Chapter 39

Barry woke to the sound of an alert on his phone, he looked at it and realized that he didn't have to worry about it. Cisco was taking care of Central City while he and Y/N were supposed to be resting and recovering, Barry smiled as he silenced his phone and wrapped his arms back around Y/N, nuzzling his nose into her hair.

"This is nice," she murmured. "Being able to ignore the alerts and just relax, sleep in."

"I know," Barry replied, "We never get to do this."

Y/N looked up at Barry, "What are you doing today?"

He shrugged, "Preferably, I am going to stay here with you, like this, all day," Barry finished before kissing Y/N softly. "However, Caitlin still wants us to go down to S.T.A.R. Labs a little later today."

"Later? That means that I still have you to myself for a while," Y/N said kissing Barry again, taking her time, her hand on his jaw.

Barry hummed at the feeling, "Oh, and there's one other thing," Barry added.

Y/N furrowed her brows, "And what would 'one other thing' be exactly?" she asked as she looked up at Barry.

"Well, every four years Singh and the station hold this police gala thing, big flashy lights, fancy dresses, and lot's of dancing," Barry explained. "And it just so happens to be tonight."

"Oh really?"

"Yes," Barry said kissing her, "We could go out to dinner first, somewhere very, very romantic," he added as he kissed her again, this time a little longer.

"So, romantic dinners, dancing, it all sounds very nice," Y/N murmured against his lips.

Barry let out a soft laugh, "What can I say, I want to do something nice for my wife, something that is long overdue, you deserve the best, it's time you get it," Barry said finishing off as he embraced her lips with his own, pulling her chest flush against his own.

"Barry Allen," Y/N said pulling away, "You are aware that you also deserve the best as well, right?"

"Do you know what the best thing you could possibly give me right now is?" Barry asked. "You going out to dinner with me and going to this gala thing; that is the best possible thing you could give me right now. This is a rare time in which we don't have to be the Flash, we don't have a busy schedule, today we just get to be Barry and Y/N...nothing else."

Y/N smiled, "I'd like that," she replied.

"Yeah?" Barry asked.

"Yeah," Y/N said nodding her head. "So what are Barry and Y/N doing before their romantic dinner plans?" she asked.

"Well," Barry smirked as he rolled over, now hovering over Y/N, "For starters..."

"Can you zip me up?" Y/N asked as she walked over to Barry.

Barry simply nodded before zipping the back of her dress, Y/N smiled as she turned back around and admired Barry in his tux, she then found herself straightening his bowtie.

"Am I handsome...dashing even?" Barry joked as Y/N rested her hands on his chest.

"You are all of the above," she said kissing him on the cheek, "You should wear a tux more often, it's a very nice look on you Barry Allen."

"And you should wear fancy dresses like this more often, you look incredible," Barry said kissing Y/N, his hands resting on her waist. "Look at us, being all husband and wife like," Barry said flashing one his trademark smiles, "I do not believe that we've ever gotten to do this before," he said admiring just how beautiful Y/N looked not only tonight but every night.

"It is long overdue," Y/N replied, gently running her fingers through Barry's hair. "So, exactly how romantic is this dinner that you've planned?" Y/N asked Barry had been subtly bragging about it all day.

Barry smirked as he wrapped his arms around her, "Very romantic," he chuckled.

"Oh yeah?" Y/N countered.

Barry nodded before kissing her forehead, "But it won't be very romantic if we're late," he murmured.

"Barry, Barry Allen," Barry said as they were let into the building, "I told you, CCPD does not go easy on the galas, especially this one," he explained as he led Y/N further inside.

Y/N observed the beautiful decorations around her, the precinct that she usually knew was now gone, taken over by something much more mesmerizing. "It's beautiful," Y/N said as she leaned into Barry.

"So Allen, this is your wife whom I've heard so much about," Captain Singh said as he approached them, Y/N smiled and graciously shook his hand. "You look oddly familiar," he added.

"Nice to meet you, Captain," Y/N smiled.

"Please the honor is all mine, you did good Allen, don't screw it up," he said patting Barry on the shoulder before making his way towards someone else.

Barry continued to make his way through the crowd, bringing Y/N right along with him, he seemed happy, truly happy for the first time in a long time.

"Joe," Barry said tapping him on the shoulder, "I thought you weren't coming, you said 'these things are so cheesy and predictable' if I'm right," Barry said in his best mocking tone.

Joe laughed, "Yeah, yeah whatever, look at you two. Must be nice not having to be The Flash for a night or two," Joe said observing both Barry and Y/N.

"You have no idea," Y/N replied.

Suddenly, music began to play throughout the room, "You two better get out there," Joe said motioning over to the dance floor. "You'd be surprised Y/N, Barry happens to be a very good dancer."

"And singer from what I've experienced," Y/N said reminiscing over the times in which Barry sang in the shower, or when they were alone, his voice was beautiful. "Come on," Y/N taking his hand and practically dragging him over to the dance floor.

"You know I might step on your feet," he joked as he put his hands on Y/N's hips.

"I highly doubt that Barry Allen," Y/N said as she snaked her arms around his neck, Barry's hands gently bringing her closer to him. "If anyone's going to be stepping on feet, it's me."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Y/N yawned into Barry's shoulder as she leaned against him while they walked into their apartment.

"Somebody's tired," Barry chuckled as he helped lead Y/N upstairs.

"I'm wearing heels, you and I danced all night long, and did I mention that I'm wearing heels," Y/N replied groggily.

"To be fair you look very attractive in those heels," Barry whispered in her ear, earning a gracious smile from her.

Y/N hummed, "You're just telling me what I want to hear."

"Oh, then I'm assuming that you want to hear the truth," Barry replied as he opened the door to their bedroom. "Besides if anyone's feet should be hurting, it should be mine considering that you stepped on them all night long."

"Very funny, can you unzip me?" Y/N asked as she turned around for Barry, Barry smirked at her tiredness as he unzipped her dress. "Thank you," Y/N said stepping out of the dress and into the closet to change.

"If it's all the same to you, I think you look great just like that," Barry called after her.

He could hear Y/N laugh from the closet, "I'm sure you do think that Barry," she said stepping out; she was wearing one of his flannel shirts. Barry smiled and kissed her on the forehead before slipping off his jacket, removing his bowtie, and unbuttoning his shirt.

"If it's all the same to you, I think you look great just like that," Y/N mocked as Barry took off his shirt.

Barry chuckled as he watched her crawl under the blankets. He quickly sped into a pair of sweatpants and joined her.
