Chapter 14

Y/N burst through the doors, she could see Kara and the others far off in the distance, but they were on their way. Y/N cautiously entered further into the building, she saw what appeared to be some sort of transdimensional portal back to Earth-X, but it was closed for now so she didn't think much of it.

She turned around instantly when she heard footsteps near her, she turned only to see Thawne, in his suit, looking happier than ever...better than ever.

"No," Y/N said barely audible, her head shaking. She knew what Thawne was so happy about.

"Oh don't worry, I promise it wasn't painless," he snickered.

Y/N didn't hesitate to punch him square in the jaw, her anger causing her to be flustered.

"Where is he!" Y/N cried as he rolled to his feet.

"You know he went on and on about how much he loved you if it's any consolation," Thawne smirked.

"Y/N?" Cisco said through the comms. "We picked up Barry's suit signature there, did you find him?" he asked.

"I'm about to," she said with her teeth clenched as she continued to fight Thawne. That when the others arrived.

Oliver swiftly got a solid punch almost immediately. "Y/N, go! Find Barry, we got this," Oliver said while he distracted Thawne.

Y/N nodded and then left and continued to move throughout the warehouse until she stumbled upon what seemed like a medical lab, a quite sophisticated one. She opened one of the doors and then she saw him, strapped to a table, his face pale, he looked weak, he looked dead...

Y/N immediately ran to Barry, tears flowing down her cheeks as she undid his restraints.

"Barry?" she asked holding his face in her hands. She could see a tube going into his arm, presumably what Thawne used to take his blood.

"Y/N?" he said barely audible,  the sight of his eyes struggling to open crushed her heart.

"Barry," she sobbed.

Barry smiled weakly at the sound of her voice, "I love you...Y/N...I'll always love you."

"No, Barry. Don't talk like that, you're gonna be fine," Y/N said gazing into his eyes. "Barry, I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry, this is all my fault," she cried.

"I forgive you," he said looking into her eyes. "For everything."

"I love you," she said with tears falling.

"I'll never stop loving you Y/N, promise me something," he said coughing, "Keep running...for me," he said with a smile on his face before he went limp in Y/N's arms.

"Barry! No," Y/N sobbed.

"Y/N," Oliver said over comms, "We got Thawne, we sent him through the portal back to Earth-X, the portal's down...we did it."

Oliver then ran into the room "Barry," he said in shock as he ran and helped Y/N get Barry to his feet and speed him back to S.T.A.R. Labs.

Caitlin and Julian thought they were prepared for Barry to come home, and then they saw the damage that Thawne had done.

As they laid him on the medical bed, Caitlin and Julian had already begun their work.

"This can't be happening," Y/N quietly cried to herself.

Joe saw her staring silently at what was happening right before her eyes. "Y/N," he said pulling her into his arms.

She tried to speak, but the words never came out. Instead, she buried her face in Joe's chest.

"Y/N," Caitlin said while she worked. "He's lost a lot of blood, and a broken leg isn't helping, I don't know about this."

"He would need a blood match, and a speedsters blood to keep up with his metabolic rates, that might be able to help with the blood loss," Julian said.

"Me," Y/N said looking to both of them. "I'm 0 negative, so is he. I'm a speedster, so is he...take my blood," Y/N said putting her arm out.

Julian gave Caitlin a subtle nod before moving to Y/N and prepping her.

--The Next Day--

All the heroes had left...except for Oliver and Felicity. They wanted to stick around to see Barry when he woke up, they peered into the room next to his and saw Y/N asleep, most likely from exhaustion, as well as from fighting and giving so much blood to Barry, she lay in a medical bed, fast asleep.

Barry lay in the room next to her, he had made little improvement.

"How is he?" Oliver asked as Caitlin left the room and entered the Cortex.

"Alive, but barely. I'm keeping him alive though, for her," she said motioning over to Y/N. "But, with time he should make a full recovery, and so will she."

"She loves him," Felicity said.

"Yeah," Caitlin agreed. "Enough to donate almost three times the typical limit to keep him alive."

"That's what we do for love," Joe said as he came into the Cortex with Wally. Joe and Wally had been in and out all day, and they had just come to check before heading home for the night.

The day after at night Y/N woke up alone, in the medical room covered with a blanket. Her eyelids stung when she opened them. She stood and winced slightly as the pain she felt from being so sore from fighting, and the loss of blood. Y/N attempted to look around, but the room was too dark, she grabbed the blanket and wrapped it around her shoulders and began walking towards the dimly lit door.

"Caitlin? Cisco?" Y/N called out as she slowly made her way into the Cortex. She could hear feet shuffling across the floor. When she rounded the corner she saw who it was walking around and her hands flew to her mouth.

"Don't tell Caitlin I unhooked myself from the machines, I was thirsty," Barry said weakly as he looked over at her. Tears threatened to spill as she made her way over to him.

"Are you okay?" he asked as he tried to limp towards her, but she quickly jogged over to him before he could try to walk anymore.

"You shouldn't be walking," she said as she wrapped her arm around his waist and helped him back over to his bed.

"But I'm thirsty," he said pointing over to the mini fridge in the treadmill room.

"You're also loaded with some speedster strength pain meds right now," Y/N chuckled sadly as she helped Barry sit back on the bed.

He groaned in pain as he sat down, "You're crying," he said noticing her tear-stained cheeks. He reached up to wipe her tears. Y/N shook her head and wiped them away with her sleeve.

"I should go get you a water," she sniffled as she quickly got up, but not before Barry could grab her arm.

"No, come here," he said pulling her into his lap, his arms wrapping snugly around her. "Why are you crying?" he asked softly as she tucked her head into his chest.

"I almost lost you, hell...I did lose you," Y/N said sadly before she looked up to face him, his eyes now watering as well. "You flatlined three times while I was giving my blood to you...three times Barry," Y/N cried. He quickly pulled Y/N back into his chest and hugged her tightly.

"I'm sorry," he cried.

"I'm sorry for fighting with you," Y/N sobbed into Barry's chest.

"I'm sorry for ignoring you, and getting upset with you when all you wanted to do was help me," Barry whispered into her hair.

"I could never have lived with myself if you had actually died, and we had actually left things the way we did," she replied.

"I know, but no other world, or reality, could ever stop me from loving you," Barry said pulling away to look Y/N in the eyes, his forehead leaning gently against hers, "I love you Y/N."

"And I love you, Barry," Y/N said back.

Y/N woke the next morning to someone running their fingers through her hair. She lifted her head and began rubbing her eyes.

"Good morning," Barry said running his hand across her cheek.

She couldn't help but smile at the sound of Barry's voice.

"Morning," she murmured. "Is everyone else here?" she asked.

Barry nodded, "Caitlin and Julian came in early to make sure that I was okay, which I am by the way," he said reassuring her while he smiled brightly down at her. "I'm healing fast...thanks to you."

"Good, but I didn't do anything," she said as she sat up.

"Caitlin told me what you did, they said you gave me almost three times the typical limit....you could have seriously hurt yourself Y/N," Barry said.

"That didn't matter in the moment though, I was so scared," Y/N said taking his hands in her own. "I didn't want to lose you."

"I don't plan on leaving you just yet," he smiled, but she could hear a slight bit of sorrow in his voice.

"You better not," she chuckled.

"I'm so sorry for scaring you," he sighed. His thumbs gently tracing circles against her hands.

"I'm sure I've scared you a time or two, so I'll consider us even," she said.

Barry couldn't resist laughing a little at her comment, "Y/N nothing has ever scared me more than being with you," he said sadly. "I'm so scared that being with you is going to put you in danger. And the thought of losing you scares me to death, the idea that something might happen to you, and I won't be fast enough to help," he replied.

"Barry, I am the Flash, and so are you. I can handle myself, especially when I have you by my side. You are the best part of me...and I don't think I could ever lose you. I've been through loss, I know how it hurts when they're gone-"

"And it doesn't matter if it's slow or fast," Barry interrupted.

"Whether it's a long drawn-out disease or an unexpected accident," Y/N added.

"When they're gone, the world turns upside down," replied.

"And you're left holding on, trying to not fall off," Y/N finished.

"Exactly, I love you Y/N Allen," Barry said leaning his forehead against hers.

"And how do you know that?" she asked.

"Because when I look at you I see everything I could ever need."
