~Chapter 11

When I finished, I quickly left the room to examine the spot Light was at. There was nothing there... Nothing but grass and bugs. "So then what the hell did he pick up?" I questioned myself while I headed home. I decided it would be rude to ask him over text so I decided to drop by his house on the way. When I knocked, Mrs.Yagami answered the door with her familiar bright smile. "Hello May! Have you come to see Light?" I nodded and flashed a kind smile. "Yes ma'am, may I come in?"

"Oh darling, I'll have to tell him you stopped by. He came home and locked himself in his room but then he headed out again a few moments ago. You didn't see him on your way back?" She asked me in confusion. "No ma'am I didn't see him. I guess that would mean he left in the opposite direction." I figured easily. "Oh that's right. He probably headed to the convenience store for a study snack. I hear entrance exams are next month sometime and I understand that Light likes to study ahead of time. Oh well, I'm so sorry you missed him dear." She seemed let down on my behalf. "It's ok Mama Yagami. I'll just call him or text him when I get home anyway. Thanks so much and you have a good night." I bowed respectfully to her. "As, you're just the sweetest. You have a good night too!"

As soon as she closed the door, I pulled out my phone and texted him.

Light, where are you? Are you okay?

I waited about three minutes and sighed as I walked back home. By the time I made it back to the house, he still hadn't answered so I sent another text.

Light, where are you.

I waited 6 more minutes and he still hasn't replied. This was odd because he normally replied to me rather quickly. Even after all these months, he still replied quickly to me.

Light, damn it! Answer me right now!

After I sent the text I waited 5 minutes for yet another no reply. He's not sleeping, and his phone isn't dead. I had no choice but to call him. "You had better pick up Light Yagami." I angrily whispered to myself as the phone rang. Soon it clicked and his breathing was on the other line. Before I could even say anything he quickly interrupted me. "I'll call you back May, I'm busy!" Then he hung up on me. I tried calling him back but it went straight to voicemail. "Two can play at this game." I growled viciously and tossed my phone into the corner of my room. "Light I'm going to teach you a lesson about ignoring me." I glared at my ceiling and fell asleep with anger in my heart. This of course caused me to have a bad dream about Light. Of course I love him, but I still get upset at him. So he'll definitely have to apologize the next time I saw him.

I woke up from a night of tossing and turning and headed downstairs. I poured some cereal and ate it in silence. My dad noticed my behavior and immediately called it out. "Trouble in paradise honey?" He waited silently for reply. I simply grunted and ate another spoon full of cereal. Dad chuckled and continued to drink his coffee for the day. "Well whatever has you so grumpy I just want to let you know it'll be ok. The strong couples get over arguments and love each other even more. It's about honesty, understanding, and love. At least that what kept your mom and I going for 24 years before she passed. Anyway I'm heading to work so have a good day at school. Be safe and remember everything I told you." He smiled and prepared to head out. Moments later, his car pulled out of the garage and he was on his way. I sighed and prepared to head to school. I took the long way just avoid Light. When I made it to class, I was a few minutes late but the teacher excused me and I had no penalty. I avoided eye contact with Light and told the girl behind me to throw away any notes he passed up. I even ignored his texts and payed attention only to the lesson in front of my eyes. As soon as the bell rang, I jolted out the door because I knew Light would be hot on my tail afterwards. I rounded a few corners and hid outside under an cherry blossom tree. I really thought I was home free until I felt a hand touch my shoulder. I looked up at him and groaned.

"Of course I couldn't spend one day away from you can I?" I looked at him with a dull expression. It sucked how much I love him. His hurt expression was really too much for me so I kept my eyes down, even when he sat next to me. Light rubbed my back gently. "You don't really mean that, do you?" He asked me in a broken tone of voice. I sighed and shook my head. "Of course I didn't mean it. I love you but you really upset me yesterday. I was worried about you but you didn't take the time to talk. You weren't even home when I came by. Were you with someone else Light?" I spat the last part out and looked St him with angry eyes. Light smiled and kissed my forehead. "There's no one else silly. You're my only love, remember? You see, last night I witnessed a man dying. I didn't answer your texts beforehand because the new jacket you got me was too thick to feel my phone vibrate. Anyway, the man was attacking a woman and had less than pure intention. Suddenly he was hit and killed by a moving vehicle and the woman was safe. It was around that time that you called me. I was simply to shocked to talk." Light admitted to me. I thought for a little but the bell rang signaling we were both late for class. I quickly stood up and held a hand out to Light. As we rushed to separate classes, I forgave him and squeezed his hand in reassurance. "I love you. We'll talk when we get to Sociology." Light said with relief. He waved and went into his class. Afterwards, I continued to rush to my class as well.
