Athena walked down the road and saw more Chitauri attacking the buildings all around them. Athena ran towards them and started fighting them. Athena got most of them and got one of their guns and started to shoot them with it.

Athena got overwhelmed with how many were coming at her. Athena screamed in frustration and some sort of blue energy came out of her body and split a hole in the ground. The Chitauri dissolved in thin air. Athena stared at where the Chitauri just was. Then Athena ran to where everybody was and saw Thor joining them.

She joined the conversation. "There is at least a hundred thousand Chitauri," Athena said.

"I have unfinished business with Loki," Thor said.

"Well, get in line," Clint said.

"We do it as a team," Steve said.

"Loki's going to keep this fight focused on us, and that's what we need without him these things can run wild," Steve said.

"We got Stark up top. He's going to need us
to-" Steve said as he was interrupted by the sound of a moped. They all turned around and saw Bruce riding up to them. "About time," Athena said.

"This all seems horrible," Bruce said.

"I've seen worse," Natasha said.

"Sorry," Bruce said.

"No, we could use a little worse," Natasha said.

"Stark, we got him," Steve said.

"Banner?" Tony asked.

"Yup," Athena said.

"Tell him to suit up. I'm bringing the party to you," Tony said and they could just barely see Tony fly around the corner with the big snake thing following behind him.

"I don't see how that is a party," Natasha said, saying exactly what Athena was thinking. "Dr. Banner now may be a good time for you to get angry," Steve said.

"That's my secret, Captain. I'm always angry," Bruce said then turned into the Hulk and punched the snake thing. "I need to get inside," Athena said, grabbing one of Clint's arrows. "Why?" Steve asked.

"You'll see," Athena said and tan towards the snake thing. She jumped into its mouth. "Athena!" She heard someone yell. Athena went down to the stomach of the snake thing. Athena focused for a second and released her new power. When she did two blue swords replaced the arrow. She went to the side of the stomach and stabbed it repeatedly till she could get out.

Athena got out of the Chitauri snake's stomach and walked away from the body and towards the other Avengers. "That's a new one," Tony said.

"Trust me, it surprised me too," Athena said and heard a bunch of roars. They saw more Chitauri coming through the portal. "We need to close that portal," Athena said.

"Until we can close that portal, our priority is containment. Barton, I want eyes on everything. Call out patterns and strays. Stark, you got the perimeter. If anything gets more than three blocks out, you turn it back or turn it to ash," Steve said.

"Can you give me a lift?" Barton asked.

"Right, better clench up, Legolas," Tony said and grabbed Clint and flew away. "Thor, you got to try and bottleneck that portal. Slow it down, you got the lightning so light the bastards up. Natasha, Athena, we stay here on the ground. We keep fighting here. And Hulk, smash," Steve said and Hulk smiled and left.

"They are coming," Athena said looking at a group of Chitauri. "Okay," Steve said and got into a fighting stance. Athena followed in suit and got into a fighting stance. Athena began fighting when they arrived.

More Chitauri were coming their way. "Get back," Athena said as she stepped forward. "Just trust me," Athena said as she focused on how she did that explosion. They got closer and closer then Athena found that amount of frustration and Athena saw blue lightning coming down my arms. Athena shot it towards the Chitauri and they all disappeared into dust.

"That's new," Natasha said and Athena ignored the comment and focused on fighting more Chitauri. "Captain, none of this is going to mean a damn thing if we don't close that portal," Natasha said.

"Our biggest guns couldn't touch it," Steve said.

"Maybe it's not about guns," Natasha said.

"If you want to get up there, you're going to need a ride," Steve said.

"I got a ride," Natasha said. "I could use a boost, though," Natasha continued.

"Are you sure about this?" Steve asked.

"Yeah, it's gonna be fun," She said and jumped off of Steve's shield and into one of the ships. More Chitauri came towards them and they fought over and over.

Tony came down and helped them a little then flew back up. Then it hit me. "Steve, if Natasha goes in that portal she won't make it out," Athena said while fighting some Chitauri. "What do you mean?" He asked while fighting some Chitauri. "She will die is what I mean," Athena said and finished off a few of the Chitauri. "We need to stop her," Steve said.

"No, someone needs to get there first," Athena said.

"Athena, no," Steve said.

"I can do it," Athena said and he sighed. "Fine," Steve said and Athena started walking to the edge of the bridge. "Be careful!" Steve said.

"I will," Athena said and jumped off the bridge and onto a ship coming through.

The ship got close enough to the portal that she could jump up into it. Athena jumped into the portal and took the grenade off of her belt and threw it further into the portal. Athena landed on another. Chitauri snake. "Get the Tesseract," Athena said.

"On it," Athena heard Tony say.

"Athena, if he takes the Tesseract you will be stuck there," Steve said.

"I know, but it's better than blowing everybody up," Athena said and waited. She saw the portal start to shrink. 'I have time to make it through,' Athena thought, Athena jumped through the portal and started falling to her death.

Athena's breath caught in her throat as she neared the ground. Athena prepared for impact, but it never came. Instead, she felt hands grab her and she looked and saw the Hulk. Athena let out a breath of relief and they landed safely on the ground.
