Trail

It seemed like everyone had been enjoying waking me up from my slumber a lot lately. First Mel, then the guy my mom who had me with and now someone was waking me up on a day that I didn't have to get up early. Granted that it was around eleven in the morning, but still. This time, there was a knocking on my door. I knew it wasn't my mother because she hardly ever knocked. This left two people.

"Babe, as cute you are when you sleep, I need ya up." My eyes were ajar because of the rude awakening that I was experiencing. I looked up at Thorin who was grinning from ear to ear with his hands on his sides. My middle finger grazed the air, signaling that it was not a good time and proceeded to roll over to ignore the asshole that was standing in front of me. Was it mean? A little bit but it was also mean to wake me up.

"Flora, you know what I'm capable of. Don't make me use my gift." The sound of his knuckles popping was loud, fully waking me up.

I turned my neck, trying to give him the best puppy eyed look that I could ever done. "But Thorin." As much as I hate to admit it, my lips pouted.

"It's Saturday."

Fuck.

"Did my mom let you in?" He didn't come from his normal route so my mother must have been apart of project 'wake Flora up in an unreasonable time'. It was kind of weird because it had been sometime since he acted like a normal human being instead of a spider monkey and climbed through my window.

"Of course, she loves me." Thorin said proudly.

I eyed him, taking in the dark purple shirt that he was wearing. "That color looks good on you."

"Thank you but you still have to get up." He squinted his eyes at me.

"Mother fucker." I snorted.

"I'd rather be a Flora fucker." The skin on my side was pinched by the grinning asshole. He knew that was slick on his part by the smile I was trying so hard to hide. I had a choice. I could have A, rolled over and screamed for my mother, telling her that there was a psycho in my room who was threatening to tickle me until I got up. Or I could try to fight him but again, then it would end with Thorin practically destroying the nerves on my skin. So I did neither and continued to flip him off while getting up.

Love comes in many forms.

I rolled my lips together in nervousness as the town that we lived in quickly passed me by and trees began to take place of the buildings. My thumbs and index fingers fiddled with my shirt that wanted to rest on my black leggings but I couldn't let that happen. I was nervous, not because Thorin was grinning from ear to ear though I have learned that something bad always came from the grinning idiot, but because we were basically in the woods. Yes, he did take me to a secluded area on our date (I've learned to accept it), but this was different.

Thorin had asked me to make sure to wear something comfortable, which I did. But I didn't know why, usually it seemed like Thorin didn't care to what I wore. He remained his usual attire except for the tennis shoes he sported instead of the more skater like shoes that was more of his style.

The car stopped in a large parking lot that was surrounded by more trees and a little brown building. There also a couple of park benches that were spread through out on a field of unruly grass and flowers. Brown streaks carved themselves into the earth, allowing pathways for people to go further down into the thick tree's darkness just to be 'one with the earth' as one would say.

"This is another place I like to go to." He said, smiling while getting out of the car. I did the same, slowly taking the scent of flowers and grass. The sun was burning and reminding me that I should be in bed but I bit my tongue and continued to smile at Thorin who looked genuinely happy.

"So where do you hide the bodies after you beat someone to death? This place or the one you took me on our date?" I said, squinting at Thorin turned his head up, squinting while thinking.

"Hm..." He rubbed his chin, allowing his tattooed hands to be shown. My eyes were especially on the little shamrock on his wrist. I remember looking at it when I first saw Thorin, standing there with a cigarette in his mouth. Now, he doesn't touch cigarettes and I actually like being around him. "Both."

I shook my head while continuing to take in the scenery. It was quiet except for a couple of girls who were sitting on top of one of the park's tables. They were were talking but nothing too bothersome. "Thorin, please tell me you're not going to make me walk to my death pit."

"No." He drew out the word, placing his hand on my shoulder. "Not today." Thorin proceeded to squeeze my shoulder. "We're just going to walk."

"Are you sure about the non-killing part today?" I wiggled an eyebrow, joking with him.

He sighed. "No, no, I still want to make you uncomfortable a little bit longer." Again, my middle finger went up at him. Thorin laughed while leaving my shoulder. "Hold on, I'm going to use the restroom real quick and we'll be on our way."

I didn't know what kind of hell he wanted to put me through but I nodded and walked over to another table that was also close. My ass sat down, basking in the harsh sun while the girls continued to talk. By this point, one would know that the universe hated me and had me hear what the girls talked about.

My boyfriend.

This wouldn't have been a problem if I had my headphones but noooo. I just had to be trying out this new thing where I didn't pretend that i was the only person in the world.

"He's cute." I'm an awkward person, I get it. I'm more awkward than a penguin trying to waddle its puffy body into a run. But nothing was more awkward than me trying to pretend that I couldn't hear them by looking at nothing but a tree.

"Do you think he's single?" Another one of the three girls said. I would have told them no but I couldn't by the cough that was trying to escape my throat.

"Do you really think you have a chance with him?" The third one said, laughing. "He's probably with that girl." It seemed like the third one had some sort of brain.

"I bet you ten bucks I can get his number." The second one said again. This time it was kind of funny. I kind of wanted to see how Thorin would react to them asking for his number while I sit back, not going up to him and kissing him like I did in school.

Right on cue, he comes out. He slicks his black curls back, slightly biting his lip. I tried to look away, allowing for the girl to act on her plan. Thorin was coming closer to where I was, slowly walking by the group of girls.

"Hey!" The second girl called out and this time, I finally looked at them. She was pretty, blonde, and looked like she could be in a magazine.

Thorin glanced at her, awkwardly placing his hand in the air before turning his attention back to where I was.

"Can I get your number?" She blatantly said even though he was up to me at this point.

"Ask her for it." He said, not taking his eyes off of me. I shook my head, trying not to smile at the asshole who knew he was smooth. The girls didn't say anything as they watched Thorin wrap his arm around my shoulders and proceeded to move with me. I will admit to myself that he did kind of looked cool and it was a little satisfying seeing the girls frown. Petty but still satisfying.

We walked in silence, the only thing that would break it would be the occasional twig that would roll underneath my shoe and proceed to make my shoes skid and me wobble. Thorin chuckled having to put his hands on my shoulders to make sure my ass didn't plop down on the ground and not on purpose.

Even though I was nearly tripping every ten steps, I was having fun. The dark green leaves that created a canopy that shaded the world, allowing a pleasant coolness as Thorin walked behind me. I smiled, listening to the rushing water in the stream that ran with the path. Props to Thorin for picking such a nice place without a lot of people.

Large rocks came up and Thorin walked passed me and up to the said rocks, using his long legs to step on the large stones. Climbing wasn't my forte so I kind of just stood there at the base, looking at Thorin who took a on the little rock mountain. He waved his hand, smiling while telling me to come up there. It wasn't that I didn't mind climbing, heights and I were not on the best of terms.

"Ehh... I'm just going to stay down here." I waved back, trying to act cool in this situation.

"Oh come on." He held out his hand. Little did he know that I could grasp it and yank his ass down. Thorin gave his fingers a slight wiggle, beckoning me to grab onto him. Gently, I took it and began to work my way up. The thought of falling trying to wiggle into my mind and how much it would hurt if I had fallen right there, but I kept looking up at Thorin who reassured me that I was going to be okay.

With shaking legs, I made it up. Sitting down, I tried to remain as cool as I could so Thorin wouldn't know just how much heights actually freaked me out. Even though I was still a little shaken up from the height, I did like the view.

"Not bad, right?" Thorin nudged me, smiling like an idiot.

"Not bad, Thorin." I smiled back.

His hand went to my back, lacing it with the tips of his fingers. "Are you okay though?" I knew why he was asking. This was because of the night that I was fighting with my dad and my emotions got the better of me. I didn't think that Thorin was going to say something, but I guess it was something that he couldn't ignore.

"Yeah.." I trailed off. "It was just this guy who was texting me." My head shook.

"Your dad?" I nodded. "Is he giving you trouble?"

I rolled my eyes. "He wants me to move in with him even though I've told him multiple times that I'm not going to move in with him. It's just so annoying."

"So you guys don't have a good relationship?" Thorin said softly.

My head shook again. "We don't have a relationship at all." I snorted. "I don't want to."

"Why?"

I didn't know if I should tell Thorin about my father and I. My stubbornness was trying to come up, blocking me from telling exactly what happened. It tried to chain my emotions, holding them down in the abyss that I had placed it a couple of years ago. It was my fault, creating such a way to keep my emotions deep down so I wouldn't get hurt again.

"My dad.. made my mom and I's life hell." The chains were finally loosening up and allowing the words to come out. "He wouldn't hit us or anything, he didn't want to touch us because he found my mom and I so grotesque. His exact words." I added, trying to not laugh.

"Oh."

A breeze came by, blowing a little pieces of hair on my forehead. I smiled, rubbing them back onto the top of my head. "Everyday I would hear about how gross I was and how he wished that his daughter wasn't so huge. And it's not that I could help it, yeah I should have worked out when I was younger but my diet wasn't that bad. Sometimes genetics fuck you over." My dad didn't really understand that but I couldn't waste anymore time explaining it to him.

"And he still wants you to live with him?" Thorin's brows furrowed and I was just as confused as him.

I shrugged. "I don't know why he wants me now, but that doesn't mean I want him now."

"You have every right to not want to live with him and I'll support you through your decision." My shoulders were pinched and body wiggled back and forth.

My lips rolled an attempt to hide the goofy smile that kept growing on them. "I'll support you too."

It didn't take us long to get down from the rock and back to Thorin's car. I got in, smiling and Thorin did the same. He leaned in his seat, giving me a passionate kiss. My hand went to his cheek, holding him close to me. Everything was going fine as Thorin and I were locking lips with each other and even playing with our tongues. We weren't doing anything bad, but for some reason, a guy decided to knock on Thorin's window.

Thorin grunted, leaving me and proceeded to roll his window down. A man placed his hands on his hips, looking into the car. "Do you have your pass?" His rough voice boomed through, sounding like he smoked on gravel for a living instead of pestering people.

"Yes." Thorin quickly plucked his wallet from his pocket and pulled out the little pass. "Here ya go."

"Alrighty, just make sure you ain't botherin' anyone." The old guy tipped his hat, smiling grimly at us.

"That was close." Thorin said, rolling up his window. "I didn't want to have to get in trouble on my birthday."

I paused. "Wait, it's your birthday?" He nodded. "Dummy!" I smacked his thigh. "You should have told me sooner, I would have gotten you something."

"You're my present." Thorin smiled, giving me another kiss.

My eyes squinted. "Asshole, I'm still going to get you something."

Wellllll I'm still pretty nervous about her dad and what he's cooking up but at least Thorin somewhat knows what her dad is like. Still pretty scuuuured though. Anyway, remember:
