I wasn't prepared for today at all. We had just been told that we had to go in our smart's and that was all. I wasn't even sure I could still fit into my uniform. I was due today and that was slightly scary but I managed to keep a smile on even though my back was killing me. I did tell Chief I would stop working 2 days before I was due but still here I was on my due date working.

"Are you ready?" Matt smiled as he come in.

"Can you help me get the buttons done up on my shirt?" I smiled, he bent down and managed to do it. I scraped my hair back and put my cap on and smiled at him. We headed out to the living room and Kelly was stood there in his smart's. Anna at his side in a long grey dress, a cardigan and some heels. I smiled as I hugged her.

"You look beautiful." I smiled.

"Ah thank you Gabby."

"I can't wait to get back into dresses like that." I laughed, we headed off to the firehouse all together and when we got there everyone was dressed in Smart's with their partners dressed up with them. I held Matt's hand as we went and stood with everyone. Chief Jones was stood there with Chief Boden. All the head Chief's from headquarters were stood there as well.

"Attention!" Boden shouted as he stood in front of everyone, we all stood to attention and kept eyes forward focused for me personally on the firehouse door. We had a crowd of pedestrians watching the gathering too.

"I want to thank you all for being so amazing while we went through some testing times. I'm proud to say today we have some rather prestigious awards going out." He smiled. "First of all Matthew Casey please step forward." He smiled. Matt went up to him and turned to face me while Chief gathered some stuff. I smiled at him and placed my right hand on the side of bump just because I could feel movement. He looked at me concerned but before I could do anything Chief turned back to us all.

"Gabriella Dawson." I smiled as I walked forward and stood in front of Matt. Chief smiled but Matt looked very confused, he wasn't expecting this. Chief handed me a medal box.

"Lieutenant Matthew Casey. I am presenting this medal to you for bravery in the field, you are the best Lieutenant this truck could ask for. We are gifted to have you working here. So here I present to you this medal for Captain. Well Done Captain Casey." I saluted at him as he tearfully saluted back. I turned on my heel and headed back to the others. Standing back in my spot with a smile on my face.

"Gabriella Dawson." Chief smiled, as I sighed and tiredly headed back now standing in Matt's position, he took a box from Chief and smiled as he stood in front of me.

"Truck member and paramedic Gabriella Dawson Casey I present this medal to you as a representation of your work. You have done wonderfully in both your positions and this medal allows me to show this. Well done on being the first female paramedic and firefighter in 86 years to be awarded the International Firefighter's award. Congratulations." He smiled. "I now would also like to add how proud I am of you today for still be here even when our due date is today. I love you so much Mrs Casey and I can't wait for this adventure." He smiled, hugging and kissing me quickly. We both heel turned and headed back into form.

"Attention." We all saluted to Chief Boden and Jones before we were allowed to fall out and everyone went round talking and congratulating each other.

We went home and got changed into some outing clothes and everyone headed over to Molly's. I let Matt go with Kelly while me and Anna got ready. She come into the bedroom wearing a gold dress that split up the leg. I smiled as she looked great.

"Wow Anna!" I laughed.

"What are you wearing?" She smiled as I stood up currently in my dressing gown and underwear.

"God knows. There is nothing I want to wear." She sighed and shook her head going through my wardrobe, she began picking out random dresses and passing them to me.

"Definitely this one!" She smiled handing me a long sleeved, floor length black dress and some grey suede shoes. I sighed and got changed into it and actually for the first time when I looked in the mirror I was happy with what I was wearing. I just felt happy with myself. She insisted on taking a picture of us both before we left. Luckily Molly's was in walking distance of our apartments. We headed off to the bar and met the others there. Matt come over, kissed my cheek and put his arm around me as we had photos taken with Kelly and Anna. We all sat down at a table in the very back corner of the room. I smiled as I went to the bathroom. I had a fight with my dress but as I managed to lift it up after getting into the cubicle I saw the blood trickling down both my legs and I started crying I was frozen I didn't know what to do. I realised my phone was on the table with my keys and Matt's phone. I fell against the wall muffling my cries with my hands.

"It's been 20 minutes are you sure she's okay?" I smiled.

"Matt she's pregnant she's probably just struggling to get her dress sorted." Anna laughed.

"Yeah true. I'm going to head back to the apartment okay? Let me know if you need me." I smiled as I headed home quickly, I just decided to turn the heating on so it would be warm for us when we came back. I cleaned up around the apartment a little bit. Turned out I was actually 25 minutes when Kelly rang me.

"You need to come back to Molly's now." Then he hung up. I grabbed my keys and ran to the bar, even from up the road I could see blue flashing lights and the ambulance. I felt the tears running down my cheeks already as I went in I saw 2 paramedics in the bathroom.

"What's happened?" I sighed.

"Well Anna found Gabby so she's in there with her and the paramedics." Kelly sighed.

"Right okay." I smiled, completely fake but I managed it. After a few minutes Gabby was bought out in a wheelchair with a oxygen mask and a heart rate monitor on. She smiled and put her hand out to me as I took it and thanked Anna and we headed to Med.

"I'm sorry. I wasn't sure what to do." I whispered with a cough as we waited for Will.

"It's okay. I'm sure everything is fine"

"Gabby. Your okay. I've had the test results back and everything is fine. Honestly it's normal to have periods during your pregnancy. We are going to keep you in tonight but you can be collected by Matt in the morning." Will smiled. I sat up more comfortable now I was in some pajamas we kept in the car in case of emergencies. I had the blanket as well. I kissed Matt goodbye and watched as he headed off out the ward. I sighed and laid down with the blanket pulled up to my shoulders. I laid on my side facing the door. There was no way I was sleeping tonight I just watched the stars out the window while I laid there.

"You give me a thousand reasons to stay alive. Your the reason I smile everyday. I love you with my whole heart." I got out like a whisper.

"Your the reasons behind the few million smiles a day." A familiar voice came from the other side of the bed, I turned over and smiled nearly crying as he come over and hugged me.

"How did you know where I was?" I smiled.

"Matt called me and told me you could do with some company?" He smiled.

"There's no way you've come from Detroit?"

"No I was in Chicago anyway because I knew your due date was coming up."

"Peter Mills you little softie. I love you." I laughed, after hugging him he sat down next to me in the armchair and held my arm.

"Try and get some sleep yeah? I promise I won't leave your side." He smiled, the nurse came in and gave me some pain relief and it made me feel really dozy and spaced out.

"I'm so glad your here."

"Why?"

"Because I love you?"

"Um..."

"I love you and your my favorite human. I'm excited for us to be having this baby..." I laughed, as I looked at the door I saw Matt look at me upset and then just walk out.
