Kagami Taiga

The italics is your thoughts, unless it's bold too, then it's lyrics.
--------------

I ponder of something great
My lungs will fill and then deflate
They fill with fire
Exhale desire
I know it's dire
My time today

As you laid on your bed, you began to wonder, "What does my future hold?"

The only sound of your breathing drowning out the silence, the steady in and out.

With every breath, you began to slip farther away into your thoughts.

"There will come a day when we can no longer hear our own breathing, but the breathing of others from down below."

"We are left with such a short time on this earth, so what does this short time hold for me?"

Getting up from the bed, you walked down the hall. Arriving at the door, you slipped on your shoes and left, making sure you had your key.

I have these thoughts
So often I ought
To replace that slot
With what I once bought
'Cause somebody stole
My car radio
And now I just sit in silence

The streets were barren and there was not a sound for miles. But then again, it was around 1 a.m.

As you walked, the sounds of your feet against the pavement was all that was keeping you sane that night.

Usually, there would be some kind of noise, but not that night.

"I wonder what it would be like if I was no longer around."

Sometimes quiet is violent
I find it hard to hide it
My pride is no longer inside
It's on my sleeve
My skin will scream
Reminding me of
Who I killed inside my dream
I hate this car that I'm driving
There's no hiding for me
I'm forced to deal with what I feel
There is no distraction to mask what is real
I could pull the steering wheel

As you reached the small park, you sat on one of the benches, curling yourself up and looking the sky.

The silence came in waves, but you couldn't tell. For the thoughts in your head were louder than your screams for help.

You finally let your guard down, letting your hidden emotions take over. All of the sadness, anger, pain, you had been hiding. You let it out, exposing it to the world surrounding you.

You begin to sweat as the guilt slowly overtakes you. Your mind plunges into the darkness as you sit, staring at the stars.

"I hate this life, living it. Why am I even here?"

Blocking your thoughts out now seems impossible as there is nothing to stop you from thinking. Only the silence, which encourages it.

There is no music, no noises, nothing to distract you from the truth this time.

"Isn't it fascinating how we could end it all, but only if we chose to?"

I ponder of something terrifying
'Cause this time there's no sound to hide behind
I find over the course of our human existence
One thing consists of consistence
And it's that we're all battling fear
Oh dear, I don't know if we know why we're here
Oh my,
Too deep
Please stop thinking
I liked it better when my car had sound

You had never noticed it before, but without the sound, you're nothing. Without the sounds, it's an endless torment.

"Why is it that we are always fighting our fears? Ourselves? Do our fears control us?"

You had been so caught up in your thoughts that you didn't feel the presence in front you.

"You know it's extremely late, right?"

You ears perked up at the sound of a deep voice in front of you.

You quickly looked up to see none other than the red headed guy you called your boyfriend.

"Um, yes..? Not really.. I don't really care," you said, turning your head back to the sky.

Kagami sighed, sitting down on the bench beside of you.

"You should. It's nearly 3 a.m. What would you do if someone had kidnapped you?!" he replied, half shouting at you.

You glanced over at him.

"Well I'm fine, aren't I? I know how to look after myself Tai-kun. Besides, why are you out this late?"

That, he didn't seem to have an answer for. And so the same silence settled back in around you and Kagami.

There are things we can do
But from the things that work there are only two
And from the two that we choose to do
Peace will win
And fear will lose
There's faith and there's sleep
We need to pick one please because
Faith is to be awake
And to be awake is for us to think
And for us to think is to be alive
And I will try with every rhyme
To come across like I am dying
To let you know you need to try to think

In the silence lies the question of which you will choose.

"Will you choose to be at peace with your fears or try to overcome them? Is it worth trying?"

This time, you do not stare at the stars, but at the tall man beside of you and instead of getting all the bad and dark thoughts, something much better came.

You thought of how this one person changed your whole life. How he saved you from your darkest times and gave you faith, have you a reason to live again.

Even though the dark thoughts may come back sometimes, you know now that you can overcome them.

"Our thoughts may be bad at times, but they can also be good. Our thoughts could save us."

I have these thoughts
So often I ought
To replace that slot
With what I once bought
'Cause somebody stole
My car radio
And now I just sit in silence

Deciding to break the silence, you called out to Kagami.

"Hey, Taiga."

Kagami turned his head, looking over at you with a sleepy look.

"Hmm?" he mumbled.

Slowly leaning over, you laid your head on Kagami's chest directly above his heart. You could hear the faint beating of his heart.

"I love you, Taiga."

You felt two strong arms wrap themselves around you, pulling you closer to the warm body they were attached to.

"I love you too."

Time went by as you and Kagami stayed on the bench in that exact spot. The silence settled in again, but instead of it being heavy, it was almost comforting.

"Maybe the silence isn't always bad."
