Katsuki was very aware of Kariage's struggles and he wasn't doing much to help. Except he was, in his way. Throughout the years, Katsuki has taken notice of Kariage and what he responds best to. So he noticed that Kariage was an extreme people-pleaser and had no regard for himself.

Kariage reminded him of fucking Deku sometimes, with the lack of self-regard. But Deku is a little shit and Kariage was not a little shit. Scratch that. Kariage was a little shit on occasion. Hell, everyone was. Everyone except Katsuki.

Moving on. Katsuki was surprisingly slow and gentle in this aspect of Kariage. It took the little things, like ensuring Kariage took the last teabag or cup, spent money on himself, and ensured he took time to get rest, studied, and was happy. Although it sounds selfish when he says it like that, it's a lot better when you consider Kariage's problem.

Which leads to his other problem. AKA, Insomnia. While Katsuki has not ever experienced sleeping problems, thanks to his fucking incredible sleep schedule, Kariage was not so lucky. Should it be anyone else, like Pikachu, he would've blamed them wholly. (Served him right after playing video games all night, almost every day) But Kariage was a completely different story.

Kariage has insomnia. In case your dumb little pea brain doesn't know what insomnia is, fucking Google it. The internet was created for a reason, dickwad. Katsuki does not need to waste his precious time explaining.

A plane hummed above, suddenly and irritatingly disrupting the peace in their bedroom. Their bedroom meant his and Kariage's. Obviously.

It was — Katsuki glanced at the old clock hanging on the wall, the shallow moonlight giving off more "moon" than "light". After studying the dastardly clock, he deduced the time with a grim expression plastered on his face — around 2:34, in the morning. He didn't get a single minute of sleep and to be frank, he felt like a fucking bull ran him over. Saints, is this how Kari felt? A troubled look fell over his ruby eyes as he ran a few thoughts over in his head.

Kariage's, albeit taller and broader, body was spooning Katsuki, occasionally nuzzling his neck with his nose. The air was cool and it was...nice. It's impossible to phrase it into a simple sentence, it's like seeing the stars after a long day or getting a gust of cool wind into your face in summer.

Neither of the two was asleep. Kariage due to his insomnia, and Katsuki due to their fucking dumbass neighbors who were throwing a party. A loud party with really loud music. It's a miracle nobody called the cops on them. A miracle for them and a curse for him.

(He wouldn't say it, but in actuality, he was too embarrassed to call the cops on a party. Being a party pooper was his thing, but shutting down an entire party? Come on. Katsuki may be an asshole, but he's not that bad.)

"Hey." Katsuki purposefully ignored the voice.

"Hellooo?"

"Katsuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu--kkkiiiiiiiii."

"I can't sleep."

"I cannot sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep."

"Kaaat...I can't slee-"

Katsuki violently flipped his entire body over and flopped back on the bed with a small thump. With his piercing red eyes gleaming in the dark, he glared at Kariage. "What the fuck do you want?" He half snapped, half whispered.

A hand snaked up and cupped his cheek, fingers grazing Katsuki with such a gentleness he didn't fucking deserve. "You look beautiful right now."

Katsuki snorted and scoffed at Kariage, "I hate it when you say shit like that. Asshole." Nonetheless, he was still leaning into the hand. "We both know you just can't sleep and need me to keep you not bored."

Chuckling, Kariage smiled warmly "Damn right."

He frowned. This was the tenth time this happened this week. Katsuki was trying to be patient but everyone has a breaking point. Everything else was easy to be patient with - ignoring a few exceptions - but this was a big no-no.

"Kariage, you better get your ass up and get dressed, we're going to the doc." He huffed, grim. It was about time he did this. God forbid, he was going to fucking drag Kariage to the local doctor if he didn't get up in time.

"AAA- I get it, yeesh!" Kariage dramatically lurched out of bed, falling flat on his back with a wince.

Unimpressed, Katsuki turned to look down at the sad sight below him. A teeny, tiny snicker shuffled past his lips, "Karma." Ignoring the puppy eyes and pout Kariage angled at him, he continued to throw his clothes off and change into something more suitable for the cold weather outside.

"If you aren't going to do anything but complain, I'll fucking do it for you," Katsuki said, eyeing Kariage.

As he secured a scarf along his neck, Katsuki glanced at Kariage. Thankfully, the other was already ready. But there was a certain look on his face. The anxious twitching of his fingers. The lip gnawing...

Was he scared? No, no, not scared. Kari was not one to get scared off like this. Perhaps he was just nervous. It would be understandable.

Katsuki shook his head. It's better to not overthink this...Whatever this is.

~~~~~~~~
He lost track of time.
That's a fact and not like Katsuki at all. He should be observant and aware, not like this. Fucking hell, he'd made a fool of himself. That was unacceptable and embarrassing.
At least nobody noticed. That's a good thing.
They were at the local clinic, the one that was open 24/7 as if it was a fast food place. Albeit weird and sketchy, but Katsuki was desperate. Kari needed help because his insomnia was fucking him up. Memories of seeing Kariage faint after not sleeping for 3 days in a row, the dark circles under his eyes, and the tiredness that lurked inside. It hurt Kariage and it hurt Katsuki. Seeing the one he loved in pain, every day was hard. But that was finally, finally going to change.
The clinic was silent and empty, the only muted sounds were coming from the reception desks. There were two young women there, clacking away on their keyboards. The lobby was small but clean and had a sharp smell. Katsuki glanced at Kariage who was staring pointedly at the floor.
"Look up, idiot." He smacked Kariage's arm "At least try to not look like you'd rather die than be here."
"Fine, fine~" Kariage pouted, whining like a dog. He turned his gaze up and directly into Katsuki's eyes. Red reflected gray and gray reflected red. The air around them felt soft and fluffy, luring them into a sense of security. Katsuki reached out and twirled his pinky against Kariage's pinky, and they linked—
"Are you here for an appointment?" One of the young ladies called out awkwardly, "Because if you aren't, you uhm, you can't make out or anything here. It's unhygienic.."
Katsuki snapped his eyes at her and scowled. "We aren't fucking making out! Do you want to die-"
"What he means to say, is that we're not making out and here for an appointment. But we haven't booked one, so could you help with that, please?" Kariage smiled, throwing on his signature customer service smile, the one where he showed off his sparkling white teeth. If Katsuki was honest, it was cute.
Rather than copy Kariage's role modeling, he opted to scowl and glare at the lady like a rabid dog. Call Katsuki petty and you won't have an eye anymore. Fucking stupid little girl-
Kariage nudged him and gave him a side-eye, "Kats. Go sit down, I'll handle this. Also, criminal offensive side-eye."
"Shut the fuck up, you tiktok-watching dickhead." But he still went on to sit on a nearby seat. It was surprisingly comfortable. He turned to watch Kariage and the lady converse, setting up an appointment for today. Kariage's fingers were still twitching and flicking out and he could tell that he was uneasy.
After a few minutes, the two nodded at each other and Kariage waved before returning to sit by Katsuki, "Our appointment is in 15 minutes! I can't believe they got someone on such short notice, wow. I guess they couldn't just make an appointment for us in a week or two... haha..aha."
Katsuki stared blankly at him, unimpressed, "Really? Fucking idiot, this is better for you. And me. I don't wanna deal with your shit at 2 AM and you need to start sleeping."
"I guess I do...I just don't though at the same time!"
"Just get it over with, Kari. You'll be fine. They're just gonna ask some questions and give you some meds."
"Yeah, but what if they don't do anything and just ignore me and tell me it's nothing like everyone else—"
Scowling, Katsuki grabbed Kariage's shoulders and whipped him around so they were face to face. As their eyes met, Katsuki took it as an opportunity to speak. "They are going to take you seriously. Okay, Kari? And if they don't, I'm going to fucking throw them into traffic."
Kariage gazed at him with a soft and tender look. He smiled, "Okay, Kat."
He huffed and fell backward into the cushioned chair, "Good."
They sat in a cozy silence, passing little looks now and then. Somehow, Kariage's hand linked with Katsuki's.
Time was passing slowly.
He glared at the clock. There were only two minutes left. Two minutes before Kariage would finally get the help he needed. Just two minutes. He squeezed the hand he was holding and it squeezed back.
One minute...
A man came up to the reception desk. Was he the doctor? He was early then. There was nobody else in the room, probably due to the ungodly hour they were up at, so he was there for them. He wore a doctor's coat and had short, black hair paired with purple eyes. Weirdly bright eyes. The man had little wrinkles in his eyes and didn't seem like a serial killing doctor...Katsuki could probably trust him.
"Kariage ____? Please come with me." He spoke with authority and kindness at the same time.
Kariage took a deep breath and let go of his hand. Standing up, he took a few unsteady steps before finding his gait. He turned back to look at Katsuki and Katsuki gave a small smile. Then, Kariage disappeared with the man.
Now he had to wait again. Why couldn't he just fucking go with Kariage! Screw this place. Katsuki glanced at the clock again, impatient.
How long was the appointment supposed to be again? God, the waiting time would always be the worst part of it all. Whatever. This wasn't going to best Katsuki. No fucking way. He was the best, the No.1! But he was still human...that's such a shitty excuse, Katsuki scoffed at himself. And yet he continued to stare blankly as the clock ticked on, like a fucking mindless machine.
(But it was a mindless machine, simply serving out its purpose)
He stared.
The hands of the clock moved in staccato, it was abrupt and old. Every time the hands moved, a soft ticking sound echoed throughout the room. Tick, took, it mocked him, tick tock.
After what felt like years, Katsuki read the time. Irritation flashed across his face. It had only been three fucking minutes.
And then Katsuki blinked once, twice, and before he could blink again, the time had changed. Now, it had been twenty minutes and he heard a door close somewhere. Did he just zone out like some freak?
"Kat.." a voice pulled him out of his thoughts. Katsuki turned his head and saw Kariage standing there, holding a small bottle. But he didn't care about that, what he cared about was the beautiful smile that was gracing Kariage's lips.
He did it. They did it. Kariage would finally be able to rest peacefully.
