"GABBY!!" I shouted as she fell and Kelly just caught her, he was holding her by the wrist now. She was still awake but on the verge of passing out.

"Where's Chief?" Kelly radioed.

"I can't get upstairs so on my way back down." He radioed back.

"Oh shit okay." I sighed. Just as I said it Kelly fell from the ladder. He tried to grab Gabby and get her over him so she didn't hit the floor but it didn't work. It ended up they both hit the floor. We all ran over to them. They both were flat out as expected but there was a pool of blood and I had no idea who it was coming from I wouldn't be surprised if they were both bleeding but it was hard to tell. We couldn't move them either because of spinal damage. Someone went up and got Jon and the paramedics took him. Will was coming out with a special injuries unit to get them both to wherever they needed to be.

"Let's get some lights set up and blankets over them. It's getting dark and we can't leave them. Will doesn't know how long he's going to be because the traffic is bad." Chief smiled. I knelt down at Gabby's side and kissed her forehead.

"Come on Gab's." I smiled. Everyone bought the lights from the truck and set up them so we had some light. The police had corned off the alley we were in and there was a massive crowd.

"Her parents are here." Chief smiled.

"Let them over."

Gabby's mum and dad came running over, her mum started crying when she saw her and her dad had to stand back.

"Come on sweetheart you are strong. I love you. I will be at that hospital waiting for you." She smiled, kissing her head. They emotionally headed back over by the trucks. Casey didn't leave Gabby's side. His 2 best friends were injured and on the verge of death.

Kelly was the first to mumble. I reached over and held his shoulder.

"Don't move Mate. Stay there okay?" I smiled.

"Casey I'm so sorry how's Dawson?"

"She's right here next to you. She's out for the moment. You'll both be okay. Will is on his way."

"Okay-- I am so sorry though. I tried to save her."

"Don't worry about that now." I sighed.

*Ma-Mat? Matt?" Gabby got out shakily.

"Gabby!" I smiled.

"Everywhere hurts."

"Yeah it would do. You've fallen 30ft from a ladder. Kelly's at your side." I smiled.

I couldn't move my hand but Kelly managed to hold my hand anyway. I couldn't even open my eyes. I had no use anywhere I was in agony though.

"Gabby we are going to put you on morphine." Casey smiled.

"You can't Matt." I sighed.

"Why? You need it. Your in pain?"

"I think I might pregnant so I don't want any pain meds." I felt a few singular tears run down my cheeks.

"Oh my god. Okay...Why didn't you tell me?"

"Because I might not be. I'm not sure." I tried really hard and I got my eyes open and smiled at him.

After 45 minutes Will turned up.

"What happened?"

"Right they've both fallen 30ft from the ladders. Kelly can move his arms and head but is in pain, Gabby can open her eyes and talk but that's it. She thinks she is pregnant so she cant have morphine." I sighed.

"Okay. Well I have 2 ambulances and we will make sure they are together for you in the hospital. I need to make sure they don't have spinal damage or anything." He smiled. We headed over to them and they were both talking.

"Hi!" Kelly smiled.

"Guys." Will smiled. He went through checking Gabby first as she took overall because of the possible pregnancy. He checked her responses and everyone and she didn't feel anything.

"Gabby? Do you feel this?" He smiled as he squeezed her leg.

"Nope.?" She looked up at the sky. Kelly was now sat up ever so slightly, another doctor said it was his head injury he was concerned about. Kelly looked at me really worried. Chief even looked concerned.

Will got them both transported onto the ambulances and on the way to med.

"Kelly has a head injury that we need to scan around and stuff to check he's not got any out lying injures. Gabby can't feel anything? I'm really concerned. I think if this continues after 12 hours there is a high chance of her being paralysed or even spine/brain damage so I'm going to make sure we check her over a lot. Casey your more than welcome to come with me and stay at her side?" He smiled. Chief told me it was fine, so I went with Will to the hospital.

Kelly got placed next to us in the double room we were in. He'd just got from back from having a scan to check for brain damage. He smiled and sat up to face us. Gabby was laying there staring up at the ceiling. She was tired from the scans that Will had done earlier.

"I'm tired." She sighed.

"Me too."

"Can you hold my hand?"

"I am?" I smiled, looking down and seeing my hand holding her's tightly. Only then did I realise the extent of her injuries. Will come in and smiled. He put her bed up so she was sat upright now, taking the neck collar off her.

"Your scan's come back okay. No brain or spine damage, a couple of bruises, cuts, a dislocation and a small fracture but apart from that your okay."

"Thank god for that." I smiled.

"We'll get your dislocation sorted and stuff and then we will get you into physio and stuff to try and get you back to work. The reason you can't feel anything is temp paralysis because the nerve endings shut down in your body because of the pain you are in. Shouldn't be long."

"Thank you." I smiled, we headed outside her room, and Kelly hobbled out to join us. We all looked at each other concerned.

"The baby?" I asked.

"We don't know if she's pregnant yet." Will sighed.

"What do you mean?"

"We can't perform any type of blood test or scan until she's up and moving again so she could be or not." He sighed before walking off. I needed a little break and Kelly understood when I told him.

I smiled as Kelly come back in and sat on the edge of my bed.

"How you feeling?"

"I'm in agony with my knee." I sighed.

"You can feel it?"

"Yeah. Certainly."

"Squeeze my hand." He smiled. I held his hand and squeezed my fingers I really did it. I smiled, he smiled.

"I did it!!"

"Well done!" I hugged him, he went back to his own bed as my mum and dad came in and sat with me even though they were both really emotional and upset. I smiled and listened to them both tell me that it was a mistake starting my job as a fire fighter and it was so dangerous. I just focused on my recovery and going back to work rather than what they were saying. Then Matt came back in.

"Who's this?" Her mum smiled, Kelly looked at me, she looked at me.

"Oh hi! I'm Matt Casey. Her Lieuitent. The one at the scene earlier." I smiled, shaking both thier hands.

"Actually mum Matt is my boyfriend." She smiled.

"Gabby? That's against the rules."

"No mum it's fine. It's okay." She laughed.

"I can assure you Mrs Dawson it is fine." I smiled.
