The Gathering

I sort of took all of the blanket and smashed the material onto Thorin's body. Half of me would hope it would sort of suffocate him so he would die. The other half kind of didn't want that because he would die and I would have to move his body without anyone's help. Why would no one help me move his corpse? Because I would have to kill them too for knowing that Thorin Graham was in my room, nearly naked.

Maybe it would send me to one of those maximum security prisons where barely anyone would be there and I can just stay in my cell all day. And when I do have to leave my cell, I could just go out to the courtyard and work out. Hell, maybe I should kill Thorin. That way, I wouldn't have to be bothered by him and I could become the female Hulk that no one messes with.

"Flora!" He whined, trying to take off the blanket. My hand went over to it, pressing hard onto it. It was around his chest area as I felt the faint beating of his heart. I felt a little weird but that feeling quickly was surpassed by the panic that filled the void. The idiot began to wiggle the blanket off and with it, my freedom that I would lose if my mom knew that he was up in my room.

"Thorin." I hissed, putting more weight on the blanket. The hand I had pressed onto him wasn't enough so my upper body slid onto his. "Shh, just go into the light. It's nice and warm there." I continued to hold the sheet over him, allowing it to somewhat outline his body.

"I'm hot enough." His voice came out muffled. "Are you trying to suffocate me?" Though the blanket was on his face, his voice was still loud enough for someone else to hear.

"Honey, I'm just trying to get you to escape this awful world." If anything, I was doing him a favor. It was hard to do, but I was willing to do it. It wasn't mentally hard to kill Thorin but that didn't mean it was easy to hold him down. His body rocked back and forth, nearly sliding me off my own bed.

"As much as I love you being on top of me, I'm not a big fan of the blanket on me." He sort of growled.

I paused for a moment, thinking about me actually being on top of him. Seeing the slight form of his body underneath mine made me unconformable. Somehow not only was my torso was on his, my legs were practically in his lap. I prayed that my weight would have an affect on him to the point that no little Thorin's would ever come out to this world. But was it awkward? Well, I'm awkward so that was already given. This was super awkward and probably painful for him.

My body was about to leave him and let the boy take a breath but his hands that slithered out of his trap stopped me. The tattooed fingers, saying LOVE and FIGHT as they have had the moment I met him, wiggled up to my sides and paused. They were relaxed for a moment though still gripping at the excess skin that covered my body. "Thorin, what are you doing?"

"You've made a mistake. A terrible mistake."

"Have mercy." I squeaked.

His fingers released from their relaxed stage and seized into long monsters that pitched at my sides. Unlike in the hallway, this time I was on top on yet still didn't have any control. I bent to the side and giggled all trying not to crush Thorin. His wrists were warm when my hands went to them and tried to push them away from me.

"I'm sorry!" I giggled, sliding off of him. "I just need you to stay here for a few minutes."

"Hey." His head popped up as soon as I got off from him and allowed him to breathe. "You don't have to leave." He winked. "I'm just more into seeing you than a purple sheet."

My eyes rolled. "I'm going to go see who's trying to get into my house. Maybe it's a cop that'll arrest your ass for invading my home." Did my middle finger go up at that moment? Yes, it did.

Thorin gave me a fake gasp while placing his hand on his bare chest that was sort of wrapped up in my blanket that I was going to have to wash a few times. "It's not really an invasion if you wanted it." He leaned back with both of his arms crossed behind his head.

"Whatever." I shook my head before leaving my room. If I didn't leave, he would actually die. Well, I would actually die from a heart attack.

Like a snake, I slithered down the steps as quietly as I could. Now, this wasn't graceful as my piggies decided to have a stepping match and see how much pain each one could take. But I couldn't let out the cries of pain that I wished I could have. Voices were coming from the living room, voices that I didn't recognize and I had to be a ninja to be able to listen to them. They sounded like they belonged to a bunch of smokers, rough and full of age.

I took another step with my ears out, trying to hear what they were speaking about with my mother. This wouldn't have been necessary if it wasn't for the past few years of heavy earbud use but it was worth not hearing the kids at my school. But the time has come when I'm craning my neck out just to hear some old people talk to my mom. I was so close from figuring out what they were saying about the snow, just one more step.

As my weight went down onto another step, the stairs let out a loud croak.

Son of a bitch.

"Flora?" My mom called out and let me tell you, I definitely heard that.

Two steps, two steps is what it took for me to get to the kitchen where my mom stood. Her chest was covered by her crossed arms and face full of the 'I know you were listening to the whole time' look. Bitch wasn't wrong but that didn't mean I wanted her to be right.

Next to my mother who by the way was giving me the same look was our neighbors. Not Matt and Stacey, but the other ones. The....swingers. I'm talking about the ones where their aged skin wasn't the only thing that swung if you catch my drift. They stood there, leaning on our counters like they were regular grandparents that didn't have multiple couples coming to my house. The two both had crew necks on, the male had one that said something about baseball and the wife had a burgundy one with cars playing with yarn. I won't lie that I kind of wanted it though I was allergic to cats.

Okay, let's make this clear. I'm not shaming the old duo for getting some. If anything, I'm just saying the stuff because granny is getting more action than I am.

"Flora, you remember the Wallers, right?" Mom gulped.

Yes and that their medicine cabinets are full of Viagra.

Again, no shame just jealousy.

"Yes, hi." I waved at them and received waves myself.

"Their power is out and we're taking them in for the night." Mom smiled at me, but because of our deep mother and daughter connection, it wasn't a really happy smile.

"Great." My lips rolled tightly together.

We were met with silence. The Wallers stared at mom and me through their matching thick glasses that made them bug eyed. Mr. Waller's old Adam's Apple bobbed when he cleared this throat the millionth time. Mrs. Waller just smiled though there was nothing to smile at. Mom and I just stood there, trying to think of something to say.

"So.." Mom trailed off. It was a nice attempt to start something but it was too late and too weird.

"What do you guys like to do for fuck, I mean fun? What do you guys like to do for fun?" I tried to add onto my mom's attempt.

Mom's jaw dropped. Dropped? It was more of a total grand slam with a weight of a thousand boulders, pushing her gums to the floor and even past it to the creepy crawl space that was full of spiders and possibly bodies because the house is old. No, this was the epitome of jaw drops. My mom's pearly whites showed through as she just stood there, probably thinking how her daughter is such a dumb ass.

The bell rung once again, telling me that more people wanted to come into my kingdom. At this point, I was willing to take in any intruder that was willing to kill me.

"I'll get it." I excused myself and the mess that I had created. Okay, there wasn't really a mess there. Honestly, I don't think the old folk even heard what I had said by the way they just did the same thing they were doing before I asked: nothing.

My steps were sluggish, sliding against the floor without even picking up my feet. The front door was coming closer and so was the end of the rule of no intruders that I had enforced. Well, it wasn't really enforced but it was quite known within the household that outsiders were not the most welcomed by me. The doorknob, the blessed doorknob that was once locked and kept the people out, turned and unlocked.

Glittering snow pierced my eyes, stabbing them for taking a short glimpse. The stabbing was subdued by the blocking of the snow. Two bodies, one tall and one short stood in the snow's malicious way. They were both covered in dark cloaks, cloaks that would be used in a ceremony.

A Satanic ceremony.

"Hey Stacey, Matt." I waved at the lovely two.

"Hi, our power is out. Mind if we chill here until it comes back?" Stacey stared at me with her deep eyes. "We noticed you guys had a light on." She pointed to upward to the only room upstairs, mine.

Thorin must have turned it on.

"Uh... Sure." I wanted to say no but I would rather have them there with us and the Wallers than it just being the Wallers and mom and I. "Mom!" I yelled, hopefully cashing her out of terrible small talk. "Matt and Stacey are here."

The kitchen began to fill up. Mom had to move closer to the old couple who were now drinking coffee even though I was pretty sure we didn't own a coffee machine. Matt and Stacey took a place next to me as they slipped their robes off. They laid the delicate velvet on the back of one our kitchen chairs, instantly making the room a bit darker.

"What are you doing there with those robes?" The old man said with his rough voice.

"We were in a middle of a ritual." Matt answered for the both of them.

"Ritual?" The woman asked this time.

"To our lord." Stacey said smoothly while placing her chubby hand on Matt's chest. "But we won't get into that." She laughed it off and ended the conversation on them and their religion.

"Alrighty, so it seems like you guys are the only ones without power." Mom filled the void. She looked at the couples that were nodding to her. I was about to excuse myself to my room to figure out how to get Thorin out and maybe even catch up on my sleep. Was it really necessary? Not really because I actually slept pretty well. But I couldn't. The door bell just had to go off again.

"I'll go see who that is." I groaned.

"Thank you." Mom said though I know that bitch was jelly about how I was leaving.

This was going to be the last time we're going to let someone in. Any more and we were going to kick them to the curb and wish them the best of luck as we enjoy the warm electricity that we still had. The knob wasn't cold as it should have been but it just had to be used.

The snow was as harsh on my eyes this time though more bodies were bodies were blocking it away from me. Long red hair that flowed effortlessly, a chubby beer gut and dark tattoos were the bodies that kept my eyes from stinging. Thorin was smirking while wearing a different outfit as if he was never in my house this morning. Mel smiled warmly and her father had the same rough look as he did the day I went over to his house.

"Hey, we don't have any power." Mel talked for them.

"Mind if we come in?" Thorin smiled.

Was this a neighborhood gathering?!
