*Jades POV*

Well this is it. I was all dressed up, my raven hair curled and falling into loose, shiny ringlets down my back with the blue highlights adding colour. I had minimal makeup, with bold eyes. I just hoped to god Beck has gone home.

"Cat! You ready?" I yelled into the bathroom.

"Yep!" Came the short happy cry. She suddenly appeared in the doorway with one hand stretched above her head and one hand on her hip. She was in a silver sparkly tank top and dark blue denim shorts. She had black high heels on (and I mean high, I don't even know how she walked in those things), some bangles and a little makeup.

"Ta do!" She looked so pleased with herself. I couldn't help but smile at her sweet little face. Her natural beauty could attract a whole room, and then the eyes that had all the innocence of a little girl. I rolled my eyes at her.

"It's ta da. Now lets go shake up the party!" Cat smiled at me and ran out of the room (again, how?) I followed in my not-so-high-heeled boots, jogging to catch up to her.

*Nialls POV*

There'd been a few acts onstage, and they were alright but not really that amazing, you know? Zayn signed us up so we knew we'd be on soon. We were singing a song that Liam wrote, and even though he wouldn't admit it, we all knew it was about Jade.

"Right people, up next we have a group of 5 boys who go by the names of Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne!" We walked up onto the stage and made our way over to the DJs booth to get our mics. I saw Jade and her friend Cat walk in and took a seat at the table next to ours. Cat looked so pretty. What I liked about her was that she was so beautiful and sweet, but completely unaware of it, and the innocence was just overwhelming.

I looked to the guys and they had already started to make their way to the main stage. I could see Liam scanning the room for Jade and saw his eyes lock on her. "I don't think I can do this, she knows it's about her!" He looked terrified.

"So it is about Jade! How does she know it's about her?" Harry looked concerned. Then again, we all were. Liam had never been like this before no matter how much he liked someone.

"She heard me writing it that night of the webcam chat. Come on guys, she's not stupid!"

"Well-" The DJ interrupted me.

"Hey, what are you guys going to sing for us tonight?" I pried the CD out of Liam's sweaty hands and walked over to him. "Can we sing something we wrote ourselves?" The DJ looked kind of shocked. Guess you don't get that many people singing songs they wrote here.

"Sure..." He took the CD and placed it in the player while I walked back to the boys. Liam had taught it to us this afternoon. I watched him take a few deep breaths and then the first bars started. Liam was singing first. I gave him a thumbs up and he smiled at me.

"You're insecure, don't know what for.

You're turning heads when you walk through the door,

Don't need makeup, to cover up.

Then he stopped and stepped back and gestured to Harry.

"Everyone else in the room can see it,

I took a breath and we prepared for the chorus.

It was going great! I looked at Jade and she was blushing like crazy but trying unsuccessfully to hide it. Cat was nudging her and giggling. I gave Liam a wink and he looked over at her as she looked up. They both looked away and Liam blushed. This is now even more undeniably cute.

"So girl come on, you got it wrong.

To prove I'm right I put it in a song.

Then Harry stepped forwards.

We all joined him. I loved this part because it's so fun to do even though it's the simplest thing in the whole world.

The rest of us stopped dancing and messing around and we all joined in again. The crowd was loving it and were all up and dancing, even Cat and Jade!

I noticed a couple of things in this song. Liam wrote it, and yet he hardly sings and from what he told us, Jade does know that she's pretty and uses it to her advantage often... He's such an idiot.

We were all really excited to hear Jade sing, because after she showed Liam her school, he showed us and it looked awesome. It's really hard to get into so you have to be super talented. Come to think of it, that means Cat can sing or whatever too.

*Cats POV*

Omg that song was soooooo cute! Jadey was bright red the whole way through!! Beck never made her blush, not once. Then again, Beck never wrote her a song either. Niall was looking at me the whole time, and I think I like him. As in Jade might have to sit on me (like when Sikowitz made the bet with us that we couldn't use technology for a week and I went slightly insane) to stop me throwing myself into his arms... I'm such a disaster.

*Jades POV*

He cannot do that again. I loved every minute of it. I can't start to actually like Liam, hopefully my song might put him off. I decided to sing a song called You Don't Know Me instead. I wrote it myself and I'm pretty proud of it.

"So do you want me to sing with you? That's why you called me wasn't it? It wasn't so I could meet one of these boys, fall in love, get married and stay here forever!" Cat spoke so fast it was hard to understand, but she's my best friend, so of course I managed to understand the garbled mess.

"Aw, does someone have a crush?" I ruffled her hair playfully, showing her the side I never let anyone see. My fun, normal, human side. The guys came to sit at the table next to ours. Well it would be wouldn't it?

They all sat down and started their own conversation. "So which one is it?" I asked Cat while nudging her with my foot under the table.

"What?" Cat hadn't been listening to me and was playing with her hair and staring at me absentmindedly. We all know why.

"Which one do you like Cat?" I smirked at her and she blushed to the point where her face was almost the colour of her dyed hair.

"I like the blonde one, but please don't say anything Jade!" She suddenly latched onto my hand and gave me the puppy dog eyes that no one could resist.

"Oh, that's Niall or something. If you keep saying it that loudly I won't have to say anything!" She slapped her hand over her mouth. "And the answer to your question is no, I don't want you to sing the first song with me but when I win we can sing Give it up." Her face lit up as the DJ said into his mic:

"Now is a girl who goes by the name of Jade West," I let Cat give me a quick hug and made my way onto the stage. "Now when I saw her my first thought was-"

"Yeah, just play it!" I said into my mic, getting bored of the whole situation. The five losers smiled at each other and looked back at me.

"Well I guess we'll never know what I thought. So, what are you going to sing tonight Jade?" I walked over and handed him my CD. "Oh another one who wrote their own song!" He looked like he was about to add more but then thought the better of it. "What's the song called?" He asked me. I smiled a venomous smile and looked straight at Liam.

"It's called You Don't Know Me." The DJ nodded and started to play the CD. I felt the familiar thrill as I heard the first notes.

This was the only bit I wasn't sure of. It showed my weak side and I didn't want him to think I needed him or that he had any power over me. Normally I wouldn't perform a song until I thought it was perfect, and I wouldn't write something that made me feel vulnerable, but I couldn't help it this time.

There was silence in the room as I finished and then the crowd went wild. I decided to add that last bit in because I felt bad about yelling at Liam earlier. Him and the boys were just sat there looking stunned. Cat sat there and studied their faces and burst out into fits of girly giggles. I was the last performer so I handed the shocked DJ my mic and sauntered over to my table.

Cat grabbed me in a hug and jumped up and down. "Ohmigod Jadey you were awesome! I loved it!" I smiled and hugged her back for a few seconds and then prized her off of my person. The boys were still silent.

"I think I may have told you this before, but sitting with your mouths open is not an attractive look!" and I burst into spontaneous laughter for the first time in years.

*Liams POV*

Jade laughed. She actually laughed! It wasn't even sarcastic or anything. Even Cat looked surprised. We all joined her as she carried on with her infectious laughing. Lets just say, it was a great ice breaker.

We all introduced ourselves to Cat, and when it came to Niall he blushed like crazy and so did she. I think Jade and I might have to do some matchmaking in the future! That's if she ever tolerates me long enough. We all got along well enough with Jade throwing in the occasional snippy comment but mainly just being normal. I wonder if this is what she's like with her friends as home. There was still that cloud hanging over us though, the competition. Who would win?
