Chapter 22

"Take it easy," Barry said guiding Y/N towards the couch, his hands supporting her arm and her waist.

"I'm not completely helpless you know," Y/N chuckled as she sat down, quickly relaxing.

"Well," Barry interjected. "Excuse me for caring about you," Barry joked as he grabbed a blanket and draped it over her before sitting next to her and turning on the news.

"You know I'm joking," Y/N smiled, snuggling her head into the crook of Barry's neck, his arm wrapping around her shoulder as if out of instinct.

He placed a gentle kiss on her forehead, "I know," he said pulling her a little closer.

"Hey, it's you," Y/N said letting out a yawn and pointing up at the screen, the calming sound of Barry's heart soothing her.

"Yeah, and if you keep watching you'll see me get my ass kicked by a steel plated sociopath in about 5 seconds," Barry joked.

--Later--

Y/N and Barry were both asleep on the couch, each of them snuggling into the other's warmth when Barry heard someone at the door. He slowly got up, careful not to wake Y/N, he slowly slipped out of her grip and headed over to the door. He opened it to see Cisco on the other side.

"Hey," Barry said rubbing his eyes, meanwhile Cisco let himself in. "Yeah, sure, please come in," Barry said sarcastically.

"Please, I don't need your sarcasm right now," Cisco explained. "I think I found a way to get to Thawne," he said as he noticed Y/N laying on the couch. Her body now cuddled under the blanket's warmth now that Barry's was absent.

"She is so adorable, even when she sleeps," Cisco said observing her.

"Gee, thanks, I try," Y/N said rolling over, she had awoken the minute Cisco arrived.

"No, you succeed," Barry smiled leaning down to kiss her quickly.

"Yeah, yeah, you two are cute and whatever. Just keep it PG for me," Cisco said.

Y/N quickly shot him a questioning look, "Oh whatever Cisco. If I'm not mistaken you said that you found a way to stop Thawne?" Y/N asked.

"I didn't, but I think Gideon did," Cisco said sitting down.

"How?" Barry asked sitting next to Y/N, her head leaned against his shoulder as she yawned.

"Earth 5...."

"What?" Y/N asked immediately seeming more alert.

"Apparently our Thawne worked with his doppelganger on Earth 5 in the past," Cisco explained.

"How far into the past?" Barry asked.

"According to Gideon, all the way back to when Y/N was 14 years old...before her parents died," Cisco said.

"That's a long way to run, through time and the multiverse, Cisco," Y/N said.

"No," Barry disagreed, shaking his head. "What if you run the both of us there, and I run us back," Barry suggested.

"That might work," Y/N said turning to face him. "When do we go?"

"Gideon has an algorithm running that will find the perfect window for you two, but your time there will be limited, and you won't have long. However, we won't know when that window opens until it has," Cisco explained.

"So now we wait," Y/N said leaning her head back against Barry's shoulder.

"No," Cisco interjected. "We wait, and you two get some rest, you both look exhausted...no offense," he shrugged.

"None taken," Barry smirked.

"Well, I better get back to the lab," Cisco said getting up and letting himself out.

"Cisco, wait," Y/N called after him. "We're gonna need something else too."

"Really? And what's that? Because I don't really know about you guys, but I'm not all that interested in helping you two run to the past and possibly get yourselves killed," Cisco ranted.

"We need you to build a time machine..."

"Go on," Cisco said sounding intrigued.

"A time machine of sorts," Barry corrected. "Y/N and I have been trying to find a way to track Thawne, we think that you can do that, but this device that you make would have to work in the past...so almost like a time machine," Barry explained.

"Fine...you had me at time machine," Cisco said leaving.

Y/N yawned as she snuggled more into Barry's warmth, her head now laying in his lap. Barry smiled at the sight, his finger running through her hair, his fingers gently brushing past her cheek.

"Someone's tired," Barry chuckled.

"Not tired," she smiled.

"So you're not tired? Or have you just realized that your husband also doubles as a pillow?" Barry joked.

Y/N laughed, "The comfiest pillow," she said rolling over and looking up to Barry's eyes.

He smiled down at her, "Can we just stay like this forever," Barry said tucking a piece of her hair behind her ear.

"What do you mean," Y/N asked furrowing her brows.

"Happy, you know? No Flash business, no problems...just you and me," he explained, his fingers still running through her hair softly.

Y/N smiled at the thought, "I agree," she said, her palm cupping his cheek gently.

"Is something up? You seem a little off," Barry said.

"Yeah, it's just this whole Earth 5 thing that's happening. Just brings back old memories," Y/N said with a sigh.

Barry could see the tears forming in her eyes, he lifted her up and cradled her in closer to his chest, gently squeezing her. "Do you want to talk about it?" he asked.

"I don't know," she sniffled. "I just keep remembering my parents, and then I remember Thawne...he ruined my life, Barr. I can barely stand the thought of him, more or less actually see him in person," Y/N explained, practically sobbing at this point.

"Shh," Barry cooed, hugging her tight, gently rocking her back and forth, "Shh."

"Barry," Y/N interrupted, pulling back just enough to be face to face with him. "How am I going to do this?" she asked, gazing into his eyes.

"You are going to do this, and I'm going to do it with you...we are going to do this, together," he said cupping her face in his hands, his forehead leaning against hers.

Barry quickly wiped her tears away, "Together," Y/N nodded.

"Hey," Barry said pulling her away from her thoughts. "I love you," he said kissing her.

"I love you too," she said against his lips, a smile slowly finding itself on her face.

"Come here," Barry said picking her up and quickly carrying her upstairs.

"Barry," she squealed. "What are you doing?"

"You've been stuck in the lab, I've been stuck at work, and I can't remember the last time we had a night in, just you and me," he said.

"I think you're forgetting Netflix," she added as Barry laid her down on the bed.

"Oh, how could I forget. My social life consists of running at superspeeds and Netflix," Barry laughed as he leaned down and kissed her.
