Date pt 2

"Are you sure you're okay?" I asked when leaving the theater and back into the area where people bought their tickets. More people were there, quickly filling up the large space. It was becoming scarier by the seconds. Hordes of giggling, snorting, too much cologne/perfume assholes known as younger teens infested the area like locusts on a hot summer day. They laughed, threw shit on the ground and just screamed for no reason when in line.

"Oh yeah, I'm fine." He chuckled, rubbing the back of his head. The hair ruffled slightly under his hand and it just made me want to fix it. "Nothing can hurt me easily." I received a wink after that and wanted to fake gag again.

The kids were becoming louder and with it, the voice in my head telling me that they were staring at me and judging for how big I was. I felt their eyes on me, like a gnawing presence on my brain. Suddenly, I didn't want to be in Stacey's outfit, it was too tight. It showed too much unlike my big t shirts that covered everything.

"Flora, are you okay?" He asked in return when I didn't say anything as we slowly walked further out of the theater and into the ticket area. I tried to keep my eyes on the door that glistened with lights and was the only way for me to get out.

"Oh yeah, I'm fine." I gulped the lump in my throat down. "Totally fine."

"Is it the people?" He whispered lowly into my ear.

I didn't say anything and nodded, still slowly walking. My legs felt heavy and wanted to turn into stone that would paralyze me in front of the screaming kids. But I was able to nod to let Thorin know that I wasn't just some nonspeaking weirdo that didn't know how to walk. I was just a nonspeaking weirdo that felt the crippling weight of eyes on me.

The weight of Thorin's arm on my shoulder made the heavy anxiety feel lighter. His subtle cologne filled my nostrils instead, the smell of sweaty kids that covered up their said sweat with atrocious sprays that would have instantly caught fire if they were near a flame. My side was pushed to Thorin's hard one. I didn't like the fact that he probably knew how squishy I was but I found his body to be comforting.

It was actually pretty nice, his long sleeve muffed one of my ears while the other was against his side. Altogether, it was hard to tell what the teens were saying and I was a happy camper because of that. A vision of Stacey came to me while looking the children while they looked at Thorin and I. It was her telling me how she loved herself. The imagine actually helped me walk more confidently as I continued to get stares.

We were close to the door and by then I was starting to feel better. The kids were moving further and further into the theater and out of my sight. Just a few more feet and then we would be in his car free. That's all I wanted, to be in his car.

Thorin and I were only a few paces away from pushing the metallic doors open and be welcomed by the freezing air once more. That was until two bodies walked through the doors before the two of could. One of them was my mom who's shirt was no longer wrinkled and she actually looked happy. The other person had their hand around her waist. Their perfectly manicured hand was around her waist.

A woman with high cheek bones and long braids hung herself over my mother. She kept her smile while the one on mom's face quickly disappeared into a frown like she had been caught with murder. Quickly, she pulled herself out of the woman's hold and stood tall, matching the woman next to her's height.

"Flora." She said calmly.

"Mom." I gulped, already feeling the hurt wind itself around my stomach. Fuck whatever those kids thought about me, it didn't hurt me as much as my mom did.

"This is Blaire, the person I have been seeing. " She motioned to the female next to her.

"Okay." I said, eyeing the woman before pushing them out of the way and into the parking lot. Thorin followed without saying and quickly unlocked the door.

There were no words exchanged when driving away from the movie theater. Only silence when driving past more dark buildings that just screamed danger. Of course, I didn't know where we were or where he was taking me for 'part two' but at that moment, I didn't care. The heart was still swarming in my body.

The town slowly disappeared through the thick trees that laced the edge of where we lived. They buried the lights that tried to squeeze their way out into the countryside of the place only to block them out and allow the vegetation to grow wildly into our view. A river crawled parallel from us underneath the bright moon that was out. It was nice but it wasn't nice not knowing where we were going.

"Thorin, where are we going?" I turned my head away from the cool window to him.

"Part two of the date."

"And exactly where is that going to be held?"

"Somewhere special." He kept his eyes on the road.

I didn't know what Thorin considered 'special'. I just knew what he considered fun was sneaking out at night, messing around with me, punching people and making my life a living hell. But special? He probably thought something special was a good place to hide the body.

Oh god.

What if this was the end. This was it. This is why Thorin moved here, it was to start a new life after murdering someone because their mother forced them to go out with them. That's why I was nothing more than a big steak for a murderous lion who was driving me to a place that probably no one else knew about. It was a perfect crime.

The tires met with a road made of nothing but dirt. In the headlights, you could see the dirt jump into the air and onto the car but that didn't bother Thorin. He revved the engine, making the car go faster and easier for it to go up the hill it was climbing. We rocked back and forth, jumped and even were pushed back into our seats, all while going up to probably my grave. It didn't help that this area was covered by nothing but trees.

Smooth ground finally took over and the car was more stable. Quickly, the trees were becoming less thick and sparse. The ground was also becoming sparse, forcing Thorin to stop at the edge that looked over the town. Lights twinkled and gleamed, the dark buildings didn't look so ominous. It actually looked nice. Still could be my grave but it looked nice.

"Here we are." He said with his hands leaving the steering wheel.

"Why are we here?"

"To talk." He shrugged.

"....About?"

"What's bothering you." He turned to me.

Instantly, my poker face went up. Ooh and it was strong too, I made sure that my lips were straight and tight. My eyes were somewhat hooded but not to the point he couldn't see my pupils and my eyebrows were low. It was the ultimate 'you can't read me' face. "Nothing's bothering me." My voice was soft yet strong, not letting any emotion to stain the words and allow the world to see them.

"I call bullshit. Like I've said, I can see through your poker face. Tell me what's wrong."

"Thorin, I'm perfectly fine." This time, I smiled slightly but the way he didn't smile back to me told me he wasn't buying my shit.

"Flora." His dark gaze made me break.

"Okay, I'm feeling a little hurt." I finally broke. At least so did Thorin's harsh glare. I'll admit it, it was a little scary.

"Why is that?" He spoke softly.

"My mom. She didn't tell me that she was dating a girl."

"Are you hurt because she's dating a girl?"

"No, not at all. I don't care about that. I just wished she was comfortable with telling me that instead of keeping it a secret from me."

"So you're upset because she didn't tell you? Maybe she was just waiting for the right time." He tried to contribute to my rambling.

"I just don't understand why she was waiting in the first place. I like to think that she could tell me anything. Even you can tell me anything and know you're not going to be judged. I just hate not being told something especially when it does involve my life because she's my mom, she's in my life." I laughed at the end. "Just the fact makes me hurt."

For a while, he didn't say anything. Well, it wasn't a while but it felt a while when the only noise was the whistling wind and the heat that blasted the air between us. "Flora, I'm sorry." The words finally came out. "Everyone does everything for a reason. Don't worry, there is a reason why she kept that from you."

I sighed. "I guess. Did you enjoy the movie?" I tried to change the subject.

"Oh yeah, it was great." He changed his voice to a lighter tone. "Until I decided to lay on the floor."

"Until you decided?" I snorted. Yeah, it was unattractive but it was also involuntary.

"Yes, I decided to. Chair hopping can very tiresome and so I thought I was going to need a little nap. I just so happened to hit my head a little bit."

My eyes rolled. "Sureee Thorin. Just keep on thinking that. I thought I was going to have to be your nurse again."

"I mean, I am a little sore." He rubbed his side. It was the side that I was held against.

"Wait, is it because you were holding me so tight? Because real talk here, I'm really sorry about that."

"Sorry about what?" That earned me a chuckle.

"The whole me freaking out thing. I know it's annoying, it's even annoying for me so it's probably especially annoying and I'm sorry you had to help me. It's just that large groups of people freak me out and sometimes I-"

"Woah, calm down there. You're speaking a hundred words per second there." A hand went onto my shoulder. "It's okay, Flora. I understand. A lot of people freak me out too and them trying to impress people." He crinkled his nose. "So gross."

"Dude, I know what you mean. And they can be so mean and I think, if they're going to mean to their friends, they're going to definitely be mean to me. That's why I always have my earbuds in school." I felt a little better and less guilty by the fact that I practically had him muffle my ears.

"Ah so that's why. Mel told me about that and even proved it once. You were walking in the hallway and we seriously went down the hallway screaming yer name."

"Maybe I did hear you and I was just ignoring you."

"Would you really ignore me, Flora?" He turned to his side, allowing his chest to face me.

"Trust me, I have done it before and I will do it again."

"And to think that we're friends." That actually made me laugh. It was a nice moment, just sitting in the darkness, not being dead, and talking to Thorin who was actually making me laugh. It was weird but I actually somewhat enjoyed not just being in my bedroom watching cat videos and talking to some guy on the internet.

"Friendly acquaintances, Thorin we've been over this at least a million times."

"But I do love it each time you say it." His cheeked went to the headrest next to him, smashing it up and giving his face a funky look.

"Maybe, I shouldn't say it." I crossed my arms.

"So rude. So very rude." He whispered.

"I know, I'm heartless."

"Nah, you're not. You're really nice and caring, Flora."

"Pfft, say that to my black heart." I tried my hardest to not blush as the asshole was telling me how great I was. "It's not like you don't know how to be nice and caring." I think I was complimenting him though it was sounding like criticizing him. "All you do is be a good guy all the time and feel the need to spend money on me which by the way, I will pay you back." I lifted my finger in the air. "Don't forget about that."

"Take me out sometime then."

"Fine, I will. Ooh, and believe me when I do. You're going to have such a good time that you're going to crazy."

"Don't promise me a good time." He leaned in, squinting his eyes.

"Oh buddy, it's not going to be a good time." I leaned forward, also squinting my eyes. His nose and my nose were close, really close but him thinking he could scare me was not acceptable. "It's going to be a great time." My hand went to the middle console to allow my body to get closer to Thorin's.

"Yeah?" His hand went onto my hand. "Greater than this date?" His words rolled right off of his tongue. Closer, his face was coming closer to mine. The boy actually thought he was scaring me, but no. No, I was going to scare him. I made the move and motioned my face closer to his instead of backing down.

"This isn't a date, it's a meeting and yeah, it's going to be freaking awesome." Slightly, his head turned. Though we were having a staring contest, he broke it to subtly look down and back up to my eyes. I didn't want to break the contact because I was willing to show him that I was going to show him up.

"Fine then." He backed off, allowing me to win. "We'll see who can hold the best meeting." With that, his hands went onto the gear shift and steering wheel.

It didn't take long for us to get back to my house nor did it for me to feel better. I felt really good at that moment, we shared some laughs and even started a competition that I wasn't going to lose. Mom was still out but that was alright, I needed some space from her. Though I was feeling better didn't mean I wasn't still salty by the fact that she would hide something from me.

My driveway was empty except for my car that stood all by itself until Thorin rolled in next to it. Psychologically, I blew it a little kiss because it was my baby. The car stopped and so did my weird goggling at my own vehicle. I was going to open my door but Thorin quickly left his seat and proceeded to do a little awkward jog in front of the car to my door, opening it like some knight in shining armor with asthma.

We walked to my doorway, freezing against the harsh winds. "You know you could have just stayed in the car." I said in between my teeth chattering.

"Yeah, but I wanted to say goodnight to you."

"You're going to make me gag." I rolled my eyes once more with my hand on the door knob. Before I could make my escape into the warmth of my room, a pair of arms wrapped themselves around my shoulders. They pulled me in like some spider on a piece of prey on its spiderweb. They were warm and strong just like Thorin's chest to which my face was smashed against.

"I don't want you to ever worry about being annoying to me." The whispers went into my ears. "No matter what, I will always take care of things and make sure you have nothing but the best. Even if it means I have to beat someone's ass. Okay?" I nodded my head because well, my mouth was covered by his shirt. "Goodnight." His lips went to the top of my head, staying there for a while as he felt my back as I did with his.

WOoooo! Look, I'm actually publishing on the right day! Anyway, I hope you enjoyed part two of this 'meeting'. And gasp! We finally somewhat met Kate's date. Were they as what you had suspected? Do you think they're going to be nice, mean? Hmm.. I don't know. But that last part with Flora and Thorin was hella cute.
