15. Break on Through

Melissa

"Ring Ring" is the first thing I hear when I woke up this morning. I ignored the call, and went back to sleep. 10 minutes later, my phone ringed again. It's Mayor Lockwood.

Mayor Lockwood: Good Morning, Melissa.

Melissa: Good Morning to you too, Carol. What brings up this unexpected call?

Mayor Lockwood: As you know, Wickery Bridge Restoration Fundraiser is today. I am trying to get as much money as possible, and you and Klaus have given generous donations in the past...

Melissa: And you were hoping me and Klaus could make another generous donation.

Mayor Lockwood: If you don't mind, it would be a huge help. Would you both be interested in attending the fundraiser? I always like to recognize my donors.

Melissa: Niklaus isn't in the best mood at the moment, but I will definitely stop by.

Mayor Lockwood: Thank you so much, Melissa.

I ended the call. I put my phone down before heading to the shower and getting myself dressed. After getting dressed, I walk into Rebekah's room which is two doors down from me. She was sleeping in her bed, she looked very peaceful, too bad I'm about to ruin it. I stood right next to her ear as I screamed "Wake up, Bekah!"

She immediately jumped up from her bed, but relaxed herself when she saw me "What the bloody hell was that for?"

"Revenge for all of the time that you interrupted my sleep, and it was totally worth it."

"Well, now that you got your revenge, I'm going back to sleep." She started to lay her head down and grab her blanket, but I pulled her back up.

"Wait, I wanted to ask if you wanted to go the Wickery Bridge Restoration Fundraiser. " She looked very uninterested at this invitation, so I gave her something to be interested about. "It could be helpful in finding the white oak tree." I said to her, this immediately grabbed her attention.

"How so?" She questioned.

"Mayor Lockwood will be there, I thought it could be another chance to ask some questions; pry some useful information out of her. I am going there to give a donation. Giving people what they want usually makes them more likely to talk. Since, I'm giving her the generous donation that she has requested, she should be more than willing to give us some answers." I concluded.

"You are always working an angle, aren't you?"

"I've been living with you and your brothers all of my life. When it comes to war, no person is a better strategist than Klaus, so it's only natural that I picked up a few tricks. So, are you coming?"

"You had me at white oak tree." She smirked before I went downstairs to let her get ready. After she was ready, we left to go to the fundraiser. I spotted Mayor Lockwood talking to a group of people about the bridge.

"Mayor Lockwood, thank you for the invitation. Here is your check, signed and ready to go." I said before handing her the check which made her and the people she was talking to very excited.

"No, thank you for the donation. If there is anything that you need, please don't hesitate to ask." After she said this, I smirked at Rebekah who looked astonished that my plan worked.

"Actually, Carol, me and Rebekah had a few questions about a particular tree we asked about in our last meeting. If you don't mind."

"No problem, what would you like to know?" I smiled over at Rebekah, titling my head in her direction.

"Bekah, the floor is your's." I said before letting them have their question and answer conversation. I was looking around the area before I saw fiery red hair who was talking to Damon. She looked familiar, but I couldn't put a finger on who she was until she turned around. Then I recognized her almost immediately. "Sage!" I called out to her.

I run over in her direction before giving her a hug. "Melissa, I haven't seen you in ages."

"Ah yes, 12th century Italy back when I was human." I reminisced about the time.

"It has been that long." She chuckled at my comment.

"A human Melissa. That would have been quite a sight." Damon entered the conversation, I almost forgot he was here.

"Damon, we have already talked about you being an ass. Let's not have that conservation again." I said back with scowl starting spread across my face.

"I see you two know each other." Sage gave us both a peculiar look.

"We use to be friends back in the 60's before he tried to kill my family." I explained which put Damon immediately on the defensive even though he had no right to be.

"Esther tried to kill them, not me." He said to me but his words meant nothing as I knew the truth.

"And helping her doesn't count apparently." I saw Damon look over at Rebekah who was near the snack table.

"I'll be back." Damon said before walking towards her.

"Did I just hear that Esther is back, the Mikaelson's mother?" Sage questioned which is expected since Finn only ever talked his mother.

"The one and only Original witch is back. Only with a death wish for her children, but let's not talk about that. Let's talk about you. How have you been?"

"I have skipping around town to town, beating men at their own game."

"Ah, same old Sage. Tell me what has brought Sage to the boring yet elusive Mystic Falls?" I asked her just out of pure curiosity. I mean why here?

"I heard Finn is finally out of that coffin that Klaus put him in. So, tell me about you. What has occurred in the life of Melissa Halliwell?"

"If I was to tell you everything that has happened in my life, we would be here for the rest of the year." I chuckled to myself.

"Well, when you live with the Mikaelsons, you're sure to live an exciting life. I can't believe you've been with them for 900 years."

"Not all 900 years. We got separated, and separated I mean that I undaggered Finn back in the 1400's and Klaus ran me off with a series of threats." She gave me an astonished look.

"And you're still hanging around that family. I mean Rebekah and Klaus alone are enough for me to stay away." She had a point there. I mean looking from the outside, I must have seemed crazy going back to the Mikaelsons after that. Me and Klaus have called a truce and all is well now.

"They're not bad all the time, and I'm not any better." I pointed out to her.

"Yeah, you're not always, but you treated me better than that elitist Original bitch."

"Elitist Original bitch, huh? You're not much better yourself." Rebekah walked over to us with that snarky attitude that always came out when she saw Sage.

"Easy there, Rebekah. It has been centuries and you two still hate each other" I walked in between the two to keep the battle of snark to a minimum.

"Rebekah. What a happy surprise." Sage glared at Rebekah as she said her words with the upmost sarcasm.

"What are you doing here, Sage?" Rebekah questioned her.

"Well, I heard Finn was finally freed from that casket your rageaholic brother Klaus carted him around in." Sage replied back.

"Mmm, Finn, you just missed him. He left town and didn't tell a soul where he was going."

"He probably went looking for me."

"Or quite possibly he forgot all about you" Bekah said with a smirk on her face.

"I doubt that."

"No? Cause he didn't seem to mention you. Sorry you came all this way for nothing. Have a nice life." Rebekah walked off from the conversation leaving an angry Sage behind.

"God, I hate that elitist Original bitch." Sage said in spite as she watched her walk off.

"Do you always have to have these intense stare downs every time you see each other. It's like Italy all over again." I sighed in relief that it didn't go any farther than a few snarky remarks.

"You know that fight after Finn was daggered wasn't my fault. She attacked me first." Sage said.

"Well, you did bring up all of her ex-boyfriends that Klaus has killed. What did you think was going to happen?" I pointed out to her causing her to try and change the subject.

"Enough about her, how has everything been?"

"Well, Elijah is playing his big brother role as always, looking for Klaus's redemption. Klaus is planning worldwide domination while being paranoid that everyone is trying to kill." I said thinking about the familiarity of their actions compared to their past years.

"Are they really trying to kill him this time?" Sage chuckled at how Klaus still has the same constant paranoid.

"In this case, yes. Rebekah is out looking for love. Kol is just Kol, hanging out with witches and being as mischievous as ever." I concluded my very brief summary of the Mikaelsons.

"So, nothing has really changed?" She asked me. Now that I think about it, this is how the Mikaelsons always are. They've have had the same family dynamic ever since I've met them.

"I guess it hasn't really except for a few things."

"Now, tell me which Mikaelson brother are you dating?" You know for two people that hate each other so much, they are interested in the same things about me.

"Why are you automatically assuming I'm dating one of them?" I questioned her,

"Because not even you are crazy enough to stay around that family after Klaus chased you off with his insane temper. So, it's definitely a boy. I was thinking Klaus, your head was so far up his ass last time I saw you. Kol would be a good choice for you as always since you both love magic. I never saw you and Elijah together especially since you gravitated more towards bad brothers of the trio." I just stood in awe as she explained her opinion on potential love interests for me

"You've been predicting which Mikaelson I would be dating." I was astonished at her but wasn't completely surprised. I always talked to Sage and Rebekah about guys ever since I met them, it's not exactly something I would bring up with Klaus, Kol, or Elijah.

"I mean it was obvious once you turned, you date one of them. So which one?"

"I'm dating Kol if you must know."

"Ah, the wild fox of the family. I always did like him. Him and Elijah were the only two who didn't hate me."

"The only two that hated you were Klaus and Rebekah. Since they're them, I wouldn't take it to heart."

"You know I'm surprised that Klaus hasn't done something to mess up your relationship." That was an interesting point, but he only messed up Rebekah's relationship. That was just him being an controlling and overprotective brother in the worst way possible.

"We kept our relationship a secret from him for a long time. He only has just found out recently and with everything going on, messing up my relationship isn't a priority. Not like he has ever tried to mess up my relationships before. Now, I have a family to save, so I'll will talk to you later." I gave Sage a hug before vamp speeding back to the Mikaelson mansion.

I walk back into the house to see the three brothers conversing among each other in the living room. "Now let's get back to this spell and find your bastardy brother." I announced before I asked them to get the materials. "So, from what I learned yesterday, Finn is somewhere in Western Hemisphere..."

Kol interrupted my sentence by saying "Maybe we have been going at this the wrong way."

"How so?" I asked him, curious for his reasoning.

"We have been thinking that they could be anywhere in the world. We've been thinking too big. maybe they are closer than we think." He said which got me thinking. Maybe simpler solutions will work to solve this problem.

"If I try a plummet locator, we may be able to find them." I concluded.

"They are thinking big picture, big plan, so they wouldn't think we would anything as small as plummet locator spell. You are brilliant, darling."

"What would you all do without me." I titled my head to the side in a teasing manner before I ran upstairs to get the hanging plummet.  "This plummet locator spell will allow me to break through Esther's cloaking spells and find Finn. I should be fairly easy considering she is spreading her cloaking spell over the entire global, and I'm just breaking a small portion." I said as I spread the map over the table and placed the candles around the map. "Cerco il se ra ci. Cerco il se ra ci. Cerco il se ra ci." I focused all of my energy onto the spell, trying to break her cloaking spell. I find the spot where I can break her cloaking spell without her noticing it, but as soon as I focus my energy onto it, I get pushed back mentally and physically. I am pushed back from the table, holding my feet firm into the ground to keep from going back further.

The three brothers give me looks of confusion before Elijah asks "What has happened?"

"It looks she has strengthen her cloaking spell. It's no problem, I just have to turn up the heat." If she wants power, lets give it to her. I start the spell again, regaining my focus, putting more power into the spell. Let's show her what Bennett witches can really do. I found the spot where I can break the cloaking spell, but I came at it stronger than before. The cloaking spell tries to push me back but I'm not going to let it. I push back stronger and harder than before, she can't take me down that easily. I finally am able to break the cloaking spell, now I can start searching for Finn.

I start my locator spell, focusing on Finn. I close in on the United States, closer to the northeast side. I finally close in own a precise locator: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. "I got him. He's in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It's not a too far of a drive."

"Looks like you have saved the day again, love." Klaus said before giving his "I am impressed" smirk which I get a lot for being a brilliant partner in crime.

"Let's get your bastard brother back here, so we can end this once and for all." I said with a smirk on my face and an evil glint in eyes.

I am so sorry for how long I have taken to update this story. I will try to get a more consistent with it, but I can't promise anything because college can get really hectic. I was having some major writer's block with these last two chapters because they were kinda of fillers but they were needed to get the story ready for the next chapter.

I hope you all enjoyed this chapter. Expect more to come soon. Love you all for supporting this story and being so patient with me. Thank you!
