Chapter 2

Jades POV

After a twelve and a half hour flight, I uncurled myself from the plane only to curl up in the back of a cab. I don't mind travelling, I actually quite enjoy being on a plane. Although, I always forget I can't take my lucky scissors and I get them taken off me.

"It's dark and cold and raining. Yeah Mom, this was a great idea." Sarcasm dripped off my words, making my dad tut at me. I'm not speaking to him, but that's nothing unusual. I think the longest we have ever been without talking was probably when I was 12 and I didn't speak to him for about 4 months, and when I did finally talk it was to say 'pass the salt'.

"Now then Jade, calm down. We've only just gotten here. After a good nights sleep it will all look better." She's always so nice and irritatingly cheerful. I honestly think I was swapped at birth. What about it being morning makes it better? You'll actually be able to see the greyness then, not just feel it swamping you.

We finally arrived at our hotel which I suppose is ok, because it's like 5 star and all. That's the only bonus about these family trips. I get to have my own room and there's no one nagging me to tidy it up, or having to do things for a certain time because of school or food or whatever. I can pretty much whatever, whenever. You know, as long as it's not illegal or something.

"Looks like you have an admirer, honey!" My mom gushed at me, indicating to a boy across the lobby. He looked away, seeing that he'd been spotted. Damn right he should, little creep.

"He's not even looking at me mom, he's just looking at those freaks behind us with the hoard of kids." I say, loud enough for said freaks to hear. My father hissed the usual "Jade!" at me. My mom just rolled her eyes (I guess that's one thing I did get from her) and turned away to talk to the people at the desk. After a couple of moments thought, I decided it was only fair if I got to give him the once over in return.

Ok hair I guess, kind of fluffy and longer on the top than the sides. His clothes were decent, casual. He looked about my age, athletic build and a quite a kind looking face.

"Jade, snap out of your daydream sweetie. I know he's cute, but we're going to our rooms now." I scowled at the woman who is my polar opposite but claims to be my mother and sighed.

"He is not that hot, and he was staring. It's creepy." My mom giggled.

"I thought you said he wasn't staring at you?" I huffed and turned away.

I pulled out my spare scissors from my boot and flexed my fingers, making the metal blades catch the light. Out of the corner of my eye I noticed that the boy's eyes were on me once again. I looked up and gave him my perfected death glare, moving the scissors more threateningly. Just my normal behaviour. He his eyes widened as he quickly turned and walked away, looking over his shoulder once or twice.

What can I say? It's my way of bonding with people. I'm making friends everywhere, obviously.
