Chapter 19

 DEDICATED TO @LoveTheMoustache

*Jades POV*

My eyes fluttered open and I rolled onto my back and sat up. I rubbed my sleepy eyes with the back of my hand and made a face. Ew, last nights make up. I yawned and stretched and got out of bed. On my way I mumbled a "Hey Cat, get your ass up." and gave her a nudge, but she kept the pillow over her head and ignored me. The only sign that I had disturbed her was when she moved the slightest fraction.

There was the foul taste of un-brushed teeth in my mouth that I desperately wanted to get rid of as I ran my tongue over my teeth. I walked into the bathroom. Toothpaste, but no toothbrush. Well, there was one, but it wasn't mine and I'm not using Cat's manky toothbrush. Although I thought Cats' toothbrush was pink, not red.

"Hey Cat, have you moved my toothbrush?" I called into the bedroom. No answer.

I decided to make the most of Cat still being asleep to have some privacy while I got dressed so I headed to my closet.

Before I got to the drawers, I noticed something else. It smelled weird. I just shrugged though, I mean Cat's forever trying new perfumes, both lovely and revolting. Guessing this one was the latter, although it wasn't unpleasant. I opened the draw and jumped back in surprise. That was not my underwear. Oh my god, were those boxers? I looked in the mirror and I noticed for the firs time that I was wearing a man's T-shirt rather than my own pyjamas.

I slowly walked over to the lump in the bed where I had assumed Cat was. I reached out and poked what seemed to be an arm.

Okay... Definitely doesn't feel like Cat. I leaned over and gave a suspicious sniff. Certainly doesn't smell like Cat. I poked again, just a little harder. I was beginning to realize what was going on. Believe me, I was praying I was wrong.

"Do you mind? Can't anyone get their much needed rest around here?"

Then two tattooed arms removed the pillow. Two words. Oh, and Shit.

*Liams POV*

I pulled the pillow away from my head and opened my eyes, and saw Jade looking down at me with a horrified look on her face.

"AH!" She jumped at my tone of voice and just stayed silently staring until my heart had recovered and I could speak once more. "I-I thought you were Niall, sorry I reacted like that, I was just so- Hey, why do you look so freaked out?"

"I think I have every right to be freaked out! I wake up in your room, in your clothes, along with the fact that I can't remember anything after Anna shoving sprinkles down my dress. So yeah, being freaked out is my first reaction."

I propped myself up on my elbows. "Jade calm down. I know what you're thinking, but I assure you, nothing happened last night, I promise. Oh, about the not-remembering thing. I have no idea why you can't remember, you were perfectly fine last night. I mean, you were a bit tipsy and unsteady on your feet but you weren't full-on drunk, and not enough to forget."

She doesn't believe me. I can tell by the look on her face.

"And how do I know you're telling the truth?" And there it is. "You could have been as drunk as me. Or worse!" I chuckled and shook my head. Jade raised her eyebrows at me, demanding an explanation.

"I don't drink." she scoffed at me. "It's true. You see, I only have one kidney. It has its drawbacks of course, but I get no hangovers, and more importantly: I can be counted on to remember what happened."

Jade seemed to think of something that she didn't want to think about. I gave her a questioning look at she put her head in her hands and groaned. "That means you've seen me do things I have no control over, or any memory of. Please please please tell me I did nothing too embarrassing?" I thought I'd have a little fun while I still had the advantage. "Well..." Her head shot up and there was a look of dread in her eyes. "Apart from when you started trying to take your clothes off and dance on the table, you were fine." She froze and I exploded with laughter. Jade hit me hard on my shoulder. "You bastard!" And then started laughing with me.

"It was funny seeing you drunk, actually. I quite enjoyed it. You were laughing constantly, like you had the giggles. You, my friend, are a very giggly drunk. According to Cat, you're normally a flirty drunk but last night it was just full-on giggles." It surprised me that she was so ready to assume that she had slept with me last night. Did she not trust herself? Or had it happened before? Surely she didn't think I'd take advantage of her like that.

After knowing that she didn't do anything too embarrassing, Jade seemed to visibly relax, but then a look of confusion appeared on her face. "But, if nothing happened last night, then why am I in your room? More importantly why am I dressed in your clothes? And how am I in them?" Jade stood up and gestured down her body, and sure enough she was in one of my t-shirts.

"Well when the food fight was over, it all got a bit hectic downstairs. After we stayed for a few more drinks, Cat came to find you and tell you that she was going somewhere with some other people and said goodnight. Then you realized you forgot to take your room key out with you and discovered it was the one time Cat had been sensible and locked the door. You texted Cat to come to the room to open the door, and I invited you in to talk for a while until Cat noticed your text and you could go back to your room. I went and had a quick shower while you just chilled for a bit. When I got back you realized you had no clean clothes so you just washed your hair over the bath, wiped your dress down and uh... cleaned down your top and then you came back in after putting your wet dress back on. I offered to go and find Cat for you and get the key so you could change but you told me not to because it was only wet at the front. We just talked for a while just sitting on the bed, leaning back on the pillows, when I saw that you'd fallen asleep. I was going to leave you to sleep but I remembered that earlier you had mentioned that your dress was tight around your ribs because it was a little too small, but it was your favourite. My mum always taught me not to sleep in anything tight because it's bad for your circulation, so I couldn't decide what to do because you were so deeply asleep and I couldn't wake you, and I didn't want to even if I could. I think you'd passed out to be honest. I tried ringing Cat to come and get you undressed but she didn't answer so I made the decision to take your dress off and put you in something of mine, which was a little awkward but I felt better knowing that you weren't going to be uncomfortable. I've heard it's not good for you to sleep in a bra either, but I wasn't about to take it off you. Then I just turned out the light and went to sleep."

Throughout the explanation, Jade had shown a multitude of different facial expressions. The one she held now was that of embarrassment. She'd flushed a deep red, and was avoiding my eyes. She'd mentioned at some point she didn't care if people saw her in her underwear because it was only like wearing a bikini, although I guess it's a little different with a guy who you like and the feelings are returned. The silence had stretched on for a while and I felt awkward. I had to say something. Anything. There was only one thing I could think of. I knew it would sufficiently stop the awkwardness, but whether it would be anger or laughter in it's place, I did not know. Here goes nothing.

"Hey, there's one thing I wanted to say." Jade looked at me properly for the first time since I'd told her I'd undressed her. "Nice underwear." Her jaw dropped and she hit me with a pillow.

Next thing I knew we were play wrestling. She was a lot stronger than I would have guessed, but I was still stronger. I managed to pin her down. At least it was on the bed so we couldn't hurt each other. Well, unless one of us fell onto the floor.

"It was a compliment." This renewed her struggling, but when I tightened my grip on her wrists, she stopped. I stupidly loosened the grip again. "All I said was nice underwear."

"Oh Liam, never drop your guard." Suddenly she threw herself to the side and rolled us over so that she was sat on my stomach. Jade smirked at me.

"Oh Jade," I said, mocking her. "Never leave your opponents hands free." I quickly reached up and started tickling Jade's sides. I didn't even know if she was ticklish. It would have been bad if she wasn't, but luckily Jade started laughing.

Jade grabbed my hands to stop them from tickling her anymore, but she didn't move them, so my hands were on her waist, with hers on top of them, holding them there. She started to lean down, ever so slowly, when there was a bang and we both jumped and turned to look in the direction of the noise.

There was Niall, with a huge grin on his face. He opened his mouth to speak and then registered the scene in front of him. Only then did I realize how wrong our position must have looked to other people. From Niall's position, it looked like Jade only had a T-shirt on. Then there was the matter of where she was sitting of course. Obviously Jade had thought all of this too, as our eyes met, and both of us tried not to laugh as we watched Niall turn a very unattractive shade of red. He started stuttering a mumbled excuse about having to be somewhere and backed out of the room, shutting the door after him.

When he was gone Jade met my eyes again, and we both burst out laughing. It was then, in that moment watching her laughing that I knew that my nightmare had become a reality.

I was unconditionally and undeniably in love with Jade West.
