"We are here in Los Angeles, California, for Nationals. Hollywood, Burbank. Everything is here. I have a lot of stuff to do, we have some exciting things happening with some of our members. It's busy."

We're on a studio on LA this week to attend Nationals, we were all in pyramid and suddenly the select team comes in.

"Gang's all here." Jill says, trying to light up the mood.

"Well, not all of 'em." Christi adds and I notice that Jeanette and Ava aren't here.

"So, you didn't wait to get called in. You just tomped in here." Abby says and I hear some chuckles.

"They don't follow the rules like we do." Mom says and Holly nods.

"No, you guys are perfect, I guess. I don't know. Sorry for interrupting, Abby." Christy says.

"Abby, what is the purpose of the select team right now?" Holly asks Abby.

Good question.

"To dance, to win. I am in it to win it. Absolutely. It's all about the win." Abby tells everyone.

"These kids have won three Nationals in a row." Jill says.

"I think the winds are changing." Christy says and we all look at her.

Excuse me? Do you think you can actually beat us? Think again.

"This team has never lost at Nationals. You've beaten this team. All right, let's get to pyramid. Chloe, you didn't dance, obviously, last week. But I hope you enjoyed the show."

"Abby, I wanted to let you know that we had a doctor's appointment yesterday morning. And I talked to the orthopedist and she cleared her dance, so she's good." Christi says.

"Fine. Next we have Mackenzie. In the show, sometimes you were amazing, sometimes you were 'silly'. Next, Nia. It was good, it was strong, but it wasn't what I just saw the week before. You didn't live up to that expectation. Next, we have Kendall. Kendall, it was your confidence, your ability to get up and relevé, to be properly placed in the turn, to keep your shoulders down and nail it."

Then Abby reveals the next headshot, that was Kamryn, from the select team, again. 

"What I like about your dancing-- You knew where I was, and you found me. Next, Maddie. She didn't have to dance, she proved herself in every number in that concert. On top, is Melanie. We go back to three weeks ago, when you beat 'Tea, Kenzie, Ava, and Miss Maddie. You were in the wrong age division, but you took advantage of it. Again, I know that was weeks ago, but after that you didn't dance with us until the Dance Concert, that's why you're on top, you also proved yourself dance after dance last week, it was amazing."

I try to hide my smile, but it's just hard!

"On Thursday morning, Maddie, Mack Z, Melanie, and the rest of the Abby Lee Dance Company junior elite team here will be doing a personal appearance inside the Hollywood and Highland complex. And you will all be there, understood?"

We all clap and smile.

"We will be attending In10sity Dance Competition for Nationals. I have two groups routines planned. Some people will be dancing twice. The junior elite team will be performing a contemporary lyrical piece entitled 'Amber Alert'. The select team will be performing a routine called 'Hollywood Stars'."

Our group routine sounds interesting, I hope there's some acting in it!

"After much consideration, I have narrowed it down to three soloists. The first solo is going to Kendall. You're doing doing a jazz solo, and the title aptly is 'My Name in Lights'. The next solo we have if the foot holds up, Chloe, there's no reason why you can't do a solo at Nationals. Chloe, you have a contemporary solo. It's called 'Soaring'. Maddie, I'm gonna tell you right here in front of everyone. I don't think you're doing a solo at Nationals. You're at Jimmy Kimmel today. You're at Jimmy Kimmel, all day tomorrow. That gives us one day to do a solo before Nationals."

"I would love to do a solo, I don't care if I have to learn it in one day." Maddie says.

"She doesn't have to be there till 2:00 tomorrow." Mom adds 

"I don't want you to throw you out on that stage not being your best, Maddie. You are not doing a solo at Nationals." Abby tells Maddie.

Ouch. That really hurt for them. 

"And the last solo will be going to Kamryn. Kamryn, your solo routine is contemporary. It is aptly titled 'This Is The Start'."

"Keep in mind, Abby, that she is the only person on this team who's never done a solo at Nationals. And Nia's been here since she was three." Holly says.

"Go somewhere else." Abby answers.

Abby and Holly start arguing and after a couple minutes we continue. 

"Before Maddie leaves. I have a duet, it is a lyrical routine called 'We Remain'. And this is a reward for Melanie for beating Maddie, because I already have my soloists. I want Melanie to do the duet with Maddie." Abby says and Maddie and I hug, "But, if Maddie can't work with it, it would be Melanie and Scarlett, Scarlett will be Maddie's understudy."

After that Maddie and Mom leave to Jimmy Kimmel and pyramid still isn't over.

"Next season, it won't be the select team against the elite team. Because I will be opening a studio in Los Angeles, California. It's very important that we have a good showing at the competition."

"Abby, um, there's a huge box out here that was just delivered here with your name on it?" Gianna says and some people bring in the box, a big, ugly red box with the words 'Bite Me, Cathy' written on it, a Candy Apples box.

•Three Days To Competition•

"That's the thing, she is kidnapping you. She took you. She stole you, she abducted you. And she keeps trying to get you in this chair." Abby tells me and I nod, "You're locking her in that chair. You guys are putting a--"

I sit down on the chair and Abby suddenly covers my mouth, my eyes wide in shock.

"We're-- She's here, right? She's gagged. All right, ready. And try to move yourself. Try to get out of it. Get out, fight. Your feet-- kick." Abby says and I keep pretending to fight my way out of the chair, also trying not to laugh, "Come on, get out, get out. Right."

We continue practicing the dance. It is about a little girl who is kidnapped from her family, and I'm playing the little girl because: One, I'm the youngest of all. Two, I'm the official actress of the group, heh. And three, I get the lead because I'm on the top of the pyramid this week.

The days pass by, and it's obviously all about practicing the group number. Right now, Maddie was at the studio so we were going to finally practice our duet.

"On the music for the dance it clearly says 'Yes I'm a sinner, yes I'm a saint'. So Maddie, you'll be playing the saint and Melanie, you'll be playing the sinner. This dance is pretty easy for both of you, but it is still nationals material."

We start dancing and do a fan kick when the door suddenly opens and Cathy comes in.

"Ooh, nice feet." Cathy says and Maddie and I stop dancing.

"Is that a compliment?" I whisper crossing my arms.

"How is she even here?" Maddie whispers back.

"Probably the producers called her for more drama." I whisper.

"So I'm hand-delivering my gift since you wouldn't open it. Why wouldn't you open it?" Cathy asks placing the 'gift', a black chandelier with some fake apples on it, beside Abby, who takes out a banana and starts eating it, "Oh, just what you need, Abby, a banana. Go to town, monkey."

Maddie and I start smiling, trying to hold our laughter in, and continue watching them.

"Listen, there's a street up the road called Chandelier. You taking credit for that also? I don't see you up trying to do things with them, as you're constantly taking credit." Cathy says and Abby just nods, "And you know what? Continue to ignore me as you stuff your face, but guess what-- I'm very relevant. And guess what? You do nothing and take credit for everything. And, oh, my God, that yellow bracelet is horrendous."

Then she walks towards us and puts her hand on my shoulder.

"Good luck this week, both of you." Cathy says and then leaves, Abby sighs when the door closes.

"Let's just get back to practice." She says.

After rehearsal we practice the group dance and then we leave, today I get to be shotgun.

"This is only for today." Mom says as I put my seat belt on.

"I'm supposed to be there instead." Maddie says.

"Uh huh, of course." Kenzie says and laughs.

Mom then starts driving and I turn on the radio, the song that was on was coincidentally, 'Chandelier' by Sia. 

"That song sounds good, never heard it before." Maddie says and we laugh.

"Anyways, who was in rehearsal when Cathy came in?" Mom asks and I turn down the volume.

"Mads and I were rehearsing our duet." I say.

"And Cathy was so desperate for attention." Maddie adds, "It was really funny."

I laugh and look at the beautiful city we are in. Mom turns up the volume on the radio and the music continues. We arrive to the hotel and I go take a shower. After that I change into my pajamas and sit on the bed I share with Kenz. I turn on the TV and start watching 'Jessie'.

After watching the episode I start playing on my phone and then I hear the door open.

"Do you wanna play truth or dare?" Kenzie asks sitting on the bed.

"Sure!" I exclaim.

"I'll start, Kenzie truth or dare?" Maddie asks sitting on the bed too.

"Uhm, truth." Kenzie says and Maddie makes an evil smile. 

"Do you like Alex?" Maddie asks.

"No, how many times have I told you?" Kenzie asks and Maddie laughs.

"Sorry. Melanie, truth or dare?" Maddie asks turning to me, "Don't think so much about it, just say something."

"Truth." I answer.

"Good, have you ever rolled your eyes at Abby?" Maddie asks and they both look at me.

"Maybe..? Yeah, I've done it. A couple times." I say.

"Baddie." Kenzie says, "Mads, truth or dare?"

"Truth." Maddie answers.

"Did you actually tell Chloe that she wasn't that good of a dancer?" Kenzie asks and I look at Maddie.

"When did that happen?" I ask.

"That was a couple months ago, but it wasn't like I told her, Chloe you suck, the Lukasiaks just keep on blaming me for everything I do. Chloe is an amazing dancer, and I wouldn't tell her something like that." Maddie answers and I hug her.

"This year has been hard." I say and we pull away, "Kenz, truth or dare?"

"Truth again." Kenzie answers.

"How did you really feel doing Maddie's 'Cry' solo?" I ask and she sighs.

"Bad, like I just wanted to show Abby that I could just be Mackenzie, I didn't have to be Maddie to be first place, guess that didn't work out and I'm just Maddie's little sister."

"Don't say that! You are Mackenzie and that's good enough, you don't have to be me you can be yourself, you can win on your own." Maddie says, "Sadly Abby doesn't understand that."

"Melanie, truth or dare?" Kenzie asks.

"Dare." I answer.

"I dare you to take Mom's phone and call Jill, and pretend you are Mom for at least a minute and a half." Kenzie tells me.

"I can't do that!" I complain.

"You said dare so you're up for everything." Kenzie says.

I stand up and go take Mom's phone. I look for contacts and then Jill's photo pops up. I press it and it starts ringing.

"Hello?" Jill says from the other line.

I put it on speaker and try to sound like Mom.

"Hi Jill, just wanted to check in." I say and Kenzie covers her mouth. 

"Just to check in?"

"Yeah, just wanted to know if everything's in order."

"I'm honestly confused"

"I am too." Maddie whispers and keeps laughing.

"Oh I gotta go, talk to you later." I say.

"Uhm... Bye?"

Then I hang up and we burst out laughing.

"Maddie, truth or dare?" I ask.

"Dare!" She exclaims.

"I dare you to switch phones with Kenzie for a day." I say and they both look at me.

"No!" They say.

"Nuh uh uh, like Kenzie said, you said dare so you're up for everything, and Kenzie is the next one anyways." I say and they switch phones, "Perfect."

"This is going to be hard." Kenzie says.

"Girls where is my phone?" Mom asks walking towards us and then notices the phone on the bed besides me, "Did I leave it there?"

"Yeah, don't you remember?" Kenzie asks and we look at her, "No you didn't."

"Weird." Mom says, "Well it's pretty late and remember that tomorrow we're going to the Hollywood and Highland complex."

"Oh yeah, forgot about that." Maddie says and stands up, "Then I'm going to sleep."

"Typical. Goodnight everyone." I say and go to sleep.

I wake up and go brush my teeth, I change into my outfit and Maddie styles my hair into a high ponytail.

Then breakfast comes in, and I eat some pancakes, bacon and get some orange juice.

"We're late!" I suddenly hear Mom say and I look at Maddie, who was sitting beside me, confused.

"What do you mean?" Maddie asks and Mom comes in.

"We're like ten minutes late, everyone is waiting for us." Mom says, "Kenzie let's go!"

"I'm almost finished!" I hear Kenzie yell and I stand up.

We take our stuff and then leave. We meet up with the rest.

"Melissa for what did you call me yesterday?" Jill asks.

"When?" Mom asks.

"Last night." Jill answers and Mom looks at us.

"I'm gonna go talk with the other girls." I say trying not to laugh and walk away.

"Me too." Maddie says.

"Me three." Kenzie says and they both follow me.

"Oh, yeah. We got the ALDC up in the house." E-Baby says and Abby goes onstage, no she's not doing a solo.

"Hello, how are you? I see you all met my dear friend E-Baby." Abby says as everyone cheers and I sit down on a table with Chloe, Nia, Kendall and Kenzie, "E-Baby, thank you for coming today. The Abby Lee Dance Company is in town for our national finals. We're here today having this personal appearance because tonight, Maddie is on​​​​​ Jimmy Kimmel Live! with Sia. Don't miss that."

We're sitting on this order from left to right, Maddie, Chloe, Nia, me, Kenzie and Kendall.  

"And I have one more plug to get in. This fall, the ALDC LA will be opening. And right here in front of everybody, I'm gonna ask E-Baby to come and teach hip-hop at my studio. Deal? Sounds good."

We all cheer and go near the stage. Some hip-hopers start dancing and. They. Were. Amazing. They finish dancing and everything goes silent. I notice Abby holding a microphone and looking up, so I look to where she was looking, and she was looking at Cathy and her team, I mean, Cathy and her new bunch of dancers, but they were almost all the same this time.

"All right, it looks like we have some potential dancers out there in the audience." E-Baby says as Cathy and her team come down to where everyone else was, "Who is this right over here? Which group is this?"

Kenzie walks up to him and whispers something into his ear.

"The Rotten Apples? Come up on here, Cathy." E-Baby says as Cathy goes on stage and takes a microphone.

"Where's my good buddy Abby?" Cathy asks.

"Looks like Abby no part of you, Cathy." E-Baby says as Abby walks away.

"Oh, Abby, come out and play!" Cathy sings and I cringe, that's really creepy, "We want to challenge the ALDC dancers."

"You guys ready for a dance-off? Let's have ALDC, you guys go to your side. You guys go to your side, make some noise out there!" E-Baby says, "All of these dancers are here for Nationals, but first you've got to prove you can win on the street. This is where dreams are made. Are you guys are ready for a dance battle?"

"We've got to win!" Kamryn exclaims.

"Of course!" Nia says. 

Chloe then goes in and starts freestyling/doing some improv and a CADC boy goes up against her. Then she leaves and Maddie goes in and Evan goes too. It continues like that for a while.

"Okay, bring me Melanie." E-Baby says and another boy and I go on stage. 

I do a front and then do some leg hold turns I learnt that a couple days ago, so this is my first time doing them in public. The boy tries to do some turns, bobbling them, and then out of frustration, he pushes me and I fall on my back.

"Stop, you're out!" I hear E-Baby say and I open my eyes.

"You okay?" I hear Kenzie say and I look over to her, who was kneeling down beside me.

"Yeah, it was just a little push." I say and E-Baby and Kenzie help me stand up.

"Wow Cathy, what you teach your students." We hear Christi say.

Cathy rolls her eyes and I laugh.

"I'll continue, give me another one." I smile and E-Baby nods. 

"Okay, give me Alyssa." He says and Alyssa comes in.

We both do some improv and then leave, that was fun.

"We have our three finalists. It's gonna be Nia and Melanie for the ALDC, and representing the Candy Apples, McKenzie." E-Baby says and I high-five Nia, "Let's start off with Nia and McKenzie."

Nia and McKenzie go on stage and start their dance off. We cheer and then Nia finished.

"Nia, step out. Melanie, you're up."- E-Baby says and I go onstage.

I go and start off. I do some sassy faces as I continue and end with once again some leg hold turns

"When I call each dancer's name, let us know what you thought. Whoever gets the loudest cheer is the champion. Make some noise Nia!" E-Baby exclaims and everyone cheers loudly, "Make some noise for Melanie!"

Everyone cheers a bit louder.

"Make some noise for McKenzie." E-Baby says and everyone cheers the same, "There's a tie, we have two winners, Melanie and McKenzie!"

Everyone cheers and McKenzie and I high five. 

"Now it's the time for the groups to battle, ALDC versus Candy Apples. Here we go, let's give the kids a hand! Come on! Make some noise for 'em! ALDC's up first. Uh oh. Here they come."

We start doing our group dance improv and the CADC start doing theirs too.

"ALDC! ALDC! ALDC! ALDC!"

"Here we go by applause, Candy Apple Dance Crew!" E-Baby exclaims and just a few people cheer, the loudest cheer was from McKenzie, "ALDC!"

Everyone cheers for us, and it was REALLY loud. 

"ALDC wins the group."

"We have to run because this tram is really busy. Don't forget tonight Jimmy Kimmel, Maddie Ziegler and Sia. Watch TV! Thank you very much!" Abby exclaims. 

All of us girls then put our hands together.

"One, two, three, ALDC!" We all exclaim and raise our hands.

After that we go back to the hotel and get ready for tonight, and I think that thanks to Abby everyone knows what's up. I change into a dress, slip into my shoes and Mom styles my hair.

"So Abby's meeting us there and I hope we can go out to eat dinner after that." Kenzie says as Mom sprays my hair.

"I don't know what hour it will be when it is over, Kenz, so I ordered a pizza just in case." Mom says and applies some lip gloss to my lips.

"So we're eating pizza now?" Kenz asks and Mom nods, "Yay!"

"Pizza's here!" We all hear Maddie say and we go to where she was.

We all take a slice and eat and then we all go to the Jimmy Kimmel Live! There's actually some papparazis there and they were kind of annoying, only because I don't think they should just go around taking random pictures of people, that's probably what I get for being on LA. We get inside, we get to meet Jimmy and also we talked with Sia, and then we met up with Abby. Everything was amazing, except that it was pretty late when it was over and we couldn't go out to eat.

•One Day To Competition•

"This is it. All the work that you have put in up until this point has prepared you for Nationals. All right, group routines. We have 'Amber Alert'. I'm nervous about it. It's about a little girl being kidnapped, and it's just chilling. Just the title should get the audience's attention. Isn't it haunting? It's chilling. You get it on your phone. Your routine is not chilling. Your routine is a hot mess right now."

Doesn't Abby love us so much? Yeah I'm being sarcastic.

"'Hollywood Stars'. You need to be flawless. Your first national competition with the ALDC could be your last. If your group wins, then, I'm sure we have a future together. If not, it was good while it lasted."

Then she starts babbling something about the soloists and then I hear the word 'duet',  then I give it all of my attention.

"The duet. I have made the decision of letting Melanie and--" Abby says and makes some suspense like always, "Maddie do the duet together, now Maddie's available, and I preferred her dancing on it to Scarlett's. Also about the solo--"

Then I ignore her again, Maddie's probably going to do a solo after all, and I know Maddie wants to do a solo, but she literally has had a solo on every single Nationals until now, let others have a chance. Rehearsal was normal, not so good, but not so bad.

•Nationals•

"Let's gooooo!" I hear Kenzie yell and I open my eyes, "Nationals!"

"You do that every year." I say and cover my head with a pillow.

"Get ready!" I hear Mom say.

"Okay I'm up." I say getting out of bed.

I go to the bathroom and do everything, I change my clothes and put the ALDC jacket. I style my hair into a bun. We eat breakfast and finally leave.

When we arrive to the competition place everyone there is holding up a fake apple, Caaaaathy!

"What is this-- is this like, a cult?" Abby asks as we walk inside.

We enter the dressing room and I change it my duet's costume. Maddie's is obviously the same but white instead. Mom does my makeup and hair. Again, Maddie's makeup is the same but with pink lipstick instead. 

"I think they're doing 'Chandelier'. Kendall said she heard the music walking by their door." Jill says.

"In the program book it says they're doing 'Chandelier'." Mom adds.

"Oh my God, I'm gonna get sick to my stomach." Abby says as Maddie and I start rehearsing our duet.

Abby and Mom then leave the room and soon we can hear their argument with Cathy on the dressing room next door. 

Then Abby calls Maddie outside and I, once again being the little sister I am, decide to hear their conversation, but by the point I arrive to the door, it was kind of late.

"I'll have to say no." Maddie says.

I go put my team jacket on as they come back into the dressing room. We all leave and go backstage, soon is time for duets.

"Next up, this is entry number 29, 'We Remain'." The announcer says and Maddie and I go on stage.

We finish our routine holding hands and we leave the stage as everyone cheers and claps. We go back to the dressing room and start getting ready for the group dance.

I put on a shirt, an overall 'dress'. The shoes, a necklace and my hair. We all go backstage.

"Good luck." I say as soon as we arrive, to both the select team and the CADC team.

"Thanks, you too." McKenzie says.

So I knew their group dance was 'Chandelier', but why are they dressed up as aliens? Weird.

"In the junior small group division, in the contemporary division, this is number 65, 'Chandelier'." The announcer says and the CADC team go on stage.

One, two, three, one, two, three, drink. Throw 'em back till I lose count. I'm gonna swing from the Chandelier, from the Chandelier. 

I prefer Maddie's version. 

"Continuing on with the competition is 'Amber Alert'." The announcer says and we go on stage.

The music starts and they all start dancing. I have a mini part with Chloe then I hold hands with Maddie when I'm taken away/kidnapped by Nia. They continue dancing as Nia and I have a part with the chair,  where she traps me in. There my necklace falls for a clue. Maddie takes it and the rest except Kenzie take me away, almost offstage. There they 'kill' me, and Maddie hugs me. She tries to wake me up but then notices that it's too late. She's terrified, so she just runs offstage. Finally, Sarah R takes Kenzie and Kenzie fights back, trying not to get taken away, but fails, so she screams. Everyone start cheering as I'm taken offstage on the chair by Kendall. 

"That was perfect!" Chloe exclaims and hugs me.

We all have a group hug and go onstage for awards.

"Our top ten high scoring solos of the entire competition. Your tenth highest solo, Rachel, with act number 12. In ninth place, join me to congratulate Miss Kendall, with act number 28, 'My Name In The Lights'."

Kendall goes receive her award, we still got Chloe and Kamryn. 

"In sixth place, Miss Kamryn with act number 26, 'This Is The Start'. In fifth place, join me on congratulating Miss Chloe with act number 29, 'Soaring'."

They both go receive their awards and then at back down.

"Top three duet/trios. In third place is act number 27, these are Kylie and Bella with 'Together'. In second place is act number 18, Gaby and Hannah with 'Life'. And in first place, highest scoring duet/trio is act number 29, these are Melanie and Maddie with 'We Remain' from the Abby Lee Dance Company."

Everyone cheers as we stand up and go receive our award, it was really fun dancing with Maddie tbh. We sit back down and wait for group awards.

"Fifth place highest scoring group routine, act number 65, 'Chandelier' from Candy Apples Dance Center."

They go receive their awards and we just wait.

"In second place, join me on congratulating act number 61, 'Hollywood Stars'.  The top spot, ladies and gentlemen, with a score of 286 points, your national champion is act number 63, 'Amber Alert' from the Abby Lee Dance Company."

We all go receive the awards and even confetti falls. Then we go backstage and continue celebrating. I go hug Chloe again when I suddenly hear one of the worst things I've ever heard.

"Go fix her eye first!"

I quickly hug Chloe, she heard it too... She starts crying and I try to calm her down.

Christi comes in and hugs Chloe.

"You okay?"

"I heard Abby."

That broke everything. They take their stuff and leave, but I follow them outside, so did the cameras.

"I'm so sorry." I start crying, "Abby really crossed the line, and I wish you guys didn't have to leave, but you deserve better."

Christi then hugs me.

"I know, and I'm so sorry too, I've made you feel bad a couple times and I feel really bad." Christi says and we pull away, "Bye."

"Goodbye." Chloe says and they both walk away.

Tears were all over my face, and the camera crew seemed to enjoy that.
