Draco POV

I got to the bottom of the astronomy tower staircase and just stared at the dark floor. I let my mind wonder as I went through what just happened.

I remember reading something about mind control. The ability of vampires and hybrids to control the mind of a human simply through eye contact. The only way to block the compulsion is to either drink or wear a herb. Vervain. And thats exactly what Lilith did to me.

How stupid would I have been to go up to a hybrid without vervain, I slipped it into my morning coffee before heading up to the astronomy tower this morning just incase I encountered Lilith.

Still staring at the floor I hesitated deciding wether I should run up to confront her or go along with her plan. I was frightened of her, but I felt drawn to her. Every time I thought of her I got a weird tingle in my stomach, my hands would go sweaty and my heart rate would speed up.

I wanted to find out more about her. Many minutes went by as I continue to stare down at the floor until I heard I deep voice echo from down the hallways.

"Malfoy!"

My eyes shot up and meet Zabini', my lips spread into a thin line as I see the book he his holding in his hands.

"Mate, I think you might have left this behin-" before Blaise could even finish his sentence I already paced up to him.

"What the hell you doing?" A stern expression filled my face.

"You left it in the dormitory a-" Blaise hesitated before continuing. "Its only a stupid book. calm down, yeah?"

Its more important then that but there was no way I would let Zabini know, he would only want to know why. My hands folded info a fist shape. "Yes, now get your filithy hands off it." I tried to snatch the book out of his hands but Blaise tighter his grip.

"Why do you need it?" Blaise voice over powered.

"No reason, hand it over." My palm were getting sweaty and the anger was building up inside me.

"All right. Chill, Have fun reading your little book, mate." A snarky giggle formed out of Blaise's mouth before turning on his heal.

"Did you read it?" I blurted out.

Blaise slowly turned around. "No, it looked boring." then continued to walk down the corridor.

My hands were still sweaty shrugging to keep a hold of the book. I was not trusted with the book, I had to return it to Lilith.

~*~

It was now 10 past 10 and I was still hesitant wether to go back up to Lilith. She still has not left the astronomy tower since she compelled me to leave. The book was tucked under my arm as I quietly and careful made my way back up to the astronomy tower. A few time on my way up I stopped to think if this was the best idea, sneaking up on a hybrid. I keep taking a deep breath and repeated 'I wouldn't hurt anyone.' of course she wouldn't hurt anyone. Its Lilith.

As I got to the finally turning of the staircase my legs came to a stop, I didn't want them to stop but they froze. My legs started shaking as nerves filled my body. I was scared.

I forced my legs to get into action but struggled to get up the last few stairs. I let out a weak cough in the entrance of the tower. Lilith's puffy eyes slowly lifted off the floor and she took in a heavy breath. She stood up to her feet and quickly held onto a metal barrier to keep herself upright, she wiped the remanding tears on her cheek and looked at me in distress. She open her mouth to say something but no syllables came out.

I knew exactly what she was going to ask me, how I managed to block the compulsion so I decided to answer for her. "I drank vervain."

Lilith closed her eyes and nodded sheepishly. I took a few steps closer.

"Tell me. What is it like?" I pleaded. I tired to stay calm and relaxed hoping it wouldn't make her still on edge, but deep down I was terrified of her.

She gave me a small smile. "Its amazing." She paused. "most of the time." Her smile fades and a confused expression crossed my face.

"Most of time time?" I asked. I wanted to know everything. even if that meant me getting hurt.

"Yeah, I mean, it comes with its challenges." she looked more comfortable now and relaxed.

I took three more step toward her, by this time we were standing side by side. I was staring out towards the Hogwarts grounds trying not to make me standing next to her a big deal. Lilith let out a hopeful sigh before turning the same direction.

I crossed my arms and leaned on the metal railing still having the book tucked in between my chest and arm. "D-Does thats that mean you live... for eternity?" I looked up from the view to face her. I had never been so close to her, I had always seen her from a far view. The more I looked at her the more details I noticed.

"Yes." She replied. turning her head to face me.

"When you can live forever what do you live for?" Regret filled my body as Lilith's facial expressions changed. She was looking for an answer, she was biting down softly on her bottom lip and softly playing with one strand of her hair nervously.

"I- I don't know." Her eyes began to glaze over as she scrunched her nose up and turned her head back to the view of the Hogwarts grounds.

I racked my brain to think of more questions to ask to fill this awkward silence. "How old are you?"

Lilith's voice bloomed and answered in much more confidence then before. "I'm 15, I will stop ageing at the age of 18." Lilith's breath became steady and she was no longer shaking. "Malfoy-"

"You can call me Draco." I interrupted. Lilith faced me again and blinked in shock.

"well then, Draco," A small grin appeared on her face. "promise me, you won't tell anyone. This has to stay between you and me..." The thought of her saying you and me made me feel different as though it was something I had been waiting for her to say. "can I trust you?" Lilith voice turned stern and her face looked emotionless.

"You can trust me." A big smile appeared across Lilith's face. "H- How have you been... uhh... y'know... uhh feeding?" I dreaded to know the answer.

"Dumbledore. He gave me blood bags."

"What about since he left?"

Lilith's face fell sheepishly. "rabbits." She bit down on her bottom lip in embarrassment.

I scratched my the back of my head, searching for more questions. "Who else knows?" I ask.

"Dumbledore." she paused as she blinked her eyes quickly to push back the tears. "And now you."

I looked at her hopelessly, I started feeling more uncomfortable the more she tried to hid her emotions. No one has ever really opened up to me, I have always been by my self.

I looked down at the book still wedged between my chest and arm. I grabbed it slowly being careful not to make any sudden moves. "I think this belongs to you." A small smile appeared across Lilith's face as I gently handed her the book.

We both froze. Silence fallen upon us.

Breaking the silence Lilith responded "T-Thank you." Her smile had faded as she looked clueless around the room.

Without thinking words poured out my mouth. "You know, I could help you."

Lilith snapped her head back quickly towards me. "You would?" Confusion spread across her face. "You do know that I'm dangerous, right?"

Of course I did. I mean, it what would be fun. "Yes." I replied while giving her a hopeful smile. "After all, you did save my life."

Lilith's eyes brighten and she bit back her smile. "Thank you." She responded once again.

We both turned back out towards the view of Hogwarts and said nothing, but the silence could speak a thousand of words.
