I T HAD BEEN A FEW WEEKS SINCE EDEN HAD MET BELLA AND THEY HAVE BECOME FAST FRIENDS. Eden never had a friend who wasn't somehow related to her or has betrayed her and caged her, but surprisingly the human being Eden was forced to watch over has now wormed in her cold heart.

Bella never ended up going to Jacob's house that one time she agreed for Eden to join her but, she hit up Eden who was binge watching a show called The Vampire Diaries, and asked her if she wanted to go visit Jacob, who was apparently ignoring Bella. This significantly interested Eden, a teenage boy who was up Bella's ass is now ignoring her? Very interesting.

Unfortunately as she sat in the red old truck while Bella drove towards the reserve, Eden quickly realised it wasn't as interesting as she originally thought. The boy was just ignoring Bella for no apparent reason. Eden was bored and curious; a bored and curious Eden doesn't think about consequences. She wanted to learn more about Bella and Edward , and how they met, maybe even the reason he left so suddenly. Edward  never revealed why they left even though it's probably an important factor as to why Eden is protecting Bella. Rosalie and the others hardly told Eden anything and if she did question Edward threatened to throw her back into that place. It hurt, knowing her cousin that she once trusted with her life would rather her be caged then out in the open. She knows before they caged her, she didn't have much control but over the years, she would've thought by now they know she's learnt how to.

" How did you meet Edward?" Eden bluntly questioned, getting straight into the point. To Eden, Bella is just someone who- despite being her close friend, is someone who will easily die anytime soon. She;s human, a fragile being who according to Jasper, smells amazing.

"O-oh, uh through school. I grew too curious and discovered your family's secret." Bella stuttered and paused, wincing. Her brown eyes getting teary because she misses Edward. Alice has informed her about the months that went by where Bella was basically a zombie, she's actually still going through but Eden hopes she's helped her.

Eden looked at Bella awkwardly and patted her on the shoulder, "There, there." she muttered. Eden has nearly forgotten about human emotions, she's only felt anger, sadness and hunger in the years she was caged in. Only when she was released a few weeks ago has she started to experience other emotions, and she still doesn't know how to comfort. That's something her and Bella have in common.

"He was also intrigued by me, uh he couldn't really read my mind for some reason and I was, I guess intrigued by him too." Bella quietly said as she drove her red truck. Her eyes were teary and she was biting her lips. Eden felt extremely awkward, no one in the Cullen's had prepared her for this. Becoming friends with a fragile human and comforting her over her relationship with her cousin also wasn't warranted.

"But anyways the actual reason we started talking is because I nearly got ran over by a car and he saved me. It's also one of the reasons I got suspicious of your family, I mean he wasn't even near me at all and he managed to stop the car before it hit me. The obvious lies he would tell me to cover up his secret also didn't help" Bella explained, the frown that was once on her lips was replaced with a small smile on her face. It seemed as though it was a nice memory, the beginning of their relationship.

"Why did he and my family leave?" Eden finally questioned, it was killing her. She's been wondering about it ever since she was freed. The Cullen's provided her with the basics on how to survive in the modern world, but they didn't keep her up to date onto why Edward decided to break things off with Bella and run away. All she knew is that something happened at a birthday party and it put Bella in danger.

"It was my eighteenth birthday party and I accidentally cut myself, Jasper smelt me and attempted to kill me, I guess Edward realised the so-called danger he brought to me so they moved. He uh, left me." Bella said close to tears, Eden panicked, this is the second time Bella is in tears. She patted Bella's back again as she thought about what Bella just told her.

Bella dating a vampire and becoming friends with vampires- one who is struggling to control his thirst with humans is just a red flag altogether. Edward should've known the dangers he was bringing Bella in. He's smarter than that, they all knew it so why is he so infuriated with a teenager? The car ride was silent for a few minutes as Eden glanced at the woods wistfully, wishing she could run around them. Her run a few days ago wasn't enough for her.

"So you're a vampire huh?" She suddenly asked with bitterness in her tone, Eden raised her left eyebrow at her and shook her head. The thought was funny to her, if she ever became a vampire before she shifted, she probably would've been dead by now, by others and if not by herself. The idea of Eden becoming a vampire was something she loathed.

"No uh, I'm a were-coyote," Eden replied and started to explain once she saw Bella's confused look. "Basically I can shift into a coyote, my strength is similar to a vampire but instead of becoming one from a bite, it's more of a genetics type of thing. If you.. kill someone and you have the were-coyote gene in you, you've basically unleashed inner coyote in you"

"Sorry if that seemed rude, I'm still going through the sad, lonely phase of a breakup, now slowly into the bitterness stage- I know Eden you don't need to give me that look, but that's really cool, I never knew were-coyotes existed," Bella informed Eden with a frown on her face, she seemed confused.

Eden sighed before further explaining, "were-coyotes are rare, there's barely any around from what Carlisle told me. We get hunted by humans and vampire" Eden bitterly said, before deciding she wanted to change the topic. What happened to her kind upsets her, and her day has already been depressing as it is.

"Just find a new boy toy." Eden suddenly said, surprising Bella who took her eyes off the road and looked at Eden in shock, "What? Did I say something wrong?". The only reason she knew what a boy toy was, is from the movies Alice forced her to watch.

Bella let out a small chuckle, she found Eden strange. To Bella, Eden acted like she hasn't been in the world for ages- which she hasn't but Bella doesn't know that yet.

"Why are we going to Jacobs by the way? To hang out or is he your boy toy? Or are we going to confront him for ignoring you?" Eden asked, she knew he wasn't her boy toy since Bella wasn't like that but Eden had to ask, she was curious and Rosalie told her that Edward was worried Jacob would pull something on Bella.

"Uh, this may sound like I'm a crazy ex-girlfriend but he hasn't been answering my calls even though he usually does, as I've told you but I think he's avoiding me and I have no idea why. I can't handle another person ignoring me." Bella answered before parking in front of a red cosy looking house, Eden got the hint that their conversation about Jacob was final.

Her brown eyes widened in surprise as sudden anger took over Bella who slammed the car door and stormed towards the house. The smell of dog was everywhere; Eden quickly realised where she was. "Bella! Bella!" she shouted and ran towards her, but Bella ignored her and continued.

"Bella, I can't be he-" Eden began to say and put her hand on Bella's shoulder to stop her but instead of facing her to listen, Bella shrugged Eden's hand off and banged at the door. She guesses their cozy conversation was over and now panic took over Eden. She shifted around nervously and glanced over her towards the truck. She quietly swore under her breath when an old guy in a wheelchair opened the door. He looked at Bella with a frown. She shouldn't be here, and Edward is going to kill her if he found out she crossed the treaty and let Bella go to Jacob's house. In her defence, he never informed her that Jacob is a fucking werewolf, another important information he hid from her.

"Hi, Billy. I know Jacobs sick but-" Before Bella could continue the man interrupted her, " He's out with his friends." the man said with a small frown, taken back Bella replies with an "Oh". Eden stood awkwardly next to Bella not knowing what to do, she hoped Bella would just leave. She guessed that Billy was Jacob's dad from the protective look he had on his face.

"I'll let him know you came by," Billy said as he began to close the door, he glanced at Eden in confusion as if suddenly noticing her before Bella swiftly moved closer to the door and stopped him. Eden wished this can just be over and done with, she wondered why is this Jacob guy was so important to Bella. Bella has multiple friends in this stupid town, why is one guy ghosting her important?

"Wait- he's got the mono, right? That's what you told my dad." Bella suddenly remembered looking at him worriedly, Eden decided to nudge Bella as to tell her to let's leave, but once again Bella decided to ignore her.

"You should go home, Bella," Billy says with compassion, furrowing his thick eyebrows and shut the door. Bella sighed in defeat and dragged  a happy Eden with her to the truck. Despite being happy to go back in the truck, Eden knew Bella is stubborn.

"Bella I can't be here, please let's just leave." Eden reminded her once again. She wondered why Bella can't realise that she's putting herself and her in danger, she should know that this is werewolf territory. Eden really doesn't really like the idea of fighting a werewolf. They may be similar species but Eden hasn't fought a werewolf- in fact anyone in a while so she may be a bit rusty.

Bella continued to ignore Eden and climbed in the truck, she slammed the door with a frown on her face. Eden growled in anger and got in the truck, as soon as Eden got in Bella started the truck, then decided to turn it off. She suddenly sank in her seat with a sigh. As excepted, she decided to wait, frustrating Eden who furrowed her eyebrows in frustration.

"Bella, please do not wait. I need to leave, I'm in danger and being here with you is putting you in danger." Eden begged Bella, she turned to Eden in interest and nodded for her to continue, but Eden doesn't want to continue, she wanted to leave! If only she didn't have to protect Bella- friends or not she would've left her alone, that's what coyote's do.

"Bella, there's this treaty. I don't know if Edward told you about it but I can't be here, I need to leave, now." Eden informed her with urgency, Bella huffed and continued to wait. Letting out a growl, Eden scowled and slumped into her seat. If the girl wanted to stay, fine but if she gets eaten by werewolves its hers and Edwards loss. She can- hopefully find another friend.

"Why is Jacob so important to you anyway?" Eden questioned, she wished Bella wasn't so stubborn but if they are going wait for the wolf then it shouldn't be in silence.

"Even when Edward was here, Jacob was always here for me, and he understood me. He can't leave me right now. Not when I basically have no one." Bella answered with tears in her eyes as she looked at Eden.

Eden felt a strange feeling of sadness for her, her lover and his family basically dropped her and the person who helped her get out of that strange zombie-like mode she had going on suddenly dropped her too? She would be storming in for answers too, except the guy who dropped her is a werewolf and she's Eden- a coyote, not Bella the human. The regret for joining Bella on this weird mission of hers was strong.

Eden looked up as she hugged Bella in sympathy and saw the man inside his house. He pulled the curtains back and looked out at Bella with sadness but closed the curtain when he saw Eden unconsiously glaring at him.

"Who is that man?" Eden questioned, she guessed it was Jacob's dad but she wanted to make sure, he could be his sugar daddy for all she knows.

"It's Billy, Jacob's dad if you hadn't already guessed" Bella answered sadly, she laid her head on Eden's shoulder as they waited in silence. Eden hasn't experienced such emotions in a while, one minute she felt sad for Bella and the next she felt annoyed with her stubbornness and curiousness. These strong and sudden emotions were all new to her and it made Eden overwhelmed. She wished she was warned about all these new information and feelings that were shoved into her life.

Suddenly there was a knock at the driver's window, Bella quickly turned around to face the window just to find a guy standing there. Eden guessed he was Jacob, he had no smile on his face and there was no warmth in his eyes.  His aura was just brooding and filled with resentment. He doesn't seem like the guy Bella described and that worried Eden. Did Bella even know he's a werewolf? She mentioned nothing about him being one.

Bella was clearly taken back, but still like the human she is, she climbed out of the red truck only to find other guys behind him. Eden soon followed behind her and glowered at them. Werewolf or not, she didn't like them.

They were oblivious to the rain, wearing minimal clothing but Eden knew why. They were all werewolves and rain doesn't bother them.  Bella glanced at Eden in reassurance before looking back at Jacob and the guys behind him, she was worried. The silence was too strong, and it made Eden conscious about everything that was going on. She can feel the rain splattering on her and everything surrounding them.

"You cut your hair." Bella blurted out, her tone had sadness lingering in it and the urge to protect Bella was too strong. Eden shifted closer to her. Edward would seriously kill her if any harm happened to her because of werewolves.

Eden shifted her gaze off from the guys and for the first time since she left the truck, onto Jacob. They hadn't looked at each other eye-to-eye yet but the minute his dark brooding eyes connected to hers, it felt like they were the only ones in the world. Everything seemed to slow down to her as she softened her gaze towards him. It seemed as though nothing could go wrong, she could imagine them growing old together. She could imagine finally experiencing true happiness with a werewolf named Jacob Black.

Jacob's beautiful brown eyes widened and that's when the spell had cut. Eden released a breath of air she didn't know she was holding in when she realised that Jacob Black is her soulmate, a fucking werewolf is her soulmate? Gods, if Edward was here he would throw her back into the dungeon.

She swore under her breath as Jacob's attention returned to her her. Her mate isn't meant to be a werewolf, and he definitely isn't supposed to be in love with Bella fucking Swan. Eden looked at the ground feeling rejected once he looked back at Bella, his gaze soft. Her soulmate is in love with someone else. She felt herself clench onto her top as the rain started to pour down harsher, her soulmate is in love with someone else. Bella bravely moved closer to Jacob before his stare hardened.

"Go away," Jacob said with coldness in his voice. His voice may have been harsh but it made Eden weak. It was rough and deep, a significant contrast to his soft brown eyes. His voice echoed in her brain as she stood frozen.

Jacob turned away towards the guys who were glaring at Eden and Bella. The guy who smelled like he was the Alpha led the group to the house once Jacob joined them. Eden continued to softly stare at Jacob when suddenly Bella grabbed his arm. Releasing a small growl, Eden watched the scene that began to occur in front of her. She was frustrated as to why her soulmate wouldn't acknowledge her, he was her soulmate. You don't ignore your one true love when you see them- at least that's what she knows. He hasn't even looked her in the eye again.

"What happened to you?" Bella questioned worriedly, Jacob stopped walking and turned around. He had a solemn look on his face, this broke Eden. She wanted to comfort him but there were people around them and she wasn't sure he'd like that- they haven't spoken a word to each other yet. The others were waiting on the porch for him, they're out of earshot but Eden knew it was to watch over them; to ensure Jacob doesn't reveal what he is to Bella. There interaction made Eden realise that somehow Bella is still clueless.

"I can help." Bella lowered her voice, it was obvious she didn't want the others to hear her but apparently it wasn't the right thing to say since Jacob's face turned hard as he shook his head.  Eden despite not having that much experience with emotions she could tell Jacob was in a turmoil and was having an inner battle with himself.

Eden was in a battle with herself too, the human was hopeless and it reminded her of herself when she was human. But yet her soulmate was in love with her, and Eden can't help but resent her for it a bit. But the fact that Bella was in love with her cousin comforted her, and that she would never return Jacob's feelings back.

"Sam got to you. What did he do?" Bella fired another question, Eden guessed Sam is the leader of the pack that Jacob's in. She frowned when she noticed that she wasn't doing much, she felt like she was watching a play and she hated that.

"Sam's trying to help me, don't blame him." Jacob defended Sam, he narrowed his eyes at Bella. The urge to protect his alpha was strong. Eden began to feel like she didn't belong, the situation between Jacob and Bella was too intense for her and she hated it.

"Then who?" Bella asked worriedly, Eden seriously wanted to throw up. It's supposed to be her who worried for Jacob, not damn Bella. But they were friends and the two soulmates haven't even said a word to each other. Eden doesn't fit in the mix and she's slowly began to realise that.

"How about those filthy, reeking bloodsuckers you love? The Cullen's and that girl that's standing right next to you, listening to every single word." Jacob said with bitterness seething in his voice. Even though the words he said felt like a knife was stabbed into Eden's heart, she stayed quiet, observing the scene that was happening and ignoring the urge to shift.

"I-I don't know what you're-" Bella began as her heart started to beat faster but she got cut off by Jacob. Bella seemed thrown back by the words he was saying, "You know exactly what I'm talking about." He sneered.

He started to shake, almost convulsing with anger. Eden recognised the signs of shifting, her eyes widened as the urge to comfort Jacob was becoming strong but the urge to protect Bella was also becoming strong. She was in a conflict, and before she can act Bella stepped away from Jacob and moved closer to her for protection. Eden looked at Jacob worriedly as she shielded Bella away from him, from her soulmate.

"The Cullen's are long gone- except Eden but she's good, she's here to protect me, she's my friend. How are they to blame?" Bella questioned confused, but still emphasising on the word friend. It warmed Eden's cold heart but she honestly felt like slapping everyone here, right now. The sudden wish that she never met Bella, even the Cullen's was running through her mind. She should've never turned to Edward for help when she first shifted.

But without doing all of that she would've never met Jacob.

"Jacob," Sam spoke out from the porch, Jacob glanced at Sam, who gave him a look. The wolf took a deep breath, to try to calm himself. The urge to comfort him was too strong for Eden, she took a step towards him but Bella stopped her before she could take another. Surprisingly, Eden was thankful. She didn't want to do something she'd regret and she guesses that whatever she was about to do, she probably was going to. Jacob as if sensing what she was going to do, looked at her. He had a warning look in his eyes, as if to tell her to not go near him and this hurt her.

"I can't be friends with you anymore," Jacob said, taking deep breaths as he kept eye contact with Eden before looking away.

"Jake, I know I hurt you. I should have been more up-front.  I needed you, I still do. I don't know what that means yet, but if you give me time-" Bella began, Eden let out a quiet growl, knowing that she was implying to Jacob to give her time and then Bella would return his feelings. Maybe she shouldn't have been so confident in Bella. Eden swore in her mind and clenched her teeth. She didn't know when was the right time to speak.

Jacob's eyes softened before looking at Eden once again, as if her presence reminded him that she was there, and he couldn't be with Bella.

"Stop, don't. It's not you-" Jacob started to say before he got cut off, "It's not you, it's me?" Bella rolled her eyes and sneered. Overall Eden was currently hating her life right now, her closest friend and her soulmate else just met were in a conflict where romantic feelings her involved, and she wasn't exactly being acknowledged aside from the deep stares Jacob would give her every one in a while- whatever they meant.

"It's true- I'm not good." He said, struggling. Eden knew he was trying to ignore her, despite the glances. She also knew that Bella finally recognised something was going on between Eden and Jacob from the look she gave her, but Jacob is one of her best friends and she isn't going to lose him.

"You're wrong-" Bella began to say but once again, she got cut off, " It doesn't matter. This is over-" Jacob started to say but Bella used his move, "I can't take losing my best friend, too." Bella cried out. "You already have Eden and-" Jacob began before Bella interrupted him again , "Don't say that- you promised-"

''Bella, lets go" Eden softly said, her throat felt scratchy from not speaking in a while and it hurt her throat. Bella looked at Eden with a frown and nodded whilst Jacob froze upon hearing her voice for the first time. He looked deeply into Eden's golden eyes before frowning, Eden couldn't read him, she couldn't tell what his was thinking but somehow she understood, there isn't going to be such a thing of Eden and Jacob, together as one.

"Go home, Bella. Don't come back. And whatever we had going on before is over." Jacob muttered, still looking Eden with a frown before jogging towards his friends, joining the pack who all disappeared inside the house. Bella and Eden stood in the rain, all alone.

~~~EDEN WAS NOT around when the Cullens first arrived in Forks, she HAS HEARD about the treaty from Rosalie, she does not remember it until she smells wet dog lmao.
