Dance Drink

Anyone who has seen Bambi would know how when a baby deer is born, their legs do not work correctly and they walk like their legs are nothing more than tiny sticks to a potato. I was indeed, that potato when it came to me with shoes that had a heel to them. It wasn't a huge heel and easily something that the contestants on a modeling show or even drag show would laugh at but I didn't laugh. This was real shit and it freaking sucked.

Slowly, I walked down the steps that led up to the second floor of Mel and Thorin's house with my feet to the side. I didn't really see the steps but more of images of me falling down and breaking my neck in some type of horror movie or thing that was tattooed on Thorin's body. It took me a good ten minutes before getting to the bottom step.

Going the same pace as a snail, I walked away from the steps and patted the skirt that Mel forced onto my body. She smiled when she saw me playing with it, not letting go of the Satan persona that she and Stacey often sported. Subtly, I showed Mel my middle finger while patting it until I was happy with the piece of cloth that I wanted to rip off and replace with a nice pair of sweatpants. The only saving grace was that I was wearing black tights underneath it to conceal my chubby legs.

The outfit did feel a little devilish. A tight long sleeved blouse was fitted all over my torso that was sheer in some parts and thankfully fully black in the chest and stomach area. The outfit was made tighter by the belt that went around my waist cinching the maroon skirt to my body. It's not like I wasn't able to breathe but people were able to see my body and that idea right there made me feel a little uncomfortable.

Thorin, who was sitting on the couch, turned his head towards me and then back to the t.v. but nearly snapped his neck when turning it once again to make sure what he was seeing was correct. It was correct, my ass was actually somewhat dressed up for a party that he wasn't even going to attend.

"What." I barked when he continued to stare.

"N-nothing." He tried to play off his stuttering by smiling and standing up. "You look great." His hands went onto my shoulders, making it hard for me to look away so the blushing would subside.

"Thanks, man." I tried to also play it off cool like his words didn't actually mean a lot to me and I did appreciated them. My thumb went up, cutting in the small space that Thorin was creating between the two of us. He didn't seem to be bothered by this.

"Now, remember to call Daddy Thorin if anything happens, okay?" He pulled me until my face was pressed up against his chest.

Praying Mel wasn't there, I moved my hands that were once smashed up against my body to around Thorin's. My nostrils willingly took in his scent as if it was the last time I was ever going to see him. Though I tried not to be clingy, I was really going to miss Thorin while at this party.

"You know you're stupid, right?" I said with a muffled voice.

"Only for you."

"Bye Thorin." Mel said while flipping her hair. "Keep the door unlocked."

I pulled away from Thorin and began to follow his cousin though I really didn't want to. But I had to. My ass wasn't attending some party just because the thought of it being fun. There was one true meaning and that was for me to learn. My social skills were a little undeveloped so I thought this might have been a good lesson for me.

"I'll just let Flora in." He added as we walked through the door frame and into the chilly night air.

Mel instead of flipping her hair, flipped Thorin off before closing the door behind her and dangled the keys to the car that she still drove. The black car that her cousin used to drive me to school and to our meeting was currently absent but it was fine. I didn't really want a probably illegally bought car in the driveway of the house I was going to stay in for the night.

"Get ready Flora, we're going to have the time of our lives."

**********

My fingers fiddled with the hem of the skirt, swishing it around between my index and thumb until friction caused heat to be transferred onto the pads of the said fingers. At least my walking was better when walking up the pathway that traced all the way up to the host's front door. People were hanging out on her porch with red cups that most likely held liquid that they wouldn't be able to get legally until a couple years down the road.

"Mel," I whispered while walking next to the crazy woman. "I'm nervous."

She hooked her arm within mine. "Don't be."

I didn't think that Mel didn't really realize that this was my first official party. The only parties that I ever attended were either birthday parties back in grade school or the ones that I watched on t.v. Either way, they were both different from the real thing.

The air in the house was thick with the smell of sweaty kids that were in fact, grinding up to each and the smell of cigarettes and different illegal things that some of them had in between their fingers. I coughed at the foreign smell and smacked at the air just to get a fresh breath of oxygen. A small part of me hoped that none of the kids here had some type of breathing issue like asthma because I didn't bring my inhaler.

"Hey! You made it!" The girl who had invited us came up to us and placed her arms around my shoulders to hug me. Her breath was heavy with the smell of booze as she talked. "I'm sooo happy." She slurred her words.

My hands went to her arms to sort of push her off in the most polite way. Her body easily moved and wobbled more than my ankles first did when walking. "Thanks for inviting us."

She smiled like a child. "I'ma gonna goo and see other peopleeee." Her finger went up and began to wiggle in the air to point to others. I nodded while giving her a sympathetic smile. She really did seem nice but kind of stupid for drinking so much at a party.

I laughed when Mel gave me a look. "Come on." She said, taking my hand and pulled me into the group of kids who were moving to the music.

"Mel." I hissed while she kept pulling on my arm until we were in the middle of the group. Her back went to mine as she moved her hips back and forth to the beat of the music. She still held my band, forcing me to go down along with her. Even though I was years away from being considered old, my knees still cracked and sounded like someone breaking a twig while bending them.

More people came to us, invading their space. A guy came up to Melody and took her arms and placed them past his shoulders and around his neck. My ass was there to dance and move my body like some weird wet noodle that somehow was still dancing. But I wasn't alone for a while because the girl who was obviously the leader of the group of girls that I usually saw in the hallways came up to me.

The ones whose laughs sounded like angels singing and also the ones who wrote about me in the stall.

Her black hair looked silky as ever and of course, even in the somewhat dim room, her white teeth popped when she smiled to me. She was cold to the touch, sending a cool sensation to my hand when hers covered mine and began to swinging as she giggled just so I could hear angels sing once again. This girl's cheekbones were so high and drastic that I thought she was going to cut me when she bent her head forward towards me in her fit of laughter.

"Your outfit is so cute!" She said over the loud music before taking a sip of the cup in her hand. The girl saw me eye the cup and proceeded to hold it up. "Wanna sip?"

I shook my hand, still kind of dancing. "Thanks and no."

Her lips frowned while she looked disappointed. "Come on, just one sip." The cup came closer to me, allowing me to see the dark liquid to move around as the holder of the cup moved. I looked at her who was smiling and then back at the cup and thought about what was in it. "Don't worry, it's not going to bite you."

She was right, it didn't bite me but it did burn the fuck out of my throat. I did not know this when taking the red cup into my own hand and placed it on my lips. My nose slightly burned when inhaling the scent of the drink before opening my mouth and slowly taking in the liquid. A burning sensation instantly irritated my throat, forcing me into a mini coughing fit.

"What's in that?" I said loudly, pointing to the cup.

"What?" Her brown eyes looked at the ground when her head turned so her ear was free for me to speak into it.

"What was in that?" I said again, pulling on my shirt for more airflow in it.

"I can't hear you." She shook her head while pointing to her ear. "Hold on." My hand was taken again and my body was forced out of the still dancing group into a quieter area where two seats were available on a couch. I had to give her props, she knew how to get out of a huge group of people and not hit anyone. "There we go." She sighed while taking another drink.

"What was in that?" For the third time, I questioned about the drink.

"Why, did you like it?" She smirked.

Even though it burned my throat more than a thousand suns could ever accomplish, it didn't taste that bad. "Yeah."

She smiled. "I'll be back then." Her cup went back into my hand.

"Wait, what's your name?" I asked as she began to leave me with her cup.

"Delia. Go ahead and finish that for me." Fiona winked while waving her hand at the cup.

Now, I would never drink something that I didn't know what was in it, but she was also drinking out of it. Would someone really drug their own cup? No, so by that logic I thought it would be safe to go ahead and pour the rest into my mouth. The burning sensation welcomed the back of my throat again as the alcohol filled soda went down.

I watched as Mel continued to dance on her own with her eyes closed and hands in her hair. Small laughter came from me while pulling on my shirt once again at her dancing. She was a good dancer and no one had anything on her and I was also amazed. It was getting hotter, well it was for me, so I didn't know how she could dance so much in such a heat.

"You okay?" Delia returned with two new cups in her hands. I nodded, still pulling on my shirt to cool myself while taking the drink without any hesitation. The burning sensation was slightly getting better either from my throat becoming numb or maybe because my mind was starting to become a little fuzzy. Just a little bit. "I take it that you're having a good time." She said, laughing.

Here we go again with the angel laugh.

"Totally." I rolled my eyes, taking another sip. "Sorry about not knowing your name by the way." I said, taking in more of my drink. For some reason, each time I took a sip, it was tasting better and better. Also, it helped with the party and the fact that I didn't give a single fuck if someone was looking at me.

My drink was empty in a matter of seconds, making me pout my lips at the white lining that I did not want to see. "Don't worry about it. Sometimes it feels good to know that not every single person knows your name."

A large 'o' was made by my mouth at Delia's statement. "OH MY GOD." I blinked at her mostly to stop the world from making me feel like I was spinning. "Someone gets it! I fucking hate it when people know my name!" I threw my hands up and along with them, the cup that landed in between people's moving feet. "Fuck."

"I'll go get you a new one."

"Actually here." A new cup appeared in front of me. Slowly, my eyes traveled from the familiar hand and all the way up to meet with a somewhat icy stare. J Something smiled at me to reassure the cup was okay to take. Though I didn't want to take it, I did because the party was starting to be more fun by the drink.

Delia sighed while she got up. "I'm going to get some more." Her eyes went to J Something and didn't leave his until she flipped her blunt cut from her shoulder and sassed away. I giggled at just how over dramatic she was between that Western like standoff.

J Something took her seat next to me while I slowly began to take more sips.

"Hey, Flora." I blinked at him while trying to remember his name. For some reason, I always forgot his name. For a brief time period, I remembered it but now the name for some reason has just flown out of my spinning mind.

I smiled. "Hey...."

"Jace." He nodded his head.

My fingers snapped and formed into a gun that pointed at him. "Ah, that's right. Sup' man." My eyebrows wiggled that forced me into a tiny fit of laughter.

"I just wanted to say that I'm sorry." He said while looking so sad. I didn't want him to look so sad but because no one should ever be sad and should only be happy all of the time!

I placed a hand on his shoulder though I didn't do the whole touchy touchy thing. "Oh my god, Jacey. Don't be sad, you look like a sad little puppy and those are so sad and I don't want to be sad because being sad sucks and you don't want to suck." I croaked, feeling the tears already forming in my eyes. Of course, the tears were washed down with another swig of my drink.

Jace laughed. "Thank you, Flora."

The index finger on the hand that was on his shoulder went up to signal to give me a moment as I was taking another drink before we could continue our conversation. "No problem, Jace."

"I never thought you would be the party type." Jace said, eyeing the way I was drinking.

I shrugged, flipping another cup onto the ground. "Neither did I."

Jace chuckled while handing me his cup. "Here."

My mouth opened up widely in surprise. "Are you sure?" He nodded. "YOU'RE SO SWEET!" I said, taking the cup and downing what was in the rest of it. "Seriously, I don't even know why I hate you."

"I don't know why either." He chuckled again. "But I take it that you don't now?"

"Nah, man. I'm too tired for that shit." I rested my head on the cushion of the very comfortable, sleep worthy couch.

His brows furrowed. "Are you tired?" A small smile was on my lips when I nodded. I watched as he placed his hand on the top of my thigh while his face looked quite concerned for my well being. "You want to sleep?"

"Yeaah." I slurred my words, my hand went to the side table to find another cup that thankfully had a drink in it.

Jace pouted his lips. "Aw, come here." His arm went around my shoulders, pulling me closer to him. It didn't feel quite right with him not being Thorin and all. "Let's go find you a nice bed, okay?"

Oh my. I was honestly kind of surprised by all the hate/ worry about the girl who invited Flora and Mel. I had read the comments and responded while thinking 'damn, she was just inviting her lmao'. Remember:
