You and Jack loved to cause trouble and pick playful fights with Gabe

Despite Gabe's retorting teasing that Jack was trying to steal you away from him, you all knew well that it wasn't the case at all and that Gabe would trade the entire world for you

When you're chosen for a cryogenic experiment, Gabe does everything in his power to stop you; Jack doesn't like the idea either but he supports your decision to go through with it and promises to keep a good eye on Gabe until you return

Of course, we all know how that ended up

When you wake up, it's at the hands of Mercy and Mei, as Mei found you, recognized you, and called Mercy up to help her out with safely waking you up

You greet Mercy happily, as she was one of your friends back in the day, then you bombard her with questions about the current time period

You do not like the answers

You weep for Gabe and Jack, and Mercy takes you back to Overwatch, which had been recalled for a few months now

You're kept a secret and are given a makeshift room in the infirmary until you're up to full health

You've agreed to get back into Overwatch after doing so and that's just what you do

You meet almost everyone on the team, aside from a select few (Winston was buried in his work, Soldier 76 was out on a mission)

(You and McCree get along quite well, which is surprising since you two weren't too fond of each other back in the days of Blackwatch)

Eventually, Soldier makes it home

When Mercy takes you to meet him, you recognize him immediately

No one else has those shoulders, that jawline, that flat ass, that voice, other than your best friend Jack

He recognizes you too, of course; you haven't changed a bit

He steals you away to his office to explain everything to you, as well as to bombard you with questions of his own

And, just, tight hugs and sharing memories because damn has it been a long time

You make a comment that he's handsome as always; he makes a comment that you haven't changed a bit

Both of you sitting on his desk like teenagers and absentmindedly holding hands while chatting

You ask him about Gabe's death and he hesitantly explains that too

(Personal headcanon that he knows Gabe is Reaper and vise versa, but still doesn't quite know what caused Reaper to become what he is)

You immediately demand to be put on a mission against Talon as soon as possible

He refuses until you've gotten some decent modern training, then he takes you on a specifically Reaper-based mission

He leaves you to "fight" (confront) Reaper alone but makes sure to stay nearby just in case

Again, you recognize your Gabe immediately, even with the mask and layers of cloak

Reaper absolutely falls apart when he sees you

At first he jets over to hold you tight, then jerks back and pushes away because he can't be Gabe anymore, he's Reaper now

His voice is filled with so much pain when he talks

You try to interrogate him, ask him why he's doing the things he's doing and why he doesn't come back with you

In turn, he almost asks you come with him back to Talon, then stops himself again

So much pain fills this man

There's only one thing he can do to make you stop acting the way you are, so he attacks

Immediately, Jack is there and helping you escape, though not without a few scrapes on both sides of the fighting

After you get home and get fixed up by Mercy, he visits you in your room to apologize for both letting you get hurt and for Gabe not being Gabe anymore

He thinks you're upset but you've always been a spitfire

You're going to get your Gabe back

Maybe not today but soon

And you're going to make Jack help
