The Runaway Mom

"Let's go, girls. Shake the lead out." Miss Abby tells us as we all enter Studio A, "Okay, now, Hollywood Vibe. Last week, you did an okay job. I thought it could have been better. Moving on, this week, we are going to Fire & Ice. Right here in Pittsburgh." We all clap and smile, "And I have a reputation to uphold. It's much more difficult to walk in and compete against people you know than a bunch of strangers. Okay, let's get to the pyramid."

"Finally." Kenzie whispers.

Miss Abby reveals the first headshot.

"I hate to do this, but, Kendall, you are back on probation."

My mouth opens in shock and I look over to Kendall.

"That's ridiculous, Abby. What more do you want from her?" Jill argues.

"Your head is distended. Your shoulders are hunched. Your rib cage is open." Miss Abby answers.

"Are you kidding me?! You're kidding me, right?!"

"No, she doesn't make the corrections. I have been telling her since the audition about her posture, and it has not improved once."

"I can't even believe it, you know what? You should be on probation, not my daughter. I don't even know why I'm here, you had nothing nice to say to her since the second we got here. You know what, Abby? She does a lot right."

"She turns like a top, but that's what's good. I don't need to fix that."

"There's a lot of studios out there who would love what she does right, and you know what, Abby? We are going to one of those studios."

No way.

The two Vertes leave Studio A and Kenzie looks at me shocked. I look at her with the same look and after that to Miss Abby.

"Next," She reveals the next headshot, "Melanie, you didn't do anything last week, just a couple weeks more and you'll be able to do more."

"Moving on to the group number, we are going to do a dance. It's called 'Head Over Heels'. It's about falling in love and getting married." Miss Abby announces.

I think Miss Abby finally found out Mommy's secret. Oh oh.

Kenzie raises her hand and puts her arm around me.

"Aren't we too young to get married?" She asks.

"You're gonna be dressed as brides." Miss Abby says, "So, I want your dads to be at the competition, as if they were giving their daughters away. All right, you're dismissed, thank you very much."

We were in the Dancer's Den and Miss Abby was helping Kenzie with a pose. I was sitting between Maddie and Chloe eating some nerds, sometimes giving them some.

"I hear about the engagement!"

I shot my head up and look at Miss Abby, who was grinning from ear to ear.

"So are you gonna be in the wedding? Think I'm gonna be in the wedding?"

I don't even know anything and now Miss Abby wants to know everything, hopefully she forgets.

"Chloe, work on your solo." Miss Abby tells Chloe.

"Okay." She replies.

"Maddie, same thing-- Work with your solo." Maddie nods.

I give Kenzie some nerds and I keep on eating.

"Can't believe you're not more excited about the wedding." Miss Abby comments as she start to walk away from us, "What do you think of the ring?"

"Beautiful." Maddie simply answers.

"I love the story." Chloe adds.

"What story?"

"What no, don't say it." Maddie tells Chloe as the two of them go to Studio B.

"Wait, what story?" Miss Abby asks as Kenzie leaves the Dancer's Den.

I try to leave but Miss Abby gets in my way.

"Tell me about the story." She tells me.

"Why would I know?" I shrug, "I never know about anything."

"You sure?"

What do I do?

I look up to her, and she's still smiling. I shove some nerds in my mouth and start coughing.

"I need water." I run out of the Dancer's Den up to Dance Jail.

I chuckle and sit down.

Mission succeeded.

Two Days To Competition

After the group dance rehearsal, Mommy decided to take me and my sisters dress shopping. Even though she doesn't plan on having a big wedding ceremony, she still wants some typical flower girl photos.

"What color are you gonna choose?" Maddie asks as Mommy drives.

"The ones you like." Mommy answers.

"Yay!" Kenzie exclaims.

We get soon to a store and go inside. There, Maddie runs off to check all of the dresses while Kenz and I stick with Mommy.

"Look at this one." Maddie runs back to us with a dress in hand.

"Ooh, that's cute." Mommy smiles.

"Can I try it on?" Maddie asks, with a huge smile in her face.

"Sure."

Maddie runs to the dressing room.

"What if we wore flower crowns?" Kenzie suggests, "They're cute."

"Where are those?" I ask and Kenzie runs off.

She comes back holding three white flower crowns.

"But they come with dresses." Kenzie says.

"Try them on." Mommy tells us and we go to the dressing room.

We change into our dresses and put the crowns on.

"Those are adorable." Mommy smiles.

"I love it!" Maddie exclaims, almost freaking out, causing Kenzie and I look at each other confused.

"Can we get them?" I ask.

"Of course!"

Competition Day

After a lot of convincing and puppy eyes, I convinced Miss Abby of pushing Broadway Baby's stroller. We get to the competition under the horribly freezing weather, and we all enter the dressing room. Miss Abby starts talking like always as I change into my costume. Mommy brushes my hair and does my makeup. I put some baby pink lipstick on my lips. Kenzie and I start doing a mini cartwheel competition while the girls leave.

"Kenz, Mel, let's go." Mommy calls us and we both follow her.

We all sit in the audience and watch Nia and Kendall perform. Turns out Kendall's with Cathy now. After that, we all go back to the dressing room.

"Oh my goodness, all the single girls!"

Mommy throws one of the prop bouquet flowers and it fall towards Chloe, who fights Paige for it but Paige ended up winning. I take the prop out of her hand and run away from her.

"You're too young to get married." Paige runs after me.

"You're too." I laugh and we leave the dressing room.

"Girls, we're going backstage." We hear Miss Abby say and we follow them.

We all go backstage, ready to go in.

"From the Abby Lee Dance Company, please welcome to the stage number 201, junior group, this is 'Head Over Heels'." The Announcer says and the music starts.

Treat me kind
But really as long as you keep me
I don't mind
As long as you don't have to leave me

I won't make a fuss
Just as long as it's us
I don't care what they say
They can say what they want
But they say a lot, boy, believe me
'Cause you ain't exactly Prince Charming
When you hear the bell, it's alarming
For worse or for better

Yes, I'm head over heels
Big time for real
Ooh, baby
I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you
Oh, don't say that I'm out of my mind
I'm crazy
I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you

"In our junior small groups, we have a first place overall award--" The announcer says, "And that is going to number 288, 'Head Over Heels."

We all go receive the award and we sit down after that.

Solos are announced and Nia sadly doesn't place, but Kendall's first with Gia's choreography, so Cathy stole the dance.

Or the show.
