TW: suicidal thoughts by Edward

i care for you still
and i will forever

EDWARD WALKED DOWN A SEEMINGLy endless corridor, he finally reached a set of intricately carved double doors, as he stood in front of it, the doors slowly opened for him. He entered, finding himself facing three wooden thrones, sitting on the thrones were the ancient Volturi; Aro, Marcus and Caius. If he had a beating heart, the sight of them would've made it skip a beat.

Aro wore an expensive, contemporary, black Italian suit. Long black hair in a loose ponytail that ended to his waist. The cold, heartless vampire was watching Edward like a hawk, his dark red eyes narrowing at him.

"Have you decided?" Edward questioned, he felt nervous but he couldn't bare to live in the dark, horrible world without his cousin and Bella who were six feet under. He longed for death and without them two, there was no reason for him to further exist.

"It was an intriguing debate. We don't get many suicidal vampires." Aro admitted, as he gave Edward a dark smile and let out a chuckle.

"Pathetic." Caius sneered, glaring at Edward like he was a cockroach. The heart-broken vampire simply ignored him and continued to look at Aro in the eyes, a sign of disrespect. He hoped it would push Aro to end him.

"I'm afraid your gifts are too valuable to destroy- but if you're unhappy with your lot, join us. We'd be delighted to utilize your skills." Aro offered, giving Edward a bright dark grin, showing his sharp white teeth. This wasn't what Edward wanted, the Volturi weren't giving him what he needed.

"So you won't end this?" Edward questioned, he just wanted to die- to no longer further exist in this cold, dark world. He would do anything to reunite with his innocent Bella, and his pure cousin who the world and him included, treated her too harshly.

"Not without cause." Marcus replied, finally speaking with a bored tone. Edward registered this, realising what needs to be done. He nodded towards the three and stalked off, not be forcing hearing Aro mutter three words that he believed with all his core.

"Such a waste." Aro muttered, the other two agreeing.

...

Bella and Eden waited impatiently at the curb. The silence between the two was awkward. During the ride Eden barely spoke but she didn't care. The thought of Jacob alone back in Forks, crying hurt her. It broke her and she regretted ever leaving and taking his heart with her, but she knew what needed to be done. She couldn't let her last blood relative die by the hands of those greedy snakes.

The awkward silence finally ended once a yellow Porsche with darkly tinted windows screeches to a halt in front of them. It brought Eden out of her sorrowful thoughts. The passenger door opened and Alice was behind the wheel, pulling off the chic, white hooded coat she used for protection. Bella and Eden climbed in.

Edward was probably minutes away from hours or minutes away from exposing himself, and getting killed by the Volturi. She hoped they'll make it in time and stop himself before he could.

"Where'd you get the car?" Bella questioned, looking at the beautiful car in awe. Eden continued to stare outside the window, she felt empty due to leaving Jacob but yet she was still nervous and anxious to make it in time for Edward. Her life was in shambles, for the first time she wished she was back in the cave, hidden away in the mountains where she only felt anger and quietness surrounding her.

"Hope you're not opposed to grand theft auto."

"Not today." Bella swiftly replied. As soon as Bella replied, Alice floored it and the car zoomed out. After thirty minutes of Alice's crazy driving and silence, it seemed as though Bella had enough.

"How much time do we have left?" Bella squealed out as Alice missed another car.

"He's waiting till noon, when the sun's at it's highest." Alice informed Bella. Alice glanced at Eden in the mirror and frowned once she noticed the bags under Eden's eyes. Eden met Alice's golden eyes before looking away, she thought back when she forgave her in Bella's kitchen, she had also warned her that despite forgiving her, she can never forget what they had done to her. Eden liked to think of herself as cold-hearted and emotionless but ever since she had returned to Forks it seemed as though she was in fact the total opposite, her emotions were always taking over her and controlling her.

"He's going to make the Volturi change their minds." Alice spoke, somehow driving faster then before. Eden looked back at the window as she remembered how multiple times in her childhood, Edward had protected her from her fathers harsh and brutal beatings. How he had promised to always protect her, although had broken it once he was a vampire and she had accidentally committed her first kill when she was just 17, forcing her to shift into a were-coyote, and thus began her journey with the Cullens. Edward had looked at her like she was a monster when she ran to him for help, she remembered as he looked at her hands that had blood all over them and how Carlisle had taken him away before he could lunge at her. He didn't have control over his thirst at the time, and when he had returned once Eden was clean, he looked at her as if she was a monster, like she had purposely meant to trigger her shift.

Looking back now, Eden knew that Edward was just self projecting. She knew that her 17 year old self was not a cold hearted monster who killed every human that she laid her eyes on- like the Cullens had originally believed at the time, but yet it, due to the current circumstances she felt like she was. Her own soulmate begged her not to leave him, and she still did. He told her if she left him, Jacob and Eden would no longer further exist, and yet she still did. Maybe this was karma biting her back in her ass from the very few kills she had committed, or maybe she just didn't deserve love.

"It's almost noon now." Bella said anxiously as she looked at her watch. The human brought Eden out of her dark thoughts, and she focused on her surroundings, realising where she was and the sad memories that linked to the area.

"There's Volterra." Alice pointed out, she drove slower once she saw the narrow, centuries old streets that were crowed with festival revellers who all wore red. They were heading towards the town square, carrying red pendants, balloons, and scarves. The Porsche started to weave through them, hurrying forward. Now that she knew Edward was nearby, her porcelain hands were holding the car door handle harshly, itching to leave and look for her cousin.

"Why are they all wearing red?" Bella blurted out, it seemed as though the thought had been going through her mind once she saw the colour red everywhere.

"San Marcos Day festival. The perfect setting, large crowds..." Eden replied before quietly trailing off, this was the perfect opportunity for Edward to expose himself to thousands of humans.

"The Volturi won't let him get far away enough to reveal himself- he's counting on that." Alice revealed nervously. Eden nodded in agreement and analysed the crowed.

"We only have five minutes-" Bella began but stopped once the car screeched to a halt at a road block. As soon as the car stopped, Eden jumped out of the car, itching to go find her cousin and save him before he could commit the act that would have severe consequences.

"Where's the square?" Bella rushed out, her hair waving around everywhere as she turned around, looking for the square.

"Follow that lane-" Alice started but Bella had already started to run. "He'll be under the clock tower!" Alice yelled out and looked at Eden expectedly who starting to follow the human. Alice turned behind her and saw a figure in a black hooded overcoat, leaping from building to building, tracking Bella.

"Keep Bella safe." Alice yelled out to Eden. She began to run faster once she also noticed the figure in the black hooded overcoat and thanks to her supernatural speed, Eden catched up to Bella quickly. They both raced down the cobble stoned alleys, Bella stumbled on the uneven stones as Eden ran swiftly and smoothly.

As they neared the square, the alley became more populated, making Eden agitated. She pushed through passed people, who cursed at her once she continued to run past them. They soon emerged into a sea of scarlet flags, dresses and jackets. On the other side of the crowded square was the Clock Tower. It read one minute before noon. Eden narrowed her eyes at them and battled her way through the square whilst shoving people out her way. Bella was close behind her, and soon they found themselves blocked by a water fountain. As if things couldn't get any worse, the closer tower bells chimed; it was noon. Eden's heart dropped as she looked at Bella who was staring back at her with wide eyes.

"Just jump in." Eden told Bella. Bella nodded and the two jumped into the fountain. Eden moved through the shallow water to the other side, the two girls swiftly jumped out and barreled through the crowd. Finally they saw Edward, in the shadows, just inches from the light. The sight made Eden's heart drop, she moved faster.

"Edward!-" Eden cried out with Bella but the chime of the clock tower drowned them out, but the were-coyote was stubborn, she still fought. Bella pushed towards him, fighting to reach him while Eden shoved people out of Bella's way. The two were in a rhythm, with Eden harshly shoving people out of their way and Bella screaming out Edward's name as they ran.

Eden looked up at Edward and saw him unbutton his shirt, exposing his chest. He had his eyes clothes and it seemed as though her was welcoming death. Eden froze as the vampire took a step into the sunlight, the rays hitting his shoes, but before the sun touched his skin, Bella slammed into him. It seemed as though while Eden was frozen into her step, Bella had continued to run after him.

"No, Edward! Don't!" Bella cried out. Edward opened his eyes and looked at Bella as the clock booms it's final chime. He was staring into his human lovers eyes as if he couldn't believe Bella was in front of him. Eden began to move and soon she was right beside him. Her cousin was alive and save.

"Carlisle was right.. heaven.." Edward mumbled happily. For the first in a while since Eden has seen him, she's never seen Edward that happy.

"No, I'm here, I'm alive." Bella told Edward, she stepped closer to him but he just shook his head in confusion, "You're.. not real."

"Look at me! Alice was wrong." Bella frustratedly said. The were-coyote didn't know how Edward could be this daft. He could just listen to Bella's beating heart. Edward softened his gaze, she was real.

"Bella?" He said before looking at Eden who was standing right besides him with a relieved smile, "Eden?"

"Please, step back. I'm alive, I'm-" Bella began to beg but Edward suddenly kissed her, stepping back into the shade. They soak into each other like they've been separated for a thousand years. Edward pulled away and looked at Bella as Eden watched them awkwardly, she longed for the warmth touch of Jacob.

"You're here."

"I'm here." Bella replied with a grin, Edward leaned down, he was about to kiss her again when suddenly Eden abruptly pushed Edward and Bella behind her, taking a protective stance in front of them. They face the dark alley that runs under the clock tower. Out of the alley emerged two figures in hooded overcoats. Both stunningly handsome males in their twenties which Eden recognised; Felix, huge and strong and Demetri, slender, and elegant. Both have unsettingly huge dark red eyes. Demetri was staring coldly at Eden with a cold smile, she froze. Memories of the two together swirled through her mind, memories of the two under the moonlight touching each other with soft sweet whispers were echoing, and memories of his harsh cold hands brutally laying on the side of her soft face as his harsh words hit her ran through her mind. She had completely forgotten about the guy who had once stolen her heart and fed the Cullen's lies that had made them believe she was a cruel killer, just like how he was.

"I won't be needing your services after all, gentleman." Edward said, gently moving Eden behind him who just growled and glared at the two vampires with her alarmingly bright blue eyes. Edward knew of her history with Demetri, it seemed as though he now knows of that leeches lies that had once corrupted the Cullen's.

"Aro wants to speak with you again." Felix informed the three. Eden didn't acknowledge him, she was glaring at the vampire beside him who kept his eye on Eden. She bared her sharp teeth at him, an act that she would've once never had committed to him.

"Now, now Eden, we wouldn't want to do something we would regret" Demetri's rough voice echoed throughout the alley, his tone was cold. Eden could sense anger underneath his words but she didn't care. The man who caused the Cullen's to trap her in a dungeon that was in a cave hidden away through mountains  was right in front of her, and she was just itching to tear him apart.

"No rules were broken." Edward told them, frowning whilst Demetri's smile suggested he didn't agree. He was way more gracious of the two but he was no less dangerous and Edward knew that from personal experience.

"We should take this conversation to a more appropriate venue." Demetri suggested with a smile, he moved his eyes away from Eden and instead laid them on Bella with interest, which didn't go unnoticed by Edward.

"Fine, girls, why don't you stay and enjoy the festival?" Edward said the two girls who were standing behind him. Eden looked at Bella and she could just smell the fear off of her, guilt warmed into her. She hadn't noticed the human was afraid.

"The girls come with us." Felix coldly disagreed.

"That's not going to happen-" Edward began to say before Alice suddenly appeared, lightly walking through the alley towards them, pulling the back of the hood of her white coat.

"Come on, guys, it's a festival" Alice said smiling, she reached Edward, Bella and Eden, positioning herself in a protective stance as well. Eden felt herself smirk once she saw Demetri's cold grin disappear, a sneer replacing it. It seemed as though the idea of Eden being in good terms with Alice hadn't crossed his mind.
