I entered the house and squealed loudly. When I turned I saw my dad looking at me with confusion and stroking his trimmed beard. "Okay, so I take it that your first day went well???" He questioned me with a smirk. I laughed nervously and rubbed the back of my head. "We'll yeah. I think I finally made a friend!" I told him excitedly. He chuckled and approached me for a hug. "That's great honey! You've never really made a friend anywhere else we went to so I'm really happy to hear this. What's her name, May?" He pulled away from the hug and asked me. I chuckled nervously and felt my face heat up. "Well actually it's not a her it's a he. His name is Light Yagami." As soon as I said this, my dad looked at me with widened eyes and tightened his fists at his sides. "Oh... It's a guy huh? Well, I suppose this is understandable. I mean, you are 19 and soon you'll be 20. You're technically an adult and I guess I should've seen this coming. A... boyfriend." As soon as he said this, my head swirled and the word repeated all around me.

"NO WAY DAD! NO WAY, NO WAY, NO WAY!!!" I grabbed him and shook him repeatedly. "I'm never going to have a boyfriend! I don't ever want one so take it back right now, right now, RIGHT NOW!!!" I freaked out. "whooooaaaaaa, stop shaking me, calm down May! I take it back, I take it back!" He shouted at me until I let him go. We both signed in relief at each other. My dad wiped sweat from his head and chuckled lightly. "Every day you remind me of your mother." I gasped when he said this. He placed his hand on my back and hugged me again. "Well regardless of who your friend is, treat them right and you'll be friends forever. I know that from experience ad I have a friend here in Japan. I plan to get into contact with him soon. Anyway, goodnight and please rest well honey. You've got a bright day ahead of you." My dad kissed my forehead and walked to his room on this first floor. I smiled and went upstairs to my room. I threw my bag in the corner and flopped down on my bed and stared up at the ceiling with a stupid smile on my face. "Light Yagami." I sighed happily and drifted off to sleep. A million ideals ran through my head of some things I could do with my friend. Mini golf, shopping, movies, walks, all sorts of fun things! Light and I... Me and Light... Friends.

Soon the next morning came and I jetted downstairs, excited to start the day. My dad was drinking coffee and watching the news when he caught wind of my excitement. "Whoa there, what going on with you? I don't think I've seen you this excited in months!" He chuckled at me. I smiled and grabbed a banana for breakfast. "I'm just ready to start the day yknow, no big deal dad! I'm heading out so have a good day at work!" I hugged him before he could question me and I headed outside in the morning fog. My anticipation for the day was almost to overwhelming for myself as I rushed down the sidewalk. The birds off in the distance had caught my attention long enough for me to run into the back of a firm stranger. I hit the ground and quickly sat up to apologize.

"I'm so sorry... Light?" I noticed him from the back. He turned and smiled at me. "Geez May, you look so excited to get to school!" He joked at he reached out to me. In grabbed his hand and he helped me up. Light dusted off my clothes and fixed my hair. "Slow down next time OK? Did you forget you lived so close to me? If you're not careful, you'll run into me everyday." He joked with me. I laughed and looked away for a bit. When I looked back at him, he had a bright smile plastered on his face. "Cmon, we'll be late to class." He grabbed my hand and pulled me along. I gasped lightly and he realized what was happening. He quickly let go and chuckled nervously. "My bad, I'm sorry about that." He apologized and kept looking forward. I smiled lightly and nodded. Soon, we had made it to school and entered the large building. We had about 5 minutes before class began so we took the time to chat outside of the class doors. "So why did your parents name you May? I thought about it last night and I came to two conclusions. It was either because they thought it was a pretty name, or you were born in the month of May." Light spoke to me as I chomped on the banana I took for breakfast this morning. "Mhmm..." I swallowed quickly. "A little bit of both. You're spot on! Anyway, why did your parents name you Light?" I asked him as I took another bite of the banana. "Hmmm." He stroked his chin in thought. "You know, I'm not really sure." He laughed and rubbed the back of his head. "Well I know my last name has to do with Night bit my first name is Light. It seems like my name is a contradiction am I right?" He joked with me. I laughed with a mouth full of banana. I soon realized how embarrassing I was being and swallowed the banana quickly. I looked away from him but he pulled my face back with his fingers on my chin. He stared at me intently until I realized what was going on. He wiped some banana off my face with a napkin and smiled lightly, letting go of my face. "Sorry about that." He chuckled at me. I smiled widely at him and nodded. "No problem."
