Book 2 ~ Chapter 13

✨•~~~~~~~~•✨
LEIs POV

I've been in this cell for who knows how long. It supposed to be the premiere of Bolin's film right now. I sat on the floor, with my back against the wall and my legs flat on the ground. I kept playing with blue fire in my hands to keep myself away from boredom. I wasn't sleepy at all either, so it was hard to keep myself occupied. After a few moments, I heard footsteps from the outside of the cell door. Keys started rustling, as it unlocked the door to my cell. I stood up immediately and was greeted by a friendly face.

"Bolin?" I said, as I looked at him.

I scanned him and he looked like himself again without all those fancy clothes or weird outfits.

"Hey, Lei!" Bolin exclaimed.

I raised my eyebrow in confusion. Why aren't the guards shutting the door? Many questions filled my head. But before I could ask or say anything, Mako showed up on the door frame. I approached them slowly.

"What's going on?" I asked curiously.

"Beifong is letting us go, Lei," Mako replied, I smiled widely.

"Oh, thank the spirits, I was dying of boredom in there," I chuckled, as I went out of the cell.

Mako chuckled and pulled me into an embrace, I hugged him back as well. It was sort of an accomplishment for the both of us, now that truth had probably gotten out. I was just happy that everything was alright now. Bolin and I were walking on the opposite sides of Mako. We were heading down a corridor, and when we turned right, we were greeted by many faces we hadn't seen in a long time. They were all clapping once Mako and I entered the room. I smiled when I got a look at some of them, like Tenzin and his siblings. However, my smile vanished when I saw Korra behind them, who I was really surprised to see, but I was still mad at her after what happened the last time we met, so I avoided her gaze.

"Good job, Mako, you too, Lei. Both of you will make great detectives," Lin commended, I smiled proudly.

"But Chief, there aren't any detective openings," Gung stated.

"Actually, there are two openings now," Lin said, as she crossed her arms. Gung and Lu exchanged looks of disappointment. Lin turned to me.

"Lei, I know I gave you a temporary job, but how about a permanent one?" Lin asked, I smiled.

"I would be honored, Chief," I said, as I bowed my head.

Suddenly, Korra came running up to Mako and I. She ran at me first, hugging me tightly with her arms wrapped around my sides. While my arms were sticking out in shock, refusing to hug her back. My eyes widened at what she was doing, does she think I forgive her after saying all those things to me. She pulled away from me and smiled at me. I gave her an odd look before she shifted to Mako. I was even more shocked by what she did next, she kissed Mako briefly, who was left struck as well. Bolin and I exchanged confused looks as we watched the couple.

"Mako, I missed you so much!" Korra said excitedly. I glanced at Asami, who didn't seemed thrilled by the situation.

"Umm, I forgot to tell you, Korra's back..." Bolin said awkwardly, as he put his arms around Mako and I.

"Yeah, thanks for the new information, Bo," I said sarcastically.

"Korra, Hey, I missed you too. You're not still mad at me?" Mako asked awkwardly. Korra raised an eyebrow.

"Why would I be mad?" Korra said innocently, I narrowed my eyes at her, strangely confused with the situation happening before me.

"Well, we had that fight before you left," Mako replied slowly.

"Oh, when I left, I got attacked by a dark spirit and lost my memory for a while. Did the fight end badly?" Korra asked, I raised my eyebrows.

"Um," Mako started, as his eyes traveled across the room.

Everyone seemed shocked as well, judging by their eyes as the widened. Well, it does explain why she acts as if the fight hadn't happened at all. I looked at Mako, who seemed frozen and unsure of what to reply. Everyone stared at him waiting for his response.

"No, no it didn't end that bad," Mako replied. Korra smiled.

I looked at him pointedly and he looked at me, but quickly avoided my gaze. That was his way of telling me 'I know, I'm stupid, Help me.'

"Korra, we don't have much time. We need to know how to deal with Unalaq," Tenzin said seriously, as he approached us.

"I know just the man to talk to," Bolin said.

I didn't like this idea at all. Lin accompanied me and the rest of Team Avatar to a cell, way to furnished. It was decorated from wall to wall, ceiling to floor, and had something on every corner. In the middle of it, sat a man I wish I could hit so hard for all the trouble he caused Mako and I. We were all in a straight line with Mako and Lin standing at the opposite ends. I was between Mako and Asami, while Korra was between Bolin and Lin. I stood tall and arms crossed at the man.

"Hey Guys! Take a look at my cell! Varrick Industries made this prison and I had this installed cause I had a feeling I would end up here anyway," Varrick said brightly.

"Ju Lee! Make some of that green tea I love! We have guests," Varrick ordered, Ju Lee appeared from the other side of the room.

"Yes, Sir," Ju Lee said, before making the tea at the corner.

"Ju Lee is in prison with you?" Korra asked stupidly.

"Does it look like she's out of the cell?" I said, gesturing to the cell. I could feel Korra's eyes on me, but I didn't mind.

"Of course, she's in here with me. I never go anywhere without my assistant. Do you?," Varrick stated.

"We're not interested in your tea and this isn't a friendly visit," Mako said sternly.

"Don't tell me you're still mad about what's happened? I did some good things too," Varrick said innocently, I raised my eyebrow.

"Oh really? Like what?" I taunted him.

"Korra, who warned you about Unalaq? I did. Bolin, who got you into the movers? I did. Asami, who saved you company? I did. Mako and Lei, who put you in jail? I did. Oh wait, I guess that was a bad thing," Varrick said, I rolled my eyes.

"You stole everything from my company and tried to hurt the President. Those were pretty bad too," Asami said.

"I wasn't trying to hurt him, I just needed to start an even bigger war," Varrick stated.

"We're gonna put an end to this war, now where did you hide all of Asami's stuff?" Bolin asked.

"The future industries stuff? It's all in my battleship," Varrick replied.

"You have a battleship?" Korra asked.

"Why am I not surprised," I muttered.

"Of course! I have the first one they ever made!" Varrick said colorfully, as he sat back in his chair.

"I named it 'The Ju Lee'" Varrick said, as he glided his hand through the air. I rolled my eyes.

"You named your battleship after your assistant?" Bolin asked confusedly.

"Yep, they're both cold, heartless war machines," Varrick replied, as Ju Lee came up behind him.

"Your tea, sir," Ju Lee said, as she set a cup on his table side. Varrick took the cup in his hand

"Look, I'm truly sorry for the mess I caused. Let me make it up to you, take Ju Lee," Varrick said, before sipping his tea. I raised my eyebrow.

"I meant my battleship, and everything on it," Varrick continued.

"Well, it's not the fleet we were looking for but it's the next best thing," Korra said, as she faced us.

"Alright! Team Avatar is back!" Bolin jumped excitedly, as he hugged us all together.

I smiled at his excitement. However, I kept thinking. Although Team Avatar is back together as a group, will we actually work as a team?
