8. Our Town

Melissa

You know how I like to start off my morning... by kicking new hybrid ass. You're probably wondering why, well you see me and Nik are trying to find Stefan. So pretty much finding Stefan equals finding the coffins. I'm preparing for whatever is to come since last time the Mystic Falls gang was up to something. They awoke Mikael and brought him to Mystic Falls to kill Nik, so I'm not taking any chances.

Mikaelsons have a lot of enemies, it comes with being the most powerful family in the world. This morning, Klaus was fixing up the house while he left me in charge of training his hybrids, which I was very excited about. I was about to have too much fun with this.

"Okay, look part of being hybrid is having control of your abilities. Since you're sired to Klaus, you need to know how to protect yourselves. Now, come at me." I said and they looked at me nervously.

"Are you sure?" One of the hybrids said nervously.

"Yeah I'll go easy on you, now show me what you got." They came at me with full force, one tried to punch me and I threw them into the wall. Another tried to kick me but I ducked, we continued to throw kicks and punches until I took their arm behind their back. More came and kicked me and I threw them into each other, they grunted in pain as they fell to the ground.

"And that is how it's done. Better luck next time." I waved back at them.

As they tried to get up, one of them asked "I thought you said you were gonna go easy on us."

"I did." I walked over to Klaus and he looks over at his hybrids.

"Well, I guess the training went badly." As he looked around at them.

"They'll be fine, they just need more practice. Anyway, this is good practice for when I kick Stefan's ass."

He just gave me a strange look. "What? He took the coffins with your siblings in them, he won't get away with that. Actually, can I spare against you?"

When I said that, he looked at me like I was crazy. "Seriously"

"Yeah, it'll be like old times when we use to spare together."

"Now I'm a hybrid."

"And I'm a 900 year old vampire witch. So what? Are you scared that I may beat you?" I teased.

He looked kinda of offended by my comment "Me, lose to you. You're out of your mind."

"Okay, then show me what you got." I challenged him. I came at him with full force and threw a punch at him, he ducked it. We threw punches and kicks at each other, ducking and missing them. I ran at Klaus at full speed and pushed him to the ground. We rolled on the floor, trying to win the fight.

I eventually got the upper hand when I kicked him in the stomach and tackled him to the ground "I win." I cheered as I got up.

"Well, you definitely gotten stronger in the last couple centuries, I wasn't expecting that." I said to me.

"Well, you would do better to not underestimate me, Nik." I said

Nik went to get Rebekah's coffin and opened it and said "Sweet dreams, Rebekah." Mindy came over and he said "Show her to her room, would you, love?"

"Sure" she said and left the room with Rebekah's coffin.

"I'm surprised you're still in town. I gave you your freedom, you could have gone anywhere." Klaus said as Stefan leaned on the doorway.

"I live here, Klaus." Stefan said.

"Well, if we're playing this game, then...I was here first."

"You know, I don't like your hybrid friends. They're everywhere kinda of like fleas, I want them gone."

"Yeah, well I kinda of like having them around. You know, I'm hurt. I hoped that when I freed you, we pick up where we left off. But here you are guzzling vervain like the rest of them, I'm sure. So much for friendship."

"Friends don't strip you of their free will."

"Okay, granted that was a little extreme, but I get a little moody."

"A little moody?" I intruppted.

"Just ask my siblings. Speaking of whom, isn't it time you handed them over." Klaus said completely ignoring what I said.

"Klaus, get your hybrids out of Mystic Falls or I'll remove them myself."

"Hmm you see if you continue to threaten me, I gonna be forced to retaliate. Kill people and it will get messy."

"Do whatever you want, I really don't care. You know what? Maybe I do? I care so much that, I'll throw Elijah in the Arctic." Stefan said with a wicked smile on his face, which was going to make me kill him at this moment.

"Well, maybe I'll be willing to lose one brother if it meant killing yours." Are you freaking kidding me, right now? He just talked about how he wanted to get his family back, now he's willing to let Elijah drown in the Arctic.

"Try me, let's find out."

Mindy walks in and asked "Is everything okay?"

"Everything is fine, Mindy. Stefan is just leaving after failing to make his point."

Stefan stands there for a minute and then grabs a saw from the table and cuts Mindy's head straight off. "Well, one down. You may want to, ah send the rest of them away before it gets messy, again." Stefan leaves and lays the saw down on the table which is good because any longer I was gonna show him what messy really looks like.

Klaus stood there with a mischievous smile on his face which made me curious. "What are you thinking?" I asked him.

"Stefan wants a fight, so I'm gonna give it to him." This made me nervous but even more curious.

"Well, then I think that a visit to the founder's council would suffice." I said with a smirk on my face.

"The founder's council?" He questioned.

"The people who founded the town, it is all of their descendants. I've learned a lot about this town in so little time." We left the house and went to Wickery Bridge Restoration Fundraiser at the meeting hall. I thought it be a great way to meet the leaders in this town and also we need them to be on our side which is our main goal.

We walked in the building and I saw the mayor. I said to Klaus "Look over there" I pointed at the mayor "That's Carol Lockwood, the mayor. Tyler told me about her, that's his mother. If you get her on your good side, you pretty much have the entire town wrapped around your finger."

He looked shocked at me "And you found out all of this in how many days?" He asked me.

"Like to know my opponents. Rule number one, always know your enemy, you taught me that. Now, go over there and work your charm. You have a way with words." I said to him and he looked impressed. Klaus walked over to her and started a conversation.

I walked around the place and mingled, introducing myself when I saw Damon start to walk over to Klaus and Carol. I decided I needed to join the conversation.

"Look at what the cat dragged in, nice vest." Damon said to Klaus.

"Thank you very much, good to see you, Damon. Carol and I were discussing about whether you would be the other big benefactor." Nik said to Damon, who seemed to be trying to
him.

"What do you say, Damon? Klaus has made a very generous offer. You know how we're chomping at the bit to begin the renovation." Carol said.

"Carol, don't take this the wrong way but do you realize that you've been kissing the ass of an immortal hybrid who ruined your son's life?" Damon questioned which is gonna get his head across the room.

"Oh, come on. Some would say that I saved him from all that nasty full moon business. I never had to go through it myself more than twice, to be honest but still I'm sympathetic. " Klaus said with an undertone of sarcasm because he wasn't sympathetic. Only on the very few occasions which don't happen often.

"Klaus has promised to protect Tyler, Damon and this town." Carol said with a worried look on her face.

"From who? His hybrids are the ones this town needs protecting from." Damon says as his angry slowly rises.

"Well, I'd have no use for them if your brother would kindly return my family." Klaus replied back but he was getting a bit irritated.

"Not gonna happen."

"That's what I thought, which is why I've come to an agreement with the mayor. You and the council stay out of my hair, I stay out of yours. Your town gets protected, my hybrids left alone and everyone is happy. All you have to do is get Stefan to stop decapitating my friends." Klaus said putting the cap on the master plan.

"Please Damon, just get your brother under control, or the Council will be forced to take action against him." Carol said which me excited.

"You've gotta be kidding me!" Damon said with irritation and angry in his voice.

"Oh, we're not. Stefan is already on my hit list, you don't want to join it and trust me: I'm not kidding." I growled at Damon showing my fangs so he would get the point.

"Oh come on, mate. Give peace a chance." Klaus said to him with a smirk.

Damon left the room after that.

"That was brilliant, I forgot how good you are at this." I said to him

"Well, you gave me the information I needed and I took it from there."

"We make a good team."

"Yeah, just like old times. You sign the check then we're gonna head out." I went over to Carol to sign the check. After I finished, I went to look for Klaus.

I saw him with Damon yelling into the phone "Fine, I'll send them away. You win" Well, it doesn't look like things aren't going good.

"Stop the car, Stefan!" Klaus yelled into the phone. I heard from the other line on phone some brakes slammed. Klaus hung up the phone, furious. He started to leave the building and I said "So, I'm guessing that things didn't as planned."

"The hybrids have to leave." He sighed.

"Why? What happened? I thought things were going fine." I was very confused. What was so bad that Klaus is sending his hybrids out of town?

He said with anger in his voice. "Stefan was going to run Elena off a bridge and turn her into a vampire."

"Yeah, that is definitely a problem." I said trying my best to be sympathetic but it wasn't working. I mean Elena's death wouldn't be this worse thing possible just that there wouldn't be any more hybrids.

"Anyway, I have to go do something. I'll meet you back at the house." He left to go do whatever he was going to do. I went back to the house, the hybrids have already left. Klaus probably called them.

I just walked around the house looking at all the rooms. Didn't get the chance to do this before I stumbled upon Klaus's art room. I'm glad he's still painting, I walked around and saw a receipt for a fancy necklace and a note. I read the note that he wrote and I looked a little shocked. Klaus has a crush on Caroline, this is soo cute. I heard him coming this way.

"What's that in your hand?" Klaus asked as he walked towards me.

"Nothing. Just a little note about how you fancy Caroline." I teased.

"I was feeling benevolent."

"Since when are you benevolent to people who were involved with people who tried to kill you. Admit it, you like her."

"There's nothing to admit."

"Okay" I threw my hands up "But you'll have to admit it eventually." I went upstairs and relaxed and looked at my grimores. Where I had a surprising vision that could things into another direction.

I hope you all like this chapter. For some reason I had a lot of trouble writing this chapter and also school has been crazy. I'm going to try and put out chapters more regularly now. Also, thank you for getting me to 2.9k reads, it means soo much.😀😁
