Chapter 3

Media vs. Politician

Chapter 3

“Are you ready, baby?”

“Ateeee, stop calling me that!” I said. Totally getting disgusted.

“I'm just proud of you, Bunso. You really grew up so tough and intelligent—”

“But you're the one who's toughest the most between us, ate.” I said as I cut her off.

We discussed also about something before I went to school. I need to be hurried because if I weren't , I will face the real hell.

It's so hard to commute here in Manila. Traffic is everywhere.

I am going now to our building. Hoping not to see Gilj—

“Benj!!!!” and speaking of..

I slowly turned to face her. I feel so much embarrassed.

“Good Morning!!” she greeted while smiling. “So your building is near here to our building too, huh. What a nice fate.”

“I see.” I said, still embarrassed.

“I beat you. So I have a right for that 10 dares, haha.” she laughingly said.

“Ahh, that one.” I said and began to walk.

“Don't you ever try to escape”

“okay.”

....

After having a conversation with Giljean I decided to went to our room.

I couldn't describe the ambience of our room in one word. I could sense the confidence, fear, nervous and authority here.

They're really giving me that frightened feeling, huh.

I wander my eyes in the whole room. I saw that almost of the students here are wearing an eye glasses. Maybe—like me, they also a bookworm type of person.

“Oops, sorry dre!” I turned my gaze to a guy that bumped at me.

“No. I'm the one who need to say sorry.” I said, apologetically.

“Kuen Lastimoso.” he said then offered his right hand.

“Benj Zedrick Haldane” as I introduced myself while taking his hand.

“The Professor is now arriving.” He said, obviously terrified.

We are still in the midst of talking when suddenly, the doors burst open. It reveal a guy wearing a Blue polo. I guess he's already in a midst of 30's. He's also wearing a thick glasses which got my attention.

“Good Morning!” he greeted. I can feel the authority of him.

“I heard he's really good at teaching but terrifying at the same time.” Kuen said with a very low tone.

I nodded and give all my attention to the professor.

“I am Mr. Albert Teng , your major course teacher.” he said as he introduced himself.

We're in the midst of discussion when the professor decided to call anyone for a random question.

I used to be in this kind of feeling before, but still, I can't stop my self to be nervous.

The professor started to shuffle his flashcards with our names. Lord, please not me. Not this time.

“Mr. Haldane”

My heart went Oops! When he called my surname and he abruptly turned his gaze into my direction. Shit!

“What do you think is the main reason, why politician are brave to corrupt? ” my mood change so quickly. I hate hearing any topic about politics. Especially being asked what is my opinion about them.

“Hey, Mr. Haldane? Are you going to stand there the whole day?” the professor said.

“Politicians are brave to corrupt because.... because they know that only few people have a care about politics. Most of people are only focused in their own benefits. Some are aware about what happening but keep to be blinded and keep being silent. Then at the end, they will blame the government for it's ain't enough services but they never tried anything just at least to stop those evil politician.

I think that's the main reason why they are brave to abuse their position because they know that people can easily fooled. Through their showing a good services or good deeds in media they can easily get the sympathy of everyone.”  said I.

“You mentioned that politicians can easily fooled through showing good deeds in media. In what way that the media and a politician are being alike?” he said while his stick beating his palm.

“They were being alike by fooling people in an innocent way.”

“Enlighten that, Mr. Haldane”

“ Some reporters are editing the real happenings to become an interested topic. The more the interested the topic is, the more the viewers. They are publishing some false story, without thinking that trough their words—they can ruin someone's life.”

“While politicians are deceiving people through showing their good deeds. They are good at playing cards, and tricking is their talent.”

“Media and Politicians can make people suffer. And if there is the most liars kind of people in the world, they could be it. That is how the media's and politicians are being alike—alike from being fraudulent in an innocent way.”

The ambience of the room were turned into silence. Everyone is now listening.

“If that the case, why did you chose to take this writing industry? ” the professor asked.

“Because I believe that people are still deserved to know the truth. If I became a journalist, I will reveal the unsaid facts to them.” I confidently said.
