Book 1 ~ Chapter 8

✨•~~~~~~~~•✨
LEIs POV

Ever since, we lost the van, we searched every street in the city. We've searched all night long for any trace of the equalists but we found nothing.

"We've been searching all night," Korra said tiredly.

"Wherever they are, they're gone," I said.

"We've got to keep looking," Mako said, he was sad. He was afraid to lose his brother.

"I have an idea, follow me," Korra said and Naga ran.

We stopped at a fountain in the Republic City Park. Naga and Kaya started drinking, they must've been tired for running around the whole night.

"Tell me, what are we doing in the park?" I asked as I took a seat on the edge of the fountain.

"The first day I came here, I ran into an equalist protester," Korra explained.

"You think they'll know where Bolin is?" Mako asked.

"It's our only lead, right now," Korra said.

We decided to take a small break while waiting for the equalist that Korra was taking about.

"So, why is Bolin running around with triple threat triad anyways," Korra asked curiously.

"Well, we used to do some work for them back in the day," Mako said, not surprised, he looks like a criminal.

"Are you some kind of criminal?" Korra seemed annoyed.

"No, You don't know what you're talking about, I just helped out with numbers and stuff, we were orphans on the street, and I did what I had to do to survive and protect my little brother," Mako said angrily.

"I'm sorry, it must have been really hard," Korra said softly. "Can I ask what happened to your parents,"

"Korra," I warned, She's not supposed to ask these kinds of things.

"No, it's okay," Mako paused, "They were mugged by a fire bender in front of me, I was 8,"

It was odd. His life changed when he turned 8. So did I. Guess, me and him have something in common after all.

"Oh," Korra said.

"Bolin is the only family I have left, and if anything happened to him, I would never forgive myself," Mako said.

We all decided to rest, I took a small nap on Kaya next to a tree. After the small nap, I was wide awake. By the time I woke up, it was morning. I stood up and stretched, when I glanced at Korra. I smiled at the scene before me. Korra's head was leaning on Mako's shoulder. I coughed awkwardly, and they immediately woke up. They looked at each other, and immediately pulled apart from each other. It was obvious they were both blushing.

"Morning, love birds," I teased, Korra glared at me, I winked at her. "Look,"

I pointed to a guy protesting about equality at the other side of the park.

"That's the guy," Korra said.

Three of us walked up to the protestor, who seemed disgusted when he saw Korra.

"You again! You cannot silence me, Avatar," he shouted.

"You're right, I can't," Korra paused and looked at me, "But maybe she can,"

I smirked and ran up to him. I high kicked the mega phone he was holding and knocked it to the ground. It smashed into pieces. I grabbed the collar of his shirt and pinned him against the nearest light pole, and opened my palm to produce a blue flame. Korra and Mako were standing beside me, as I pinned the protester against the light pole.

"Listen up, my friends got kidnapped my some chi blockers, where'd they take him," Korra asked intimidatingly over my shoulder.

"I have no idea what you're talking about," He said.

"Oh, I think you do," Korra said, as she kicked the ground.

Her earth bending caused the table to fly to the sky and the flyers came falling down as it scattered across the park. I let him go and he immediately tried to pick back up all his posters. Mako grabbed one of the flyers.

"Witness the revelation, tonight, 9:00," Mako recited. "What's this revelation?"

"Nothing that concerns, you," He sneered.

"You better believe it concerns us," Korra held him up.

I opened my palm again to create the blue flame, ready to throw it at him. He widened his eyes at the sight of the flame.

"No one knows what the revelation is, and I have no idea what happened to your friend. But if he's a bender, then I bet he's gonna get what's coming to him," He spat.

A whistle suddenly blew, and I turned to see a police officer in the distance.

"Hey! What's going on over there?" The officer shouted.

"Let's go," I said, and whistled for Kaya.

I got on Kaya and we rode off, while Naga followed us. Once we were in a safe distance, we stopped on a bench. We gathered all the flyers, that Mako was able to grab before we ran off.

"Why didn't the equalists put a location in these?" Korra asked.

"Probably because they don't want anyone to waltz into their big revelation," Mako replied.

Korra held up a poster as she began reading it again. Then I widened my eyes when I saw something at the back of the flyer.

"Wait, Korra, turn the flyer around," I said, she turned it around.

"All these flyers have different backs," Mako noticed.

"Is it some kind of puzzle?" Korra asked.

"Of a map!" Mako said, he got the flyer with the red dot on it, and searched for a specific part of the Republic City Map.

"Bingo!" Mako exclaimed, "This is where it's going down,"

Before heading to the place, we grabbed a few regular clothes to disguise ourselves. When it was half an hour before nine, we were already peeking behind a corner.

"This is the place," Mako said, he was about to go, but I grabbed his wrist.

"I'll go first, just in case, if anything bad happens at least you guys can go get Bolin," I said, I was about to go when he grabbed my wrist, and looked me straight in the eye.

"No, we're going together, we'll be safer," Mako said. I didn't want to argue with him, so, I sighed and nodded.

We came out of the corner and slowly approached the entrance. I was walking beside Mako.

"What are you doing?" He asked Korra. I looked at Korra and saw her hugging his arm.

"We'll attract less attention this way," Korra said, but I didn't mind it.

We were walking to the entrance until I felt Mako hold my hand. I flinched at first, but he held it tightly as we stopped in front of the entrance, with a guard right in front of it.

"This is a private event, do you have an invitation?" The guard asked, I could feel Mako's hand tense.

"You mean this?" I said as I grabbed the flyer from my pocket, and handed it to him. He smiled.

"The revelation is upon us, dear brothers and sisters," He said as he let us pass.

As soon as no one was around, I let go of Mako's hand. I hope he didn't notice I felt uncomfortable. We walked up and stopped at the edge of the balcony. I looked down and saw many people gathered on the lower floor.

"I know a lot of people hated benders, but I've never seen so much in one place, Let's keep an eye for Bolin," Mako said.

We made our way through the crowd, and stopped at the front of the crowd. The lights dimmed and the spotlight shined on the stage, which meant the show was just about to begin.
