12. All My Children

Melissa

I was walking downstairs looking for Rebekah, I went in the living room and saw Klaus and Kol. Klaus was drawing in his sketch pad and Kol sat there bored. "Have either of you two seen Bekah?" I asks.

"We haven't seen her but why are you looking for her?" Klaus said and continued his sketching.

"She probably with that Matt fellow." Kol snickers.

"Not after you crushed his hand." I pointed out.

"Rebekah said we were going to kill him and we didn't but I wanted to."

"Then the eldest Salvatore snapped your neck like a twig." Me and Klaus chuckled at this, Kol looked annoyed by this fact. I went and sat on the arm of Kol's chair.

Rebekah came in the room and Kol got up from his chair. Me and Nik looked in their direction, this was sure to be interesting. "Well, well, well, there's our girl. Melissa has been looking for you."

He stands in front of her and blocks her from going any further. "Get out of my way, Kol." She said slightly raising her voice.

"Out all night. What a scandal? I trust you did better than that commoner? Matt, was it?" He loved to tease her, it's quite funny at times.

"If you don't shut your mouth, the next thing that will coming out of it is your teeth." Me and Klaus grinned. She turned her attention to Nik "Don't start, Nik!"

"I didn't say anything." He said looking amused by the situation.

Kol laid back in his chair "I'm bored. Our sister's a strumpet but at least she's having fun. I need entertainment."

"What are you waiting for. Go on, have at it." Klaus said.

"It's not fun to go alone, join me Nik. It's the least you can after sticking a dagger in the heart." He said with a pouty look on his face.

"Okay, why not? I didn't nearly have enough to drink last night, what with you trying to murder Rebekah's date." They got out their chairs and headed towards the door.

"Yes, please go. This house has enough men rolling around in it." Rebekah called out.

Kol looked back at her and pointed at her "Just like you, Bekah."

She threw a shoe in his direction hit it hit the wall. "Good ridiance, both of you.

Elijah walked into the room with burnt sage which caught me off guard. I was walking over to him then Kol poked his head into the room and called out "Melissa, are you coming?"

"Yeah, I'll meet you there." I said back. I walked back to Elijah.

"Rebekah." He said.

Already looking irritated, she said "Not you too, Elijah."

"I'm worried about mother. Have you not noticed her strange behavior?" He questioned her.

"Has Melissa gotten this idea in your head? She's been dead for thousand years. What's strange for her?" She said.

"Burnt sage. She was doing a privacy spell." He handed her the sage. I examined it.

"This was used just a couple hours ago. If she doesn't have a secret vedenta, why else would she use this?" I questioned her.

"You know she fancies such things. Why don't you ask Finn? He's been doting her." She said, she was really trying to come up with any other reason for this.

"I don't trust Finn. He hates what we are, always has." Elijah said.

"That's not true. And as for mother, she returned for one reason, to make our family whole. She loves us. What trouble are you two looking for?"

"We're not looking for trouble, Rebekah. We're looking at the facts, your mother has been secretive since she got back and burnt sage is proof of that. You should watch your back." I said to her but it looked like she had enough.

"You two can think whatever you want but it isn't true. Our mother is being truthful." She walked off.

"I'm about to go. Elijah, can you let me know if you figure anything?" I grabbed my jacket.

"You will be contacted if anything arises." I left out the room and headed to the Grill. I walked in the place and it was packed. I saw Klaus and Kol in the back, sitting in chairs at the bar. I went back there and sat next to Kol.

"Hey darling, you're here just in time. We're about to get a round." Kol says to me. Klaus's attention turns to the door, Caroline just walked in.

"I remember her from last night. She looks like a tasty little thing." Kol said, so I hit his arm.

"You know, I'll rip out your throat, right?" I whispered to him.

"Jealous, are we?" Kol had a smirk on his face.

"Say another word, I'll tear out your liver." He said to Kol then he turned his attention to Caroline. "Caroline!" He called out to her.

"Oh, it's you." She said to him; not looking happy to see him.

"Join us for a drink?" Klaus asked.

"Mmm, I'd rather die of thirst but thanks." She said with a sassy tone and walked to the door.

"Isn't she stunning?" Nik said looking at her walking away. His eyes were practically light up, I haven't seen him like that in a long time.

"She certainly looks good walking away from you." Kol teased.

"I'll take that as a challenge." He puts his drink on the table and went after her.

Me and Kol were sitting there drinking and my phone started to ring: It was Elijah. I got up from my seat and went into an alleyway next to the Grill.

Elijah: We have a problem.

Melissa: Can you be more specific, Elijah?

Elijah: We were right about my mother.

Melissa: She's not here for peace, she's here to kill. Niklaus?

Elijah: Not just him.

Melissa: She wants to kill you all. What are we going to do?

Elijah: Rebekah has Elena in the caves under the town. Is there anyone at the Grill with you who's working with the Salvatores?

Melissa: Alaric, that vampire hunter.

As I said that my words started to slow, I realized what this meant. I ran back inside but I didn't see him there; I didn't see Kol either. I ran back outside and saw on the other end of alleyway: Alaric was carrying a daggered Kol out the building, meeting with the Salvatores.

I threw Alaric into the wall, Stefan tried to attack me but Klaus knocked him to the side. I undaggered Kol, and he starts to regain conciness.

Klaus grabs Damon and holds him against the wall "I should have killed you months ago."

"Do it. It's not gonna stop Esther from killing you."

"What did you say about my mother?"

"You didn't know I was friends with your mummy? We have a lot in common. She hates you as much as I do." When Damon said that Klaus was ready to attack him. Then Elijah appeared at the top of the stairs.

"Leave him! We still need them, brother." Elijah called down to him. Nik didn't want to let go of him but did for Elijah.

He asked his brother repeatedly "What did mother do? What did she do, Elijah?"

Elijah walked down the stairs with his phone in his hand "You tell me where the witches are or I'll have my sister kill Elena." Elijah told the Salvatores which is pretty good motivation for them.

Damon looked at the clock tower so naturally my eyes followed his:

It was 8:30. "You told me: we had until after nine." Damon said.

"I'm sure Rebekah will be more than happy to start her work early." Elijah smirked knowing they would do what was needed to be done.

The Salvatores sped away. Me, Klaus, and Elijah where all standing there in the alleyway and Kol stood up and asked "Can someone please tell me what the bloody hell is going on?"

We all looked in his direction and Elijah started to explain the situation at hand. "So, our mother came back from the dead to kill her children...Splendid." Kol said with such sarcasm.

"We will be fine as long as the Salvatores do as I asked." Elijah said to him.

"So what if they find the witches, they won't stop the spell." Klaus told him.

"They couldn't stop spell even if they wanted." I said and everyone turned in my direction and stopped walking.

"What do you mean?" Klaus questioned.

"I mean, Esther is channeling their entire line of witches. The only way to stop her is for..."

"One of the witches to not be a witch anymore." Kol said finishing my sentence.

"If we're lucky the Salvatores have figured that out and will get the job done. In the meanwhile, we can keep Esther occupied."

We hurried over into the forest near the old witch house where Finn and Esther were standing. That son of a bitch, he was always such a momma's boy but this was too much. They stood inside a pentagram with torches on the outside.

We walked up the hill leading to the pentagram. I stayed towards the back, I didn't want any trouble with her. Kol walked up to the torches: fire lit up from them and he was forced back.

"That's lovely. We're stuck out here while the favorite son plays sacrificial lamb. How pathetic are you, Finn?" Kol had such irritation in his voice.

"Be quiet, Kol. Your brother knows virtue that you cannot even imagine." Esther said to him.

"Whatever you think of us, killing your children will be an atrocity." Elijah says calmly as always.

"My only regret is that I didn't let you die a thousand years ago." Their mother is such a bitch, she reminds me of my mother who was also a bitch.

"Enough. All this talk is boring me. End this now, Mother, or I'll send you back to hell." Then there's Klaus who cuts straight to the point.

"For a thousand years, I've been forced to watch you. Felt the pain of every victim, suffered while you shed blood. Even you, Elijah, with your claim to nobility, you're no better. All of you. You're a curse on this earth. Stretched out over generations. If you've come to plead for your life, I'm sorry, you've wasted your time."

While she said this, I heard something in the old witch house, it was a very slight sound; I could barely hear it. I walked closer, still trying to stay hinded. She would kill me if she saw me.

I heard Bonnie and her mother walking down some stairs. Before I could do anything, Esther used her magic and pulled me to her. "Look what we have here; another abomination that you have created." She said to her sons. I had such hatred in my eyes for this woman if only she knew why.

"But you're a special kind of monster, aren't you? You carry the power of being a witch while being an abomination. Nature can't have such an imbalance, so we must set a balance." When she said this, we all looked in fear at one another as she lit up the torches with fire. I tried to move away but her spell held me close to the circle. I could feel the heat near my skin as she flung me into the air; right above the torches. I was soo close to the fire that I feared for my life.

While she is holding me up, I feel her power starting to weaken and she felt it too. "No! Sisters! Do not abandon me!"

"Mother!" Finn yelled as the flames from the torches grow bigger in a matter of seconds. The rest of the Mikaelsons cover themselves from the flames. The torches die down and I fell as Finn takes Esther and escapes the scene.

"Melissa! Are you okay?" Kol ran up to me and helped me get up.

"I'm fine. I mean this is the second time I've been almost killed by one of your parents. Other than that I'm fine." I said sarcastically; lighting the mood.

"Come on, let's go home." Kol put one of his arms around my shoulder as we walked home. Klaus and Elijah had already went back after making sure I was alright. We walked into the house and we started to walk upstairs; then I saw Elijah and Rebekah talking, so I walked over to them.

"I'll meet you in a minute " I said to Kol and then I turned my attention to Elijah. "You aren't leaving; Are you, Elijah?" I questioned.

"I'm afraid so. Esther and Finn are gone: she's going to come back and we have to be ready for her."

"So you're going to do research, you can do that here even I can help."

"You really would like for me to stay, wouldn't you?" He asked.

"We're stronger together than we are apart. We need to be as one with this new threat. So, will you please stay? Just until she is dealt with, then you can go as you please." I begged and I usually don't beg. We all just got back together as a family again, we can't just break apart after a few days.

Elijah contemplated for a minute, then he told me he would stay as long as I would help him with his research. I agreed and gave him a hug. I walked into the library where I saw Klaus and Rebekah were talking.

"I see you convinced Elijah to stay, what did you say?" Rebekah asked.

"Promised I would help with his research." I replied.

"Well at this rate, that's all we'll be doing."

"Why? What's going on? Other than the obvious." Rebekah showed me a video on her phone. It was of Elena in the caves.

"These are the drawings Elena showed us. Here are the natives worshipping the Great White Oak Tree." She pointed to on the screen.

"Bekah, you guys burned that tree to the ground." I replied not understanding what this all meant.

"Look at the markings that precede. It's a Native Calendar."

I looked more closely at the image and I couldn't believe my eyes. "Impossible" I was shocked.

"A White Oak Tree, three hundred years after we fled back to the New World. There must had been a sapling, a new tree to replace the old tree." She continued to talk but I interrupted her.

"That tree could kill you, it could kill you all." Rebekah and Klaus looked  worried but calmer than I expected  but I definitely wasn't as calm. I mean this one tree could kill the people I care about most. "What are we going to do?"

"For now nothing. One devil at a time, Melissa." She said to me.

I started to walk out the door and Nik called out "Where are you going? Out for another drink." He joked.

I fake laughed and said "Very funny, Nik. I'm just going upstairs."

"Upstairs to your boyfriend." Bekah teased, here we go again. "How are you two anyway? I've been expecting an update."

"Bekah, it's only been a day since you last asked."

Out of nowhere, Klaus said "Actually, I'm kinda of curious as well."

Bekah chuckled "Come on, even Nik wants to know."

"Well if you two are done with the teasing, I'm going upstairs." I waved at them as they continued to laugh and went upstairs to Kol's room.

"I was wondering when you get back." Kol said; he was laying on his bed and I gave him a kiss on the cheek and sat down.

"Yeah, a lot has happened, and there's more to come."

"Why? What's wrong?" He asked.

"There's another white oak tree."

"What? How is that possible?"

"That's what I said. It's here, somewhere in town."

"As if my mother wasn't enough, now we have this.

"When you're a powerful family, you don't get breaks. People are either trying to make you an ally in their war or take you down. You just have to deal with it." I layed down next to him on his bed.

"And how did you learn soo much on the subject?" He questioned.

"I have a great teacher." I smiled at him and he smiled. His smile melts my heart. He put his arms around me; pulling me into his chest, giving me kiss on the forehead.

"Are you okay?" He asked out of nowhere.

"Yeah, why do you ask?"

"Because my mother almost killed you."

"Kol, I can take a few hits. Actually, I can take a lot."

"Sorry, I just forget that you're..."

I interrupted and said "A 900 year old badass vampire witch."

"Hey. Don't get cocky."

"Says the King of Arrogance. Anyways, I could take you any day."

"You wish" he said back.

"You wanna bet?" We both started laughing like crazy.

"I missed you, you know that."

"I missed you too." We laid there together; just enjoying each other's company when Kol asked.

"When's the last time we've been like this?"

"Three centuries...Long time, even for a vampire."

"I guess we could just make up for lost time." He said with a seductive smirk on his face.

"Yeah... I like that idea." I cupped my hands around his face and I kissed him. He did the same to me and kissed me back. We pulled away for a second and looked at one another. We kissed again this time more passionately. My hands moved down to Kol's neck pulling him closer to me. His hands went to my waist holding me tightly. The kiss began to grow deeper as Me and Kol fought for domiance of the kiss.

I rolled over on top of him, running my hands through his hair as the kissed deepened. He pulled off my jacket and threw it to the side. My jacket hit the lamp and I chuckled. "Real smooth, Kol."

"Ah, Just come here." He pulled himself on top me and started to kiss my lips; slowly moving down my jawline to neck. I moaned as he left small kisses down my neck. I ran my hands roughly through his hair as he did so.

His hands travelled up and down my body; gripping firmly on my thigh. I ran my hands down his back; as I wrapped legs around his waist, bringing him closer to me.

We started to slowly rip off each others clothes one by one until there was nothing left.

Hope you all liked this chapter. Sorry I haven't updated in months; I have been having such writer's block on this chapter, and I've been really busy. This last scene took me forever to write; I've never written a scene like that before, but hopefully I'll get better at it. Tell what I could do to improve. Please vote and comment.
