"We're going to 90210, Beverly Hills." Miss Abby announces and we all clap, "We are going to the Energy Dance National Invitational. So let's get to pyramid. Paige, you knew you were gonna be there. You forgot your dance. You have so much more talent than you're able to show, A: Because of an injury B: Because you don't remember what you're doing." She reveals the next headshot, "Nia. I thought you could have been better. I need to be just as strong at the end as you are at the beggining."Next one, "I have Chloe. Chloe, you've been consistently in the top five for most of your life. Sixth is not good enough for you."

After that she reveals Kendall's headshot.

"Kendall, you came out there strong. You were exciting, you were energized, your tricks were clean. Your movements were sharp. You attacked them. Everything a great jazz dance needs to be. When you--"

"This is so boring." Kenzie whispers.

"Yeah, right?"I whisper back.

"I just wanna dance and play." She whispers back.

"Me too." I agree.

We look back to the pyramid and notice that Brooke was the next one on the pyramid.

"Next is Melanie. What can I say? You did great, you fixed all of your mistakes, but you placed second, and you know what that is. The point is, you do great, but I know that's not good enough for a dancer like you." Miss Abby tells me.

"Now, everyone is on the group dance and this group routine is very disturbing, and the title is 'My Last Text'." Miss Abby announces and we all look over to the moms, who look really confused.

​​​​​​When Miss Abby said 'My Last Text', I thought that she was going to send us the routine on a text message, but I don't have a phone.

Kenzie, Maddie, and Brooke all have solos. Chloe, Kendall, and Nia are having a little dance-off for the last solo. I have a jazz duet with Kenzie, and I'm so excited! I'm honestly a little bit worried about Kenzie, she has to learn the group routine,  duet, and a solo, on like three days.

"So, here's a car seat. Okay, Maddie, get in the passenger seat right there." Miss Abby tells us as we're about to start learning the group routine.

So there's a seat where Paige and Maddie sit. Paige is like driving and Maddie using her phone. Brooke, Nia, Kendall, Chloe and Kenzie are in the back. When I'm about to ask where I'm sitting Gia arrives with a booster seat, talk about creativity, but is it normal for a kid on a booster to be on front? I don't care, I've never been in front. We all rehearse the group for about an hour and after that we're dismissed.

​​"Okay, guys, go grab a drink." 

We all run outside, where the moms were all sitting.

"Never text and drive!"

We all start telling them what the group dance is about, and they even look terrified.

"And we're all like dying throughout the dance."

After that, Kenz and I go back inside to practice our duet. The next couple of days were a lot of rehearsals, and also the Candy Apples coming to town, more like to the same studio we were in.

•Competition Day•

"Look guys, don't even associate with Cathy, just turn around and walk away." Miss Abby tells us as we walk to the dressing room.

I start taking out all fo the costumes for today as Maddie makes fun of the Candy Apples and I chuckle. I sit down in front of the mirror as Mommy start styling my hair in pigtails. I also have a small purple bow on each one. I change into my duet costume, put my take jacket on and go watch Maddie, Kenzie, Brooke, and Chloe perform.

So . . . now's the time

"Whoo! Maddie!"- I cheer as she walks off stage.

Justice goes on stage.

"Shouldn't he wear a shirt?" Kendall asks.

"It's because of the makeup." Nia tells Kendall.

"Yeah but he's like . . . 8 or 9?"- I agree with Kendall.

A while after Kenzie was going on stage with the new dance that Cathy hates, I want to see her face.

Tastes so sweet from her head to her feet
No, that's something that can't be beat
No word of a lie, so don't even try
Ain't no honey sweeter than my honeybee
Can't you see?

I turn around and look at Cathy but she looks normal, but I know that she's internally screaming. 

Brooke is next and after is soon is Chloe.

I love only silence here
There is noise all the time
I love sunny landscapes
and I . . . love the sky

After that we rushed to the dressing room to get Kenzie ready for the duet. She literally was the same just that she had pink instead. We go backstage.

"I'm so excited!" Kenzie exclaims as we wait to go on stage.

"We have to win!" I tell her, "And after that, we're gonna be on top of the pyramid!"

"Yay!" The two of us cheer.

"Now welcome to the stage Mackenzie and Melanie with 'Fiesta'." The announcer says and we go on stage.

We all dance and everyone cheers as we walk off stage.

"Whoo!" We hear Maddie cheer, "They're my sisters!"

"That was amazing!" The two of us hug.

We notice Maddie walking up to us.

"Congratulations!" She hugs the two of us.

"It had to be a trio." Kenzie says.

"I think we'll have a trio someday." I tell her.

The three of us hold hands and go back to the dressing room, where everyone cheers when we arrive. We go and hug Mommy.

I go change for the group dance, for that I wear a white dress with yellow flowers, my hair is down and I have a yellow flower pin on my hair.

We go back to see the Candy Apple's group dance.

I didn't really understand it, they were dancing with an umbrella. I thought that it would take Cathy and fly away in a Mary Poppins style, but it wasn't that. We go back to the dressing room again and I put some yellow earrings on.

We all go backstage.

"Please welcome to the stage 'The Last Text'." The announcer says as we all go on stage and sit down.

This is how you show the world a booster seat that is not even yours.

We start dancing or pretending to text, it feels so good to have a phone, I think, 'cause I don't really have one. We crash and Kenzie starts dancing. Everyone does their own solos and then die except Maddie. I stand up and start dancing, I go to each one of the girls and shake them to see if they're alive.  First Nia, next Kenzie, Chloe, after that Brooke, next is Kendall. Finally, I stand beside Maddie as she pushes the booster seat and shakes Paige. When Paige pretends to be dead, Maddie takes my hand and we both run away together. We're the only survivors of the crash.

"And our first place, top scoring Energy Petite Soloist, goes to entry number 52A, Killer Bee, Mackenzie." The announcer says and we all start cheering, "Mackenzie is also our title winner for Miss Energy. So we would like to crown her now. Congratulations."

Kenzie sits back down and I hug her.

"Now we're moving to the Energy Teen Solo."

Fifth, fourth, third and second were already announced, so there's just one more chance, and I think Brooke's that first place.

"And our first place, Energy Teen Solo. Miss Energy being crowned for our 2012 national finals here in L.A--"

I don't like that we have to wait so long this. Like, just say the name!

"Goes to Brooke Hyland--" Everyone starts cheering, interrupting her.

All of us even screamed on that moment, another one! 

"Moving on to our Energy Junior Solo Division--"

She announces fifth and fourth place, and I notice, there are only three dancers left and three places left, the dancers are Chloe, Justice and Maddie.

"Third place goes to 'Never Surrender', Justice, from the Candy Apple Dance Center. Second place junior solo, which was very close, by fifth of a point, goes to 'Telling Myself', Maddie Ziegler, from the Abby Lee Dance Company."

Maddie goes receive her award.

"Our first place Energy junior solo for our nationals in Beverly Hills, also being crowned Miss Energy, goes to Chloe from the Abby Lee Dance Company."

Everyone start cheering and clapping as Chloe goes receive her award.

"Now we're going to the Energy duo/trio category--"

Kenzie and I hold hands.

"Second place goes to Sophia and Jake with 'Last Time', from the Academy of Dance. Now, our first place Energy duo/trio goes to Melanie and Mackenzie with 'Fiesta', from the Abby Lee Dance Company!"

The two of us stand up and go receive our award.

It was now time for the group awards.

"In third place, 'The Story', Eight Count Dance Academy. Second place goes to 'Troop Beverly Hills', Eight Count Dance Academy. And our top scoring national winner for the Energy Junior Small Group goes to entry number 130A, 'The Last Text'."

We all jump screaming and everyone starts cheering.

"From where did you learn this dance?"

I stand beside Kenzie, being the shortest two on the group and we yell into the microphone.

"ABBY LEE DANCE COMPANY!"

The eight of us start our way back to the dressing room after awards.

"I still can't believe we won!" Nia exclaims.

"Me neither!" Kendall agrees.

"Guys I have an Idea, what if we go to the CADC dressing room's front door and yell ALDC?"- Maddie suggests and we all stop walking.

"Yeah!" We all agree and run to the front of the CADC dressing room, "A-L-D-C. A-L-D-C. A-L-D-C. ALDC! ALDC! ALDC!"

We all run back to the dressing room and start cheering again.

"Girls, congratulations, everybody that danced a solo, you were outstanding. You beat Justice, Brooke, you beat all those girls that were two get taller, and their legs were up to here. And the group number, everybody did what they needed to do and everybody was an integral part of it and I thought it was wonderful. We did it."

I take my earrings off and Miss Abby leaves. Right after that, the moms start talking about Kelly leaving the studio and the show. I try to hold tears back, but I don't want them to leave! I start crying as I hug Brooke and she hugs me back. I do the same with Paige. They can't leave the team, they can't!
