dull ache of wanting a friendship, anger, and.. and pride. He was proud of his status in school, and around the neighbourhood. People knew him. Not many really knew his name, but they called him 'the kid who'd blow your face off'. Not catchy, but it was something.

But his status didn't stop brats from challenging him. Obviously, the other extras would lose. But all of Katsuki's stupid 'followers' would always just run off, before shamefully returning with empty apologies. He'd rub it off with a grumble and spark.

He couldn't afford to look weak in front of them. At least they respected Katsuki, and acknowledged he could kick their ass anytime he wanted to. It was the least they could do, Katsuki supposed.

And then Kariage showed up.

He was new to their school, and had automatically taken a dislike to Deku. Katsuki didn't know why, and didn't ask why. Obviously, he'd he drawn to Katsuki, though. Katsuki himself wasn't surprised when Kariage approached him; people wanted to join his little group all the time. He could've said no to him, but something made him say yes.

When Kariage began to join in with them, it was.. it was different.

Rather than constantly praising him, Kariage teased and challenged him. Instead of acting like Katsuki was a sort of God, Kariage treated him as a normal, human being — something people forgot he actually was.

Their relationship from the start was rocky. Sometimes they'd step over the boundaries, and sometimes they'd just be too much of a dick. Both of them, not just Katsuki.

At the start, Katsuki brushed Kariage off. But Kariage was determined to become his friend — soon-to-be boyfriend. It was a shock at first, to think someone wanted to be friends. The thought still made Katsuki smile.

Kariage liked Katsuki for being Katsuki.

It was embarrassing, but that thought warmed up his heart.

After a while, Katsuki and Kariage were just used to each other. They knew what the other was thinking and feeling. Even Katsuki knew how Kariage felt, and he wasn't exactly emotionally smart. He'd never admit that though.

Yeah, some fucking morons in his little group left and avoided him after learning about his relationship, but he couldn't care less.

He just needed Kariage, and Kariage just needed him.
