13. Rebekah Road Trip

This chapter will be different from the main storyline of the show, but I thought it was interesting and different to put in. Hope you enjoy.

Melissa

I woke up laying next to Kol, I turned to him and smiled. I looked over at the clock; it is 6am. Why am I up soo early when it's not needed? "Babe"

He stretched his arms, "Morning darling" He said with his groangy morning voice.

"Why am I up so early?" I despise getting up early unless I need to get things. I prefer to sleep in and deal with my problems in the night.

"I don't know, especially after last night. I would think you would be sleeping in." He smirked wrapping his arms around my lower back, pulling me closer to him.

"Shut up" I pulled him closer to me with a sly grin across my face.

He smiled "This is nice."

"Yeah, just like old times. You remember when we were in Egypt helping out this coven. We were suppose to be helping them with their problems, but you didn't care; we spent the entire day in bed."

Flasback to 1653 Egypt

"Kol, we really need to get up. We promised to help them today." I repeated to him for hopefully the last time.

"You act like they're going to barge in, and drag us screaming and kicking if we don't come today."

"You don't know that." I tried to get up out the bed until his strong arms pulled me back onto the bed where I was laying on his chest.

"It's just one day. I want one day, alone with my girl. Is that too much to ask?"

"I guess not, but only for today. Then we will help the coven." He nodded in agreence to me as we cuddled all day long without a care in the world.

Flasback ended

"Until they came knocking on our door for an hour the next day; they were the pushiest coven we've ever dealt with. Anyway, I wanted a day with my girl." He pulled me for soft and gentle kiss.

"And I definitely enjoyed it." I bit my lip softly before leaning in for another kiss.

He pulled away before sitting up against the headboard "Can I ask you something?"

This immediately got my attention, so got up the give him my full awareness. "Yeah, anything. What is it?"

"Well, you know we have always talked about not moving backwards in our relationship."

"Definitely" I nodded in anticipation of what could be said next.

"And that's what we've been doing with telling Klaus about us, but there's something missing that would make everything just how it use to be." I hate when people draw out their points, it makes me nervous for what they are about to say.

"Can you just tell me already? The waiting is killing me." I have to learn to be more patient with people sometimes.

"Do you want to move into my room? I know you're probably thinking that living in the same house is enough. Maybe I'm moving too fast, but I mean we've literally been together for centuries except for the unexpected centuries apart. It's okay if you say no, I'll completely understand.." He just started to ramble on and one; his nervousness is too adorable to me.

To put an end to his blabbering, I said "Kol, shut up."

"What's your answer?" I could tell by the way he was looking at that he that he was anxious for my answer but he shouldn't be.

"If you would stop ranting, then I could tell you. Yes, I want to move into your room." We both sat there in silence for a few seconds before he began to talk again.

"Look, I get that maybe it was too soon..." I gave him a confusing look.

"Kol, I said yes." I repeated to him.

"You said yes.. you said Yes!" He said pulling me into the biggest bear hug. My face was stuffed into his chest with his arms around my back and mine around his. "You don't know how happy you just made me."

"I think I do considering that hug; you almost crushed me." I pouted

"I would never. I love you too much to ever hurt you."

"I love you too." Giving him a quick peck on the lips. "I should go put some clothes on." I got up and the sheets from the bed, wrapping them around myself.

"Just take one of my shirts, I don't want pulling off the sheets." He pointed to the closet as he chuckled at the sheets being pulled onto the floor.

"Right, thank you." I grabbed one of his big comfy shirts that goes to the middle of my thigh. I think I gonna have to keep this. I went to my room and put on clothes before me and Kol began to move my things to now our room.

I grabbed started to bring my clothes in while Kol put my books on the shelf next to the dresser. I looked at the closet realizing that I wouldn't have enough room.for my clothes. You accumulate a lot of stuff over 900 years. "Kol, I think I may leave my clothes in the other room. I don't want to take up all of your closet space."

"Why don't you just do that spell that we created?" He reminded me.

"Oh yes, How could I forget?" I started the spell immediately and made two closet that appeared side by side. One for me amd one for Kol.

After moving all my stuff into the room, I went downstairs. Klaus was tearing apart the study, making a mess of it too. Rebekah was standing behind him saying "It's not here, she must have took it with her."

"Bekah, what is going on?" I asked her as I was a little curious into why Nik was destroying the study which we then include the whole house if we don't stop him.

"We're trying to find my mother's grimore with the unlinking spell in it."

"Looking at Nik, it doesn't look like you're having much luck."

"I keep on telling him, it's not here but he won't listen to me." She raised her voice in his direction.

He got up and threw a grimore on the ground. "It has to be here, I don't need her planning anything while I'm still linked to our lunatic brother." He snapped back.

"Melissa, help us out here."Rebekah begged.

"Get me a map and something of your mother's." I said to them, they collected the items and brought them to me. I layed the map on the table and they brought one of her amulets.

"Okay, I'm gonna need some of our blood." I got a knife and sliced both of their wrist; letting the blood fall down on the map. I started to chant the spell; I focused on Esther's grimores. I closed my eyes to keep my focus. I opened up my eyes and looked at the map. The blood went to Nashville, Tennessee.

"Why would there be a grimore in Nashville?" Bekah asked.

"There's a witch coven there, she probably gave to them to keep it away from us." I replied.

"How would you know?" Klaus asked me.

"I lived there for about a year." I replied.

"Looks like we're in for a Rebekah road trip. Melissa, you in?" Bekah asked.

"Sure why not." I said shrugging my shoulders. We went and jumped in Rebekah's car. She said that she was driving because she was older; only by a century, but I am a much better driver. She goes 120mph and drives like a crazy person, but all of the Originals are reckless drivers except Elijah. Good thing I'm a vampire otherwise, I would be dead with her driving.

"Rebekah, if you're going to drive recklessly: you can at least turn on some music distract myself from you trying to kill us." I said and she started to get very excited which made me very nervous.

"I have a personal CD made: it has original songs written by me." She was practically jumping with excitement. On the otherhand, I was very curious to see what kind of songs she has written. She puts her CD in and something I did not expect came on, I can't believe she wrote something like this. She was singing along with it too.

She sang "Damon is dead, Damon is dead. Let's all say hoary; Damon is dead, Damon is dead. Let's all say hoary, Damon is dead."

"I wrote it after Damon was going let my family walk to our deaths."She was smiling soo hard, I couldn't believe my ears. So, when she's angry at someone: she writes a song about their death. Good to know.

"Oh, come on; Damon is my friend... sometimes. You should have wrote one about that Dopplebitch Elena dieing." I said to her "I mean she is the reason, you guys are linked together in the first place."

"Very true. I see that you don't like this song, but you are totally going to love the next one." She said. I'm not sure about that but I'll let her play the next song anyway. Her next song is even more shocking than the first.

"Stefan...Stefan...Stefan. We meet in the 20's and danced all night long. Then Mikael came to kill us all. Then I got daggered in the back; by my big brother, Niklaus, how about that." I sat there and just stared at her. She is crazy, she is crazy alright. There was more to the song but I couldn't stand to listen to it anymore.

I patted Rebekah on the shoulder and she turned in my direction. "Rebekah, we're best friends, right?" She nodded her head in response. "And best friends can tell each other anything, right?" She sat there confused but I continued "So, I'm going to say this as nicely as I can. If you don't turn that song off which is making me cringe from the inside out: I will rip your head off." I said very calmly.

She turned it off. " One question: that was nice."

"Yes, I said it calmly and my threat wasn't too outrageous." I could have said a lot worse, she shouldn't complain.

Bekah threw her palm in her face and sighed "You have been spending too much time with my brothers." She changed the subject and asked "How can you not like my songs? They are really funny and catchy." I intruppted her.

"Rebekah, please. Enough with the songs. You were probably really drunk when you wrote these anyway." She pouted and I relaxed back in my seat. We enjoyed the car ride for a little while: it was peace and quiet which I haven't had in a while.

"Okay, then since you don't want to listen to music, let's talk." She puts a huge grin on her face. I feel like I know where this going and I don't like it.

"What do you want to talk about?" I asked; already kinda of knowing the answer but wishing it was something else.

"Maybe your relationship with a certain brother of mine." She says with a smirk on her face. This is exactly the kind of conversation I wanted to stay away from. Why do we always have to talk about this?

"Oh, you know how about we talk about something else."

"Come on, you never talk to me about it."

"Because I'm dating your brother, and you're my best friend. It's kinda of weird." It wasn't weird, I just wished my relationship wasn't always a topic of conversation.

"You never thought it was weird before. Melissa, it's me, your best friend. You can actually tell me what's going on? I want to know everything." She said to me, she had a sympathetic look on her face.

"Look, Bekah; I know you mean well but I don't feel like talking about my relationship all the time."

"I'm sorry, I didn't realize. I just thought you wanted to talk about it."

"I'm still trying to figure out things; trying to get back to way things were, and you asking for daily updates isn't helping the situation." I calmly said

"I get it. I'm not helping."

"Why are you soo curious about my relationship anyway?" At this point, I kinda of snapped at her. This conversation is really frustrating me now.

"Because your relationship is soo perfect." Now that really fired me up. I just started yelling out of frustration.

"Perfect! We are far from perfect. How could you say that?"

"Maybe we should stop the car, you seem upset." She says with a worried tone.

"No, keep driving. I'm just frustrated that you actually thought that."

"How can I not? Your only problem was with Nik and now that's fixed." She does not know how wrong she is.

"You don't get to say that. You don't know what goes on behind closed doors." There is soo much be talked about between me and Kol even it doesn't feel like it.

"Okay, I'm sorry. I should know by now to not judge a book by it's cover. I didn't know that was how you felt."

"Well, it is. Enough about me, what about you? Any special guy in your life? Unlike you, I won't push you on the subject." I said trying to change the subject with a little humor.

"Well, I kinda of have this thing for Matt but.." She said shyly.

"But What?" I questioned.

"We did come up with a plan to kill him and Kol actually did try execute it. He probably hates our family now."

"That doesn't mean you can't change his mind." I suggested.

"How can I do that?" She questioned.

"By showing him the other side of yourself. Rebekah Mikaelson: the hopeful romantic, not the fire obsessed Original Vampire."

"I am not obsessed with fire, I am just fond of it."

"You always carry matches with you."

"I do not." She said in defense. I looked in her dash compartment and found a pack of matches. I waved it in her face. "In my defense, I forget I had thoses."

We both laughed at each other. I was about to throw the matches out the window, but Rebekah's hand stopped me. "We may still need thoses." She said which made me laugh even harder.

"How much longer do we have? I feel like I've been in this car for forever." I asked.

"We are almost there." She replied. After about 10 minutes, we were in Nashville. We parked near this store that was kind of hiding in the corner of the block.

"Where is this coven located anyway
?" Bekah asked.

"A couple blocks away towards the forest." I told her. We walked a while until we saw a group of women talking with another group behind them chanting around a fire. We were here. "Bekah, just follow my lead on this one. I know these people."

We walked over there towards them and the group of women stopped. One of them towards me, Maria: she had fiery red hair, green eyes. She is their leader. Me and her were good friends while I was here; it wasn't too long ago, just couple months ago.

"Melissa, what brings you back around? I thought you were just going to visit a friend." She said giving me hug which I returned.

"Well, things kinda of took a turn in a different direction. You know how that goes." I replied.

"Yeah, I know what you mean. What can I do you in for?" She has always had such a good attitude.

"Actually, we're here on business. Has Esther Mikaelson came by here any chance?"

"Yeah, she gave us one of her grimores. Fantastic, isn't it? I didn't even she was alive" She looked joyful having it in her possession. To have a grimore of Esther's is a big deal in the witch community. She's one the most powerful witches in the world.

"Yeah, she's back from the dead and that's great and all but we need that grimore. It is really important." I told her.

"To have one of her spell books is nearly impossible, and now you want me to give it to you." She started to get a little defensive but I had a bargain.

"I know how impossible it is. Which is why I brought a couple pages of spells that she has created. It is all yours if you give me the grimore."

"A chance like this only comes once in a lifetime. I will not give this up. We could become one of the most powerful covens in the world. People will finally respect us." She looked a little on edge at this point but I'm not leaving without that grimore.

"This is a thing of life or death right now. I need that grimore. I'm not leaving without it."

Then she got angry "No!" She started to chant a spell and Rebekah started to scream in pain.

"Rebekah! Stop it, right now!" I yelled at Maria but she didn't listen. Instead she started to chant at me and I got an enormous headache. I felt each blood vessel in my brain pop, one by one. The faster she chanted, the quicker they popped. Me and Rebekah started to fall to the ground; screaming in pain. The rest of the coven joined in one the spell which made it even worse.

I tried my best to stand back up, but the spell was getting too much. It looked like they started to slow down their attack, after seeing we were weaken by it; that's when I took the opportunity to get back. "Phasmatos Somnus" I shouted knocking a majority of the coven out. Maria and a few others were left standing.

"Maria, that wasn't a very smart move." I slowly walked towards her as I spoke. "I can be very patient until someone refuses to give me what I want. I need that grimore, and you just won't let it go, Maria. Now, I'm angry." With those words, I ran up to one of the witches and threw her at the tree.

Rebekah had fully regained her strength and went after the other witches. Her fangs were out and she was ready to fight. As for Maria, that bitch was mine and I'm not holding anything back. I ran at her, pushing her to the ground. I punched her in the face several times; she didn't really put up much of a fight but I had an unfair advantage.

I grabbed her by the collar of her shirt and yelled "Now, where is the grimore!" She didn't answer and I pulled her collar tighter and she started to choke. "Where is it?!?" I asked again and still she didn't answer. This time I bared my fangs and my eyes were blood red. I was ready to tear my fangs into her neck.

"If you don't tell me where it is, then me and my friend will drain everyone of their blood starting with you." Rebekah grabbed one of witches that was lying on the ground and pulled it to her: exposing their neck.

"Fine, I'll give it to you. As long as you put my friends down." She begged knowing she had no other option. I let her go; she grabbed the grimore and brought it to me. She gave me the grimore and said "I thought you said you don't like to hurt your own kind."

"I don't, but when they become an obstacle in my path; I need to take them out. Just because we're friends doesn't mean I won't run you down if you stand in my way." I moved away from her and called out."Rebekah, let's go. We're done here." We both left the forest and started to walk back to the car.

Rebekah had the keys in her hand and I grabbed them just as she was going to unlock the car. "I'm driving this time, you're a terrible driver."

"I am not. I have been driving since cars were created" She said trying to sound offended.

"But you've been a coffin for 90 years; you're little rusty." We got in the car and I gave Rebekah the grimore for safe keeping. I started driving back and then my phone started to ring: It's Kol.

Kol: Hey darling.

Melissa: Hey babe, we got the grimore.

Kol: I knew you would. Any complications?

Melissa: There always are, but nothing we couldn't handle though. Anyway, we're on our way back with the grimore perfectly safe in my hands; actually Rebekah's hands since I'm driving.

Kol: How was Rebekah at driving?

Melissa: Terrible! She drives like a maniac.

"Hey! I'm not that bad." Rebekah said.

"Yes, you are Rebekah." Me and Kol said at the same time.

Kol: Anyway, I'll see you when you get home.

Melissa: Bye Kol.

I hung up the call and I continued driving. Rebekah was staring at with a weird look her face. "What is it?" I asked.

"You two are soo cute even though you were making fun of me." She said.

"Ah, shut up." I playfully hit her arm. On the way; there was no arguing, just laughing at one another. We sang to the songs on the radio even though we can't sing. It was just good times. After driving for awhile, we finally arrived at home.

"Hello, everyone. We're home." Rebekah calls out but no one answers. We walked inside and saw the 3 Mikaelson brothers sitting in the living room discussing something, probably Esther.

"Well, finally that pesty grimore that has been giving us soo much trouble. Does it take all day to find one grimore?" Klaus said which made me and Rebekah roll our eyes. She handed the grimore to Elijah who was sitting in his chair.

"You think for someone who has saved your ass on more than one occasion; you would be more grateful." I said to Nik as he scoffed. That's Klaus for you.

"You should be grateful; Melissa is a badass. If it wasn't for her, we wouldn't have the grimore. She kicked that coven's ass. I still can't believe you were friends with that bitch."

"I know, hard to believe." I went over to Kol's chair and sat on the arm of it. "Okay, we got the grimore. What's next, Elijah?" I asked.

"Now, we need to find that spell Esther used to link us together. Melissa, I assume you will be involved in this process."

"Of course, Elijah. I made a promise. Anyway, you'll need a witch to perform the spell and I am more than willing to help take the bitch down."

"Are you always going to call my mother a bitch or is it just out of habit?" Rebekah questioned.

"I call them like I see them, and from where I'm standing; she's a bitch. Unless there's something else you call people who try to kill you for no reason." I smirked at Bekah as stood there speechless.

"Wow, was I daggered for that long or did you get snarker?"

"Bekah, I've changed. Now, we need to work together to take down your psychotic mother, so I'm sorry if I am a bit insensitive to your sympathetic feelings towards your mother."

"Well, it looks like we should go now. Elijah, Kol, care to join me for a drink." Klaus said as the brothers got out of their chairs and headed to the kitchen. Leaving me and Rebekah to converse amongst ourselves.

Bekah turned to me saying "You know you didn't have to get soo bitchy with me. I understand what has to done."

I softed my expressions as I said "I know you do, I just don't want anything to happen to you guys."

"It's fine, I know how you get overprotective sometimes. You've definitely got that from hanging around Nik too much during your younger days."

"Shut up." I playfully said.

"Look, we have been threatened before and we always come out alive on the other side. We'll get through this together as a family, but you can't get angry and push me away."

"Wow, you sound like Elijah right now, but you're right; I have to work on my temper. I'm sorry."

"It's okay, I'm sorry too. I should have never pushed you into talking your relationship when you didn't want. I didn't realize it would be a sensitive topic for you."

"How about to combat this problem we come up with a rule?" She nodded her head in aggreance. "We don't talk about each other's relationships unless the other wants to talk about it. Deal." We shook each other's hand to confirm the deal.

"Thank goodness that's settle. I hate arguing with you, you're the only friend who hasn't walked out on me."

"Rebekah, I would never betray you like that. You are my best friend, you always have me." I gave my best friend the biggest hug you think of. I'm soo lucky to have such amazing people in my life.

Hope you all enjoyed this chapter since it was different from the actual storyline of the show. I am soo sorry for the huge delay on the chapter. I have been having the craziest writer's block, and I just couldn't shake it. Also, things have been extremely busy lately for me. Thank you everyone for being soo patience and for the 29.4k reads on this story, it means the world to me.

If you guys liked this kind of chapter, let me know in the comments so I could put more in the storyline because I have another idea of where I could fit one in. I put a lot of Melissa and Rebekah scenes in this chapter, I hope you enjoyed their girl bonding time.
