2. Attraction

A few days had past and I thought we all got along but we're not friends friends yet. Except for Alex.

Those days we had been hanging out and we had so much in common, it was terrifying. We're both Aries, born only five days apart. You know how I figured that out? I saw that he carries many lighters in his bag "just in case". I asked "what's your sign?" and I got the obvious answer. Yes, I'm the astrology bitch nobody likes.

Alex and I always joke about how we are twins, we are both the same; intuitive, impulsive, we can sense when something is off and we give each other the look. He had my back so many times and I had his many more, but back then I didn't know yet how important he would become.

The next group hangout we decided to go out instead. We went to a bar and we all dressed pretty. I wore red lipstick and a cute top with a cleavage that highlighted my gifted front. I think I caught Luke staring at them. Job done.

We started spending more and more time together, as October was approaching. A month of many birthdays, but most importantly, Halloween.

Oh, you won't believe what I found out during these hangouts. Luke is an Aquarius.

I know, big red flag, right?

But that's the thing; I like it. I have a history with Aquarius people. My only boyfriend ever was an Aquarius and he was an ass. One girl I had a ridiculous crush on a few months ago, also an Aquarius, and she was a bit of an ass too. Now Luke.

I really hope he isn't an ass but, let's be honest, the bar is in hell.

I was in the library at school one day, trying to steal Wi-Fi. Many other people were there for the same reason, so no problem. The problem was the internet sucked and nothing worked. I was reading some philosophy books that I needed to study when my phone vibrated. Luke?! He never texts us, unless it's school related, of course. That nerd.

"Do any of you have the books for the test? The internet is down, I can't get them" he typed.

I rushed to reply "I have them", I just wanted him to acknowledge me, ok?

"Thanks, I'm on my way" he replied, as blunt as always.

I started to panic when I accidentally refreshed the page, and it turned out my internet was also down. So, no, I didn't have the books Luke was coming for.

I was desperately trying to fix it when he arrived. So fast.

"You were here?" I asked. My eyes were almost popping out of my skull, but I was trying to look chill. Completely failing.

"Yeah, I was upstairs" he replied, trying to sound nice, but still coming out blunt. "Do you have it? I only need from page sixteen to eighteen" he was staring at me so intensely I thought my soul was leaving my body.

"Ah" I stuttered, "yeah, just give me a second" I ran to the bookshelves, leaving him standing there alone.

I started to search for every title until I could find the books he needed, I was too embarrassed to tell him I lied. It wasn't a bad lie, but a stupid one. And I made him walk down to the library for it.

Some God or magic force of the universe was on my side that day, because I found them pretty quickly. I rushed back to him. He was still standing in the same spot, in the same position, staring at his phone.

"Here" I smiled as I offered him the physical, long as fuck books he asked me for.

"The whole book?" he raised an eyebrow at me as he grabbed them, "I thought you had the PDFs of the pages we needed."

I could have said I didn't. Yeah I could've said that.

Instead I said "No, I meant these"

I smiled awkwardly. And then, something completely unexpected, earth shattering, mind blowing happened.

He smiled back.

I couldn't believe my eyes. My ass was shaking, literally.

"Ok then, thank you" he said.

"You're welcome" I couldn't get my eyes off of his, and he wouldn't stop staring. He's intense.

It looked like he was trying to find something to say before inevitably walking out. I observed as he stared at the floor, then the ceiling, then back at me. His feet were half pointing at the door, not sure whether to stay or not.

Finally, he spoke "So, you're studying here?" he pretended to look around the place.

"Uh, yes" I answered as I tried to focus on any other part of his face that weren't his eyes.

"For philosophy?"

"Yes"

"Nice" he grinned. He was staring at his fingers like a shy kid until he raised his gaze to meet mine.

He made me so nervous, but not in a bad way.

Actually, it was thrilling, the way he made me feel. I was like a school girl having a crush on her classmate. He was the type to go unnoticed, overlooked. But I saw him. And something told me there was still so much about him to unfold.

"Well, I better get going" he said. I was trying to think of something to say to make him stay, but I had no words. I could only stare. "Good luck with that"" he pointed at my mess of sheets and computer on the table. I just nodded weakly.

"Yeah, you too" I grinned.

He stared at me one last time before walking out the door. I wished I could've asked him to stay and study together, but not a coherent word came out of my mouth.

It was weird in the best way, and I couldn't wait for my next weird conversation with him.
