Versus

Season 4, episode 3.

Words: 3,3K

"Sure, Jay's cute and funny, and I'm always laughing around him, but everything's about him, and he never takes me seriously. More light, please." Nya ordered Wu, with her working on the bounty.

Wu wakes up and turns the flashlight on. "Right. He never takes you seriously."

"Then there's Cole. He's handsome, and I suppose I connect with him on a deeper level, but everything's so serious with him, you know what I mean? And Y/n.. I don't know. She and Cole looked really happy together. I kinda feel like I ruining it. But she and Kai look happy together too. Wait- Y/n and Kai? That's not gonna happen, even though the console said they'd belong together... Socket wrench."

Sensei hands her needle nose pliers, "Young emotions are...complicated."

"Sensei, these are needle nose pliers. I asked for a socket wrench. And could you at least try to impart some wisdom?" Nya sighed.

"Wait, so Edna and Ed aren't my real parents?" Y/n asked Morro, who had been explaining a bit about her life. She was laying on her bed, talking to Morro the past hours. Which was probably pretty stupid to do, because today the first rounds of the tournament were about to begin.

"Your mother was the master of storm, and no they're not. Do you think Edna could fight?"

"Are me and Jay real siblings then?"

"Yes, you're real twins."

"And- Can you explain again please? I don't really get it."

"So, your mother was the master of storm. When she was pregnant, the past master of wind, me, died. So did the past master of lightning. When you and Jay were born, her powers could get divided. she knew it would give you two wind and lightning. And the powers did divide. Resulting in you getting wind, your brother lightning."

"It's still not really clear to me- But I think I get it. My real mother was the master of storm. So, you and me are not related, Jay and me are. Edna and Ed are my adopted parents and Jay can't know. The elemental power storm has extinct, but saved wind and lightning. My mother's dead. My father we don't know who it is."

"And your mother was a friend of master Wu, that's why he knew about you two."

"And why are you in my head again?"

"I don't know. The most logic reason I can think of is because we're both the master of wind."

"But you're dead?"

"I wish I could shrug in your head. But I can't. So I don't know."

"Can you come back to the real world? I wanna know what you look like."

"Only when someone opens a portal to the Cursed realm, I could escape. But no one does that."

Y/n hummed in response, noticing the time.

"Crap! I gotta go." She said, knowing Morro would 'come' with her anyway. She changed into her tournament gi and ran out of the door, towards the place they would meet up.

"Next!" The anacondrai cultist called out, making Garmadon step to him, motioning to the plate he has in his hands.

"Nu-uh. Nothing for you." The cultist folded his arms, making Garmadon sigh.

"There's a valuable lesson here, son. If you turn your back on your first sensei in an effort to go straight..." Garmadon said, turning to the green ninja.

"Next!" He repeated, annoyed.

"...you may not be served creamy biscuits." Garmadon finished, turning around and sitting in a booth.

"Well, I know what we are being served. A whole bunch of baloney. This isn't a fighting tournament. It's an alibi for Chen to steal everyone's powers. But we still don't know why." Lloyd scowled, turned to the red ninja.

"Isn't it obvious? Chen wants to destroy New Ninjago City. I don't know what it is, but that place has had a string of bad luck." Kai replied, getting his biscuits.

"I'm not so sure. From what Sensei G's told us about him, I have a feeling it's something far more sinister." Cole interrupted, turned to Y/n and Jay.

"And may I remind us, we still don't know where Zane is, which is why we all need to take care of our first rounds to give us more time." Jay said, with Cole looking at him like he's crazy. "Don't look at me. I've already moved on."

"Your opponent got himself kicked out." Y/n rolled her eyes, being served the creamy biscuits.

"Hehe, either way, it's my day off." The blue ninja turned to the cultist. "Extra creamy biscuits. And don't skimp." He said, getting a lot of biscuits and walking away from the line with Cole and Y/n.

"Taking a day off? And here I thought Ninja never quit." Cole retorted, annoyed.

"And I used to think a Ninja wouldn't steal your girlfriend. Or break your sister's heart." Jay replied, earning an annoyed sigh from his sister.

"Jay, we talked about this. I don't care about it anymore."

"But I do-"

"Whatever you have to say to each other, say it now, because harboring grudges hurts no one but yourselves." Garmadon interrupted, making the two fighting ninja glare at each other.

"He's right. You should be preparing to fight your next opponent, not each other." Lloyd agreed.

"What grudge? I already dropped it." Cole growled.

"I dropped it first." Jay replied.

"Did not."

"Did too." They continue arguing, with Jay dropping his biscuits and drink while bickering.

"The tournament will test them, Lloyd. Either find a way for them to make peace, or neither of them will move on." Garmadon told his son.

Chen, on an intercom, starts announcing the fights of the day. "The tournament of Elements continues. Fun time! Would the following Masters please make their way to their assign arena? Wind, Gravity, Smoke, nature, mind.. Oh, and last and hopefully not least...fire...!" Kai and Y/n gasp. "Remember, only one can remain."

"Great. Well, good luck Kai." Y/n said, turning around to go to her arena.

"Good luck to you too!" Kai waved slightly, turning to his friends.

"Kai, that was really out of character." Jay scowled, with folded arms.

"Uhh, sorry?"

The first fight of the tournament and today, consisting of Y/n and Gravis. The elemental masters get into their seats, two of them standing in the arena with a big blossom tree, holding the jadeblade.

"Y/n, Master of Wind, versus Gravis, Master of Gravity. Fight!" Chen declared, making the two masters make their way to the jadeblade. Y/n went to fly to it, so did Gravis. The master of wind used her powers to make Gravis fly back, while making her way to the blade.

The elemental masters who were watching cheered, with Jay being the loudest.

"Come on, come on, come on..." He kept repeating, annoying his teammates. "You got this, sis."

Y/n landed on a branch, making a tornado surround her. She fired it at Gravis, who got stuck in it. He made some of the flowers of the tree fly towards her, while being in the tornado, not able to move, only using his brain. The purple ninja groaned, distracted by the flowers. In the meanwhile, Gravis got out of the tornado. He went to poke flowers on her face, annoying her.

Y/n sends a gust of wind towards Gravis. He tried to dodge it, but got flown back a bit anyway. Y/n took a quick glance at the ninja in the audience, smiling. The master of gravity flew towards her, while she stood on a branch. He tried to kick Y/n, but she dodged it with her hand. She tried to punch him in the face, but Gravis made her fly away now.

"Make him fly."

"Why do you think that'll help? He's the master of gravity for a reason." Y/n breathed out, making her way to the jadeblade.

"Just do it." He mentally rolled his eyes.

Y/n used her powers to make him hanging in the air. He wasn't able to move at all, giving the purple ninja a free ticket to the jadeblade. She flew to it and snatched it from it's place. The master of wind jumped down, holding the jadeblade.

"Winner." Chen said, looking at Y/n, "Loser." He stated, looking at Gravis, who sighed. Chen pushed on a button, opening a trapdoor for the master of gravity. He laughed when he didn't fall in, making Chen angrily pushing the other buttons. Eventually he pushed a button which made a sandsack fall on Gravis.

"Whoa. How many buttons does that man have?" Turner asked, surpised.

"Master of Wind move on." Chen announced, moving Y/n's picture a place and destroying Gravis'.

"There you go. Told you it would work. And it was fast." Morro said.

"I felt like I was controlling someone. It doesn't feel fun."

"You're to the next round, you should be happy."

"I am. Don't worry." She smiled, looking at her cheering friends.

The next fight was Bolobo versus Neuro. Everyone was in their arena, ready for the fight.

"Neuro, Master of Mind, versus Bolobo, Master of Nature. Fight." Chen announced, and the two of them immediately fight. Neuro uses his mind powers on the master of nature, knowing his next move. Bolobo did it, and the master of mind dodged the veins easily.

"They call this a fight?" Lloyd asked.

"Wait for it." Garmadon reassured.

Their fight continued, with Neuro winning in the end.

The last fight announced so far, was Kai against Ash. They were in a volcano arena, with Kai on the right side and Ash on the left. "Kai, Master of Fire, versus Ash, Master of Smoke. Fight!" Chen declared, and the red ninja ran towards the jadeblade, which was laying in the middle of a bridge, immediately.

Ash made the brigde shake, and the jadeblade fall on a rock beneath them. Kai hung onto the bridge with one hand, as Ash was still on top of it. The master of fire jumped through the wooden bridge, just as the master of smoke was above him. Ash made himself of smoke when Kai kicked him, dodging the fire ninja's attack. He smirked as his opponent was in front of him.

Ash threw a smoke ball at the red ninja, who dodged his attack. They then went hand to hand combat, with the master of smoke throwing Kai through the bridge. Kai was now hanging onto the bridge with one hand, and looked down, seeing the boiling lava.

The elemental masters, except the ninja, cheered. Kai eventually got back on the bridge by using spinjitzu. The master of fire kept firing fire balls at Ash, but he dodged them.

Kai accidentally broke the bridge, making them fall onto the rocks beneath them. They fought hand to hand for a few more moments until Kai jumped towards Ash. The master of smoke made himself disappear, giving Kai a chance to grab the jadeblade. He caught it, holding it up in triumph.

"Winner! Loser! Master of Fire moves on." Chen clapped, and the ninja cheered the loudest of them all.

A crowd was chatting around the brackets, and the ninja walk to it suspicious.

"What's all the commotion?" Jay asked, pushing his way to the board. The ninja gasp when they see Cole and Jay on the same bracket.

"No, he can't do this." Cole said, glaring at the blue ninja.

"He already did." Lloyd sighed, looking at his father for help. Garmadon replied with a look, saying 'can't change it.'

"We gotta fight each other." The earth ninja sighed as well.

"But why does it say I have to fight Cole? It didn't say that before. I'm not ready to fight. It was supposed to be my day off." Jay retorted.

"I tried to warn you, but you never listen. Talk, yes. Listen, not so much." Cole replied, annoyed.

"Is there a problem, Ninja?" Clouse walked up to them, making the other elemental masters back away.

"You cheated! You changed the brackets." The master of earth yelled.

"Oopsie." Clouse laughs and walks away.

"What do we do? They can't fight each other. We came here to become whole, not fall further apart." Lloyd looked at the ground, needing advise.

"You can't undo what's been done. My only advice is to be at peace with it." Garmadon said, making the ninja gasp again.

"Peace? One of us has to lose! Oh, my gosh. It's totally gonna be me. He's got super strength and what do I have? Quick, tell me! What do I have!?" Jay screamed.

"A sense of humor." Y/n answered, putting a hand on her brother's shoulder.

"Don't listen to my dad. We find Zane then none of us have to battle. Your fight isn't until tonight so we still have time to figure out what Chen's up to and stop this." The green ninja glared at his father.

"I think I know just the person who can help. And I think he already knows." Kai said, nodding towards Neuro.

At nighttime, the ninja make their way to the master of mind. "We need your help, Neuro." Y/n said, with the boys behind her.

"You think I can get close to Chen to read his mind, so you can find your robotic friend and not have to fight." Neuro answered, without turning around and facing them.

"Don't forget-" Kai got cut off.

"You still need to know what Chen's up to because he's hiding something."

"That's really impressive, Nerdo." Jay chuckled, but Neuro turned around and glared at him.

"It's Neuro, Master of the Mind. And Cole thinks Jay won't last long in a fight."

"Pfft. You think that?" Jay nudged Cole, annoyed.

"You just said it yourself." The master of earth snickered.

"But you didn't have to believe it."

"Don't be offended, Cole. Jay here thinks you're the least valuable Ninja." Neuro stated, making the two glare at each other again.

"You don't say." The black ninja said, before pushing Jay. Jay pushed back, and they get into one of those childish fights.

Lloyd broke the two apart, but behind him they continued. "We wanted you to help, Neuro, not make things worse."

"But why would I help? You're competition. The sooner you're out, the better for me."

Behind Lloyd, Jay and Cole were still fighting. Cole pushed Jay to the ground, making Y/n and Kai laugh at the two.

"If you want what's best for you, just look into my head and you'll see what this tournament is all about. It's only a matter of time before Chen steals your power too. So are you in?" Lloyd asked, and Neuro nodded.

It was time for the fight, the fight between Cole and Jay.

Jay was training, with Kai and Y/n standing in front of him, waiting. Cole was on the other side of the arena, with Lloyd.

"Thinks it'll be an easy fight. Well, I'll show him! Haha!" Jay laughed in triumph, when he destroyed the punching bag with Cole's photo. The photo fell on the ground, and Jay looked at it sadly.

"Jay. You got this." Y/n reassured him, smiling. "Try to make it a tie? Maybe he'll let you both continue."

"Yeah, yeah. I got this. I got this..." He muttered, as Neuro arrived. "And I don't want to make it a tie. I wanna win."

"You're cutting it close. So did you see into his head?" Kai asked.

"I'm sorry. I couldn't get past Clouse." The master of mind replied, sighing.

"Good. Then we can finally put our feud to rest. Gladiator style!" Jay cheered, and Y/n motioned to Lloyd that they didn't have anything.

"But I did see something. For a brief moment, I saw inside Clouse's mind. The powers he's collecting, they are for a spell. A spell for what, I don't know. But it's in his spellbook on page 149. I'm sorry it's not enough to stop the fight. I wish I could've done more."

"That's okay. You've done what you could." Kai said, and the music went louder, signalling the fight was about to begin. Y/n, Lloyd and Kai walk back to Garmadon, who stood in the audience.

"You tried your best, the rest is up to them." He said, glancing at Chen.

"I hope they can see that too." Lloyd sighed.

"Let the tournament continue! Jay, Master of Lightning, versus Cole, Master of-" Chen couldn't finish because Jay and Cole were already running to each other.

Jay made a blast of lighting fly towards the master of earth, but he jumped over it. Cole replied by sending earth towards the blue ninja.

"Haha! That's all you've got? Least valuable Ninja!" Jay laughed, getting into a fighting stance.

"Eat dirt, Blue-belle!" Cole shouted, controlling the earth and firing it at Jay.

"Oh, Clouse, go get me popcorn. This is turning out better than I anticipated." Chen laughed, with Clouse taking popcorn for his master.

Jay and Cole were now fighting each other by only using their elemental powers. "Stronger than you thought, eh? That's your betrayal flowing through my veins." Jay smirked.

"I'm looking forward to the peace and quiet when you're out of the tournament." Cole overpowers' the blue ninja, making him fall back. "What are we doing? I don't want you out. You're not my enemy, Chen is." The master of earth came back to senses.

"Oh, sure, lower my guard by pretending to be my friend, then swoop in to steal the prize. Typical Cole maneuver." Jay replied, standing up and getting ready to fight the master of earth again.

"I never meant to hurt you, Jay. If I knew it would destroy our friendship, I'd take it all back. Everything I said."

"Well, if we're being honest, I was upset about losing Nya, but I take blame for that. I was more upset about losing you. We used to be good friends."

"The best! Right? We should've been honest with each other instead of bottling this up." Cole agreed, smiling.

"Agreed. But how are we supposed to stop fighting? We can't both win." The blue ninja said, glancing at Chen.

"Well, maybe we can draw it out till they call it a tie. Quick, attack me. But not hard." The master of earth replied, and Jay attacked him without using elemental powers.

"Ah, what is this? Patty cake? I'm bored. Release the condrai crushers!" Chen declared and the crushers appear, circling around the two.

"I got your back." The black ninja said, standing back to back with Jay.

"And I've got yours."

"Ninja, go!" They cried out, doing spinjitzu and dodging a crusher, who drove into a wall.

"Ah, they fight together. Good work, son." Garmadon complimented, smiling.

"Yeah, I do listen to you every once in a while." The green ninja replied, as Cole and Jay get rid of the crushers.

"nough! I know what you are trying to do. If neither of you will win, then both of you will lose!" Chen yelled, pushing buttons and opening trapdoors.

Cole jumped to Jay, "We can't both lose. Chen's right, there can only be one."

"And it should be you. You and I both know I'm lucky to have even made it this far. You take the Jadeblade." Jay nodded, and Cole made his way to the jadeblade. He takes the blade, but throws it to Jay.

"Winner! Loser! Master of Lightning moves on." Chen laughed.

"She's yours, Jay. I should've bowed out long ago. Win this thing." Cole said, jumping off the pilar that held the jadeblade.

Chen pushes a button and drops Cole in a trapdoor. "About time. Phew."

"Cole may be gone, but he did not lose. Let what he did here today be a lesson for us all: know thine enemy, but more importantly, know thy friend. He fought like a true Ninja." Garmadon told Lloyd, Kai and Y/n, who sighed.

I don't have to say or tell anything so let's just go to the voting part.

Who do you want Y/n to end up with?
