~Chapter 9

As we ate I still had those thoughts on my mind about Light. He carelessly ate and chatted with me and I noticed little things about him that I hadn't noticed before. I noticed his smile and his extremely white teeth. I noticed his smooth skin and perfect jaw line. His nose was even perfect to me and it complimented his mesmerizing chocolate eyes. I noticed his gorgeous caramel hair and how it framed his face perfectly. Light Yagami... Is a handsome man.

"Excuse me miss, are you the girl that just moved here?" A boy approached our table. Light took on the same sour features as he did at the mall yesterday. "My name is Osoma and I just can't help but to notice you. I see you walking the halls and I guess I'm too nervous to talk to you. But now, I was wondering if you wanted to go on a date this weekend?" Before I could answer this guy, Light had cleared his throat loudly and interrupted us. "I'm sorry Osoma, but she'll be busy studying for a test with me next weekend so you're out of luck." Light said firmly. "Huh? Oh I didn't notice you there Light. That's really too bad, but here." He pulled out a piece of paper and handed it to me. "This is my number so please reconsider on your own time. Bye Bye!" He waved and left the café. As soon as he exited, Light snatched the paper from my hands and crumbled it up. "That's out of the way. Now, how's the pancake? It was good, am I right?" He went back to smiling and being happy as if it never happened. This time I decided I had to question him. "Light, we're not really studying next weekend are we? Why did you lie to him?" I asked him curiously. Light quickly looked away and shut his eyes. "Well, we are studying next weekend but it's not for a test so technically I wasn't lying. Anyways, you said yourself that you didn't want to date someone that you didn't know much about."

I chuckled at him and he looked at me in confusion. "Are you jealous of them asking me out Light?" I teased him and his face had reddened. "What!? No way, not at all!!! I don't have anything to do with your romance life. I'm only trying to protect you." Light continued to lie. I knew he was lying because of his expression. I decided to put everything down at once. "Light if you're so jealous of these guys asking me out, then why don't you ask me out yourself?" I smiled lightly. Light started laughing loudly. "No way. We're just friends right? Anyway, let's just go hang out today or something. Let's go!" He quickly stood up and waited on me at the door. I sighed and stood up as well. As I walked to the door, I realized that he truly has feelings for me. Why else would he react like that. Even so, I have feelings for him too but I'll never admit that. NEVER. So he'll have to be the first to admit it between us. I'm not sure how I'll get him to do that, but I determined to date him if he asked me too. After all, he said himself that we'd make a good couple.

"Ok, so let's go somewhere really nice like maybe, hmmm..." I placed a finger on my lips and thought for a second. Light smiled and pointed in the opposite direction of the café. "We can walk in the park or feed the ducks, right?" He asked me with anticipation. I smiled widely and nodded. "I'll buy the bread since you just got us pancakes. So let's be sure to stop by a grocery store on the way there." As soon as we decided, we were on our way there. We both stopped at the grocery store, purchased a loaf of bread and made it to the park by 2:00 pm. Light took off his jacket and put it on the grass for me to sit on. I smiled and took a seat. As I opened the bread, Light sat next to me. Pretty soon, the beautiful ducks were in a crowd waiting patiently as we tossed them bread. Our laughter and smiles could easily be mistaken as a relationship much deeper than friendship.

It could've easily been mistaken by anyone except for the young man who approached us. Light helped me up an tossed the empty bag into a trashcan as the boy began speaking. "Hi May, I'm Hideki. We go to school together and I was just wondering if you wanted to be my girlfriend?" As soon as he said this, Light huffed and looked down in anger. I sighed and smiled awkwardly. "No thank you. I'm not interested, sorry." I bowed to him and he sighed. "Are you sure May? I mean, it's not like you're dating Light here right?"

"She said she's not interested so get lost." Light looked up at him with a deafening glare. "S-sorry for interrupting you two." He put his hands up and rushed away. Light then looked at me as if things never happened. I furrowed my brows in worry and he laughed nervously. "Sorry about that. Sometimes you have to get rough. Let's go for a walk on the path. The wind has started to blow and the trees at the park have bloomed beautifully." Light grabbed my hand and led me onto the path. As I walked with, I gasped at the beauty of the familiar scene before me. I also noticed that Light hadn't let go of my hand yet. Now is my chance to reveal the truth with him. Now is my chance to see if Light truly has feelings for me.
