Chapter 9

"Russia?" Athena questioned, not believing what she was hearing. "We can send a team to get them," Fury said as he slid the file closer to the edge of the desk. "No. I'll get them myself," Athena said and she walked towards the door. "Athena," Fury said and she turned to look at him. "Be careful. You don't know what you're getting yourself into," Fury said and Athena walked out of the office.

Athena went to her room and began to pack for the trip. Once she had the bags packed, she walked out of her room and towards the computer room. "Can you look up the location of the Shield base in Russia?" Athena asked as she approached one of the agents. "Yes," The agent said and he started typing.

A few seconds later, the agent turned to her. "I located it," he said and Athena looked over and saw roughly where it was. "Send it to the jet on the F dock," Athena said and the agent nodded. "Thank you," Athena said and she walked out.

Athena walked into her room and grabbed her bags before heading in the direction of the F dock. She got in and walked directly to the cockpit. She started up the jet and once it was ready she took off.

Within 8 hours of flying she was in Russia and was trying to find this base. The base was hidden between mountain ranges. She could barely tell that it was there. She saw the landing pad and started to lower the jet.

Athena reached for her radio. "I would like permission to land," Athena said in Russian. Hoping that they weren't hostile. "Who are you? Where do you come from?" The man on the other end asked in Russian.

"I am Agent Brown of the Manhattan Shield Base," Athena replied and the agent on the other side granted Athena permission to land and she did.

Athena got out of the jet with her bag in hand and was greeted by an older lady. All Athena could think about was that she hoped that her Russian was good enough to converse. She is fluent in the language, but it's been a while. She might be a bit rusty.

"Hello, you must be Agent Brown. I am Agent Ivanov, I am the director of this field base," she said in English, which surprised Athena at first. "Nice to meet you, ma'am," Athena said as she started walking with Agent Ivanov. "What brings you to this base?" Agent Ivanov asked.

"I have orders from Director Fury to get some memories that are being stored here," Athena answered and Agent Ivanov nodded. "Yes. Which ones?" Agent Ivanov asked.

"The memories of Agent Natasha Romanoff from approximately 2005," Athena informed and Agent Ivanov nodded and walked down a set of stairs.

After walking down multiple flights of stairs, she finally made it to a lab underground. Agent Ivanov went over to a steel door and began to type on a keypad by the door. The keypad scanned her eye and the door opened. Agent Ivanov walked in and grabbed something out of a freezer before walking out.

She walked up to Athena with a small vial in her hand and gave it to Athena. "Thank you," Athena replied as the two of them started up the stairs. "You're welcome," Agent Ivanov said.

They got to the top of the stairs and overheard some commotion. Agent Ivanov walked into the computer room. "What's going on?" Agent Ivanov asked, now switching back to her native language. "We have another Shield jet wanting to land," an agent said.

"What were the names they gave you?" Athena asked.

"Clint Barton and Steve Rogers," He answered and Athena sighed. "Shit," Athena whispered and she looked at Agent Ivanov. "Do you know them?" She asked.

"Yes. You can let them in. Both of them work for Director Fury," Athena said, not actually telling the truth for Steve at least. Agent Ivanov nodded towards the agent. "Let them in," she replied in Russian. The agent nodded and replied to Clint and Steve.

A couple minutes later, Clint and Steve walked through the door in their suits and walked up to Athena. "We need to go," Clint said.

"Why?" Athena asked, she was about to leave anyway, but she still wanted the answer. "Because it's not safe here," Clint said and Athena rolled her eyes. "You knew didn't you?" Athena asked.

"Yes, I did know she got her memories erased, but I didn't know why," Clint said and Athena walked past them and grabbed her bag. "Let's go. It was nice to meet you, Agent Ivanov," Athena said with a little bit of her Russian accent peeking through. Athena walked towards where she hand landed the jet while Steve and Clint followed her.

They split from each other and took their separate jets and took off.

About two hours into the flight, something hit the side of the jet roughly. At first, Athena ignored it, until it happened again. "What the hell?" Athena asked to herself as she tried to hunt down the cause.

"Clint, what's going on out there?" Athena asked, hoping that he would have an answer. "I can't see anything yet," Clint said and Athena kept trying to look. They had to be in Moscow by now. Once she flew past it the random bumps stopped. "Is it still happening, Brown?" Clint asked.

"Nope, it stopped," Athena answered as she put the jet on cloaking mode.

A few hours later, Athena arrived to the Manhattan base with Natasha's memories safely secured. Unfortunately Athena couldn't give them to Natasha because it was three in the morning. There was barely anyone working the landing pad.

Athena safely landed her jet and walked into the base. Now looking for some sleep. She's been flying all day and she wanted to get some rest.

She greeted the night workers and went to her room to sleep. Which she did almost as soon as her head hit the pillow.

Athena woke up early the next morning and took a quick shower and changing into casual clothes before walking to the cafeteria. She grabbed an apple and took a bite out of it as she leaned against the cupboard. Fury walked into the room and came over to Athena.

"Come with me," he said and Athena followed him out of the room. They arrived to another room and they walked in. "What is this about?" Athena asked.

Fury didn't say a word. He then left the room and closed the door behind him. Athena looked around the room and saw a man sitting down at one of the tables. He stood up and turned to face Athena. She froze at the sight of who was standing in front of her.

"You're alive?" Athena asked as she hugged him. "Surprise," Agent Coulson said.

"How?" Athena asked.

"It's a long story and I'm not supposed to talk about it," Coulson said and the two them sat down at the table.
