Chapter 42

Barry had brought Y/N to the station with him, he just felt unsure about leaving her at home...alone, or even at the lab where she'd most likely be bored the entire time. He gently sat her down in his chair, putting another one across from her for her leg, and grabbing her his sweatshirt and a blanket. "You're sure that you'll be okay here?" Barry asked as he checked Y/N over once more, much like he always did.

Y/N chuckled, "Yes, I'll be fine, now you go to your big fancy meeting and be great," Y/N said putting her hands on both sides of his face. Barry didn't want to leave her alone, he'd feel terrible if he did, especially just for some silly meeting.

"Are you sure-"

Y/N cut him off by connecting her lips with his, "I'll be fine, now stop worrying and go," Y/N said against his lips.

Barry smiled, "I'll be back in a flash," Barry joked as he made his way out.

"You always make that joke, and it's still not funny," Y/N yelled after him.

A few minutes after Barry had left Cisco walked into Barry's lab and sat next to Y/N, he seemed stressed about something, "Cisco my eyes are closed and I can tell that worrying," Y/N said.

"Oh, sorry, I didn't know if you were awake or not," Cisco apologized. "I need to talk to you."

Y/N sat up and opened her eyes, squinting at first from the bright sunlight streaming in through the windows of Barry's lab, "What do you need to talk about, is it another one of your dreams?" she questioned.

Cisco shook his head, looking at the ground for a moment before speaking again, "Eliza, what device did she have, what could she have possibly done that could send you flying into a brick wall with that kind of impact speed?" Cisco asked, a grim look on his face, his eyes lingering over the brace on Y/N's leg, as well as her other injuries.

"She had this glove thing, she said that she got the idea from a hero that emerged in the Flash's absence...you. It mimicked your gloves that you use when you vibe," Y/N explained. "I have no idea how she made the glove so fast, or even how she made it"

"She couldn't have, Vibe took over as this city's hero for two days, there is no possible way that she could have replicated one of my gloves without metahuman powers in that amount of time," Cisco explained, seeming slightly angry at the thought.

"But we know someone who could of, and quite possibly did," Y/N said subtly mentioning Thawne.

"You honestly think that he did this?" Cisco questioned.

"Thawne hates Barry, he always has, he went back in time to kill his mother for God's sake. And by hurting me, or killing me, that gets to Barry, that hurts Barry, that breaks Barry," Y/N answered. "He might not have directly hurt me, but he gave Eliza the means to do so, he saw potential in her."

Cisco let out a sigh, "Where is the glove that Eliza had? If I could get a look at it, maybe I could trace it somehow, figure out how Thawne might have made the glove."

Y/N shrugged, "It's most likely in the evidence lockup downstairs unless someone moved it."

Cisco gave Y/N a look, a look that meant he wanted her to go get the gloves, "I can't tell if you're constipated or if you want me to do something," Y/N said.

Cisco sighed before continuing, "This is me asking you to get me the glove, lucky for you, you just happen to be married to a certain speedster that is in this building, a speedster who knows exactly where that glove is kept," Cisco said in his best persuasive voice.

"You are aware that Barry is in a very important meeting with Singh, and the Mayor right now," Y/N said shooting down Cisco's idea, causing a sad look to emerge on his face. "However, I will talk to him when he gets back," Y/N smiled, causing Cisco's mood to lighten almost immediately.

"Thank you," he said getting up and hugging Y/N.

"Yeah, yeah whatever," Y/N chuckled, "Ow," she squeaked as Cisco hugged her a little tighter, he quickly pulled back. "Still have three broken ribs," she stated.

"Sorry."

"I'm fine, now go wait at S.T.A.R. Labs, I'll make sure that Barry brings you that glove," Y/N explained.

"Thank you," Cisco said as he made his exit.

Within minutes Y/N had managed to doze off, the comfort of wearing Barry's sweatshirt and having his blanket were enough to lull her into a deep sleep in no time. She woke a little while later to the sound of footsteps coming closer.

"How'd your meeting go?" Y/N asked groggily as Barry approached her.

He smiled as he leaned over her and kissed her, "Very, very well," he answered, flashing her a goofy smile.

"Yeah?" Y/N questioned.

Barry nodded, "You are looking at the new head of the CSI division for Central City Police Department," he flaunted.

"Really?"

"Yep, all this CSI's in Central City, all the precincts, they all report to me," Barry laughed.

"Barr," Y/N said holding his face in her hands, "This is huge for you," she smiled before kissing him, this time a little longer, only breaking apart when the need for air became too much for her to handle.

Barry stood there for a moment, just staring into Y/N's eyes, her beautiful, sparkling eyes, he didn't know what to say, or what to do, she had always been the one person that could take his breath away. Y/N noticed, but she liked it, she liked knowing how he felt about her, she knew that Barry was always going to be there for her when she needed him most, his love for her never faltered, even when he thought it did...it didn't, he was always going to be Barry Allen, the goofy, cheesy, forensic scientist that Y/N had fallen in love with so long ago.

"And to think, I would've skipped this meeting if it hadn't been for you," Barry said.

"See, I told you, I'm always right," Y/N joked. "So what happens now?"

"Now, I am going to take you home and we are going to celebrate..."
