~Chapter 15

"Uhhhhh... Hi there?" I greeted them with confusion. Then I realized that I noticed Mr. Yagami was one of the men. "Whoa, hi there Mr. Yagami. Light told me you were still at the station." I smiled and took a seat with the men. "I was still there but I decided I'd come home by now. I just came in here about 5 minutes ago to visit Mr. Hart here." He chuckled and pointed at my father. My dad smiled and rubbed my head. "Wow May, 10:00 on the dot. You and Light sure are stepping up your game." He playfully addressed me. "Oh, by the way. Remember how I talked about getting into contact with an old friend here? Well there he is! Turns out that Light's father works with him." He pointed at the guy next to me. "Pleased to meet you! I'm Matsuda." He nervously chuckled and reached to shake my hand. "Dad he's so young. What is he, like 27...28?" I asked in curiosity. Matsuda piped up to answer me.

"I'm 22 years old. Your dad knew me since I was young. We became the best of friends before I moved back to Japan and joined the police force. If you don't mind me asking, how old are you?" He blushed lightly at me. I laughed and rolled my eyes. "I'm about a month away from being 20. Actually I'm a few days away from it." I told him. My dad cleared his throat and spoke up. "You can forget it Matsuda. I don't want my daughter to be married to a cop and I definitely don't want it to be you. Besides, she's dating Light right now so back off." He said sternly. "As man, come on. I have nothing but rotten luck." We all laughed at Matsuda.

Soon enough, they brought up the Kira case that seemed to be plaguing Japan right now. I was naturally surprised at how much information that Mr. Yagami was giving out. I thought it was generally classified! Well, eventually he did request that I go to my room so I respected him and bid everyone goodbye/goodnight. Now that I know Light's father had something to do with the case, I felt much safer. He was chief of police for a reason and I knew not to take that lightly.

Of course another night and day passed and class was over... Well, at least for me. "Man he must really be pushing himself for the entrance exams. Taking a night class? Do you ever take a break handsome?" I stared at the window from the outside. It was dark but it wasn't all that scary. I was close enough to the entrance of school that I could run inside for help if I wanted to. The only thing truly terrifying is the feeling of being watched. "Do I dare look around?" I questioned myself in fear. I figured 'hey, what have I got to lose?' So I looked around anyway. Just as I suspected, there was a man peeking out from around a corner.

What the hell was he up to?

I sat and looked at him ever so often. His expression stayed focused and he paid more attention to the class window that anything else. Judging by the fact that he wasn't after me, I had hoped he wasn't planning to attack some other helpless and unsuspecting female student. Should I call the police on him? Is he Kira!? No wait, that couldn't be. Kira would be somewhere where a criminal is, not with a bunch of high school students.

"So I don't get a hug? You're just gonna stand here hmm?" Light teased me. "Huh? Whoa you got dismissed fast. Light listen, there's..." I looked over at the darkened corner and the man was gone. "There's what? What's going on?" He questioned me with a confused expression. "Oh, nothing. I suppose it's time to head back now, huh." I looked down sadly. Light kissed my forehead and rubbed my hair. "Listen. Sooner or later we'll gain your father's trust completely. Then we can start spending the night at each others house. About 2 years after we get into university, I'm going to rent a place for us to live. It's all about patience. Now let's head back, I gotta get you home."

Light, what's going on. Weren't you supposed to meet me at the mall today?

I put away my phone and sighed sadly. He's not answering my texts or calls again. Was he in some sort of danger or was it something else? Why now has Light been acting like he's hiding something from me? Could it be that he truly is cheating on me? No, it's just my overactive brain again. Remember that this is the man that truly loves you no matter what. I groaned and rubbed the bridge of my nose.

Light, are you okay?

I sent another text before deciding to walk through the stores again. There were still a few that I hadn't checked out yet.

As I entered the store I noticed a group of girls from school chatting in a circle. They weren't the mean ones, but the ones that were eager to meet me when I had moved here. One of them kept looking over and talking to her friends with a sad expression. She soon gathered the courage to approach me. "H-hi there May." She greeted me shyly. I flashed a large smile to let her know it was ok. "Hey what's up? Shija, is it?" I asked her. Her eyes brightened as if she was being noticed by a celebrity. "Yes! That's really my name. Anyway..." She became serious again and prepared to ask me a question. "Did you and Light break up yesterday?"

I furrowed my brows in confusion and chuckled. "Huh? Of course not. Why would you ask that?" I wondered. She seemed really hesitant to answer me at first, but she finally gathered the words she wanted to say. "Well it's just that he called my friend this morning and asked her on a bus ride date."

"...I'm sorry. What?"
